How fitting that this popped up in my feed on an Easter morning lol. Queen Adreena was one of the staples to the soundtrack of my freshmen year in highschool back in 02/03. This track in particular got a lot of replays.

the jesus/god line really makes this song juvenile... its shame, the rest of it is so good, lyrically rich and layered. and then the "edgy" God line comes in.. kinda ruins it.
I took those lines to be metaphorical for extremely idealized aspects of a lover she's hoping for. In that sense it fits with the rest of the track for me.
It actually makes perfect sense and fits in with the theme of the song quite perfectly. The lover the character is seeking would make such a bizzare and profound change in her life that he (the lover) would be godlike to her. It's perfect.
I've always felt the exact same way. This song is an incredible piece of psychosexual art, but I worry if I share it with people they'll get tripped up on that, edginess.
