This is just my take on the sinking scene and what I would have done different as the editor. I'm not a professional and this is non profit. It's only an exercise in editing, and for educational purposes only.
I edited the sinking of the S.S. Taiping, from the film The Crossing 2. I fixed continuity issues, readjusted the length of cuts, added sound effects, and even replaced sound effects. There was some oddly loud foley sounds that had to be toned down. There was also an air raid siren sound effect used at 02:56 and I had to use an AI audio splitter to remove it. I also had to readjust the speed of the CGI shots because they seemed to move too fast at times. I also added flickering light effects to the scene of the interior flooding at 01:20.
After midnight on January 27th 1949, the S.S. Taiping collided with another vessel while en route from Shanghai, China to Keelung, Taiwan. After picking up survivors from the other vessel, the Taiping continued on her route. She was packed to nearly twice her rated capacity, carrying over 1,000 refugees, fleeing advancing Chinese Communist forces during the Chinese Civil War. It is estimated around 1,500 passengers and crew perished during the sinking.
