Tata Nexon EV vs Tata Nexon Petrol I Drag Race, Handling Test And A Lot More!

- Electric vehicle vs internal combustion engine! Always a hot topic of discussion. Some people look at EVs as the future while purists hate them and can't live without the sound of revving out a petrol engine and getting every gear change just right! So what better way to settle this once and for all than getting two Nexon’s, one is powered by a turbo petrol motor while the other is propelled by electricity.
So apart from the differences when it comes to powering these cars the other biggest difference is their weight! Because of the stack of lithium-ion batteries, the EV weighs around 150 kg more! So will the extra weight spoil its fun factor which is acceleration, braking, ride, and handling?
The Nexon EV is powered by a 129PS electric motor as compared to the 120PS turbo engine in the Nexon Petrol.

I didn't know I needed this comparison until seeing the video. Great Idea comparing the same car in EV and IC version. Thank you, Zigwheels.
Glad you liked the video!

How do you charge your vehicle? That's produced majorly with coal. So where are reducing carbon footprint? Mere waste of money.
@@satyaphotographer To mine petrol you use electricity, petrol has to refined and transported to your petrol pumps. Petrol is not magically produced in petrol bunks. Might as well use electricity to run cars rather than mine petroleum 🤦🏻
@@satyaphotographer Install solar in your house
This is exactly what the nexon ev needs. Good reviews like this are important because it helps put things in a realistic perspective. When viewed in isolation, it’s difficult to judge.
I really don't want to do these stunts with my EV except reaching home on a single charge 😁😁😁😁

I wish the Ev color should come with the petrol option. It looks way better than the blue on the petrol nexon.
Yup, we love the EV's colour too.
The climax was awesome dude. Initially i disliked the video, but at the end i was like i have to give his creativity a big thumbs up (Matching the intro and climax with the salad and burger was a brilliant idea, hinting the reality). Keep it up buddy... 😉
Thank you so much!
3:32 Quicker, not Faster.
Faster and Quicker both. Not the fastest(only limited by software otherwise ev would smoke petrol version even in this as well)
Nice review... the ending is perfect representation of the NEXON EV!! BUMMER
Thank you!
Why do you compare EV with IC can you use IC for years ? , can you fuel up your IC car with solar power unit ?, Can you ♻️ reuse petrol?, can you make petrol in just fraction of second rotating a turbine?, plz stop implanting an idea of comparison 🙏🏻in people mind ... take EV as they are. be clear at least .
Really well thought out and useful video to understand different types of tests. Especially ride quality, handling and performance is well conveyed to all kinds of viewers in simple way. you guys have put so much of efforts creating this video and Many thanks for that. I wish you create similar videos when comparing different brands of passenger cars.
10:58 I think Nexon EV needed a second run, the turning seems last min. Compared to 06:11 where the turn in is constant. I understand it could be excessice torque but something of that run still seems weird.
The last part was not expected .. But nice 😊work guys.....
More charging stations ,,,,, more range upto 500 km....then it would be good to switch...let the battery tech grow more
Having same wishlist
definitely need more charging stations
look at CNG pumps
they are enough but look at their queue
we would need to have more charging stations than CNG pumps if everyone's gonna buy an ev
@@Torquebeast650 not really, I am Nexon EV owner. you can not put cng at your house, so every one goes to CNG station, in case of EV Charging is needed outside city only who are driving long distances. So charging stations are less required inside city. ( Only required may be for commercial vehicles)

Fun video, after a lot of analysis, I went for turbo petrol instead of ev... ultimately EVs are too early for their time, after ten years when there will be quick charging batteries and lots of charging stations everywhere, maybe EVs will start making more sense, but not as of now, currently petrol or diesel is the only way to go
Screenplay is so well designed and depicted....Kudos to the entire team of Zigwheels
Great concept for review and a very lovable comparison and execution.❤️Well done team zigwheels❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
Before judgments driving quality matters a lots. While diverting EV Tata Nexon at 60Km/h, you went off road, deep over inside edges of the turn and while at 70 Km/h you were much out off the inside edges which made the Poles to fall. So you need more perfect driving or a Driver to stabilize the Car between these 2 Points.
Trying to do review like top gear , its a good effort 👌
Thank you man.

"the car could do with traction control"
Le enthusiasts BRUHHHH STFUUUUUU
Honestly speaking bud, having driven both of them side to side, the Nexon EV could do with TC. The tyres are too overwhelmed by the torque and just aren't able to put the power to the ground. If you are however looking to do wheelspins and burn rubber, then yeah, it can do without the TC.
Can't it be switchable?
@@aroy8731 That would be the best of both worlds, but as of now, it is not an option on the Nexon EV

Hahaha. Arre nahi Bhai.
No no nooo, please no traction control on ev! kahi toh maza lene ka mauka chod do. har jagh restrictions laga dene hai. me pay kr raha hun, I want that wheelspin
yep!! Brands should give better tyres instead and a fully switchable traction/stability control.
I love Nexon petrol it's just super glued to road at high speed but the acceleration on 2nd gear is a struggle if like on high inclined road it's just dead does not budge only if you change the gear to 1st it just roars back with excellent pickup with 5 people seated .
Yeah low speed acceleration is also my problem with my Nexon turbo petrol...it's just takes a little longer to pick up the required speed especially when overtaking...of course 50-80 takes no time, but when you're at 10kmph, it struggles a little
When someone says he's hungry, just ask him to Chill...
Hahahahahaha
or hand him a snickers!
I was expecting the EV to have better handling because of the low centre of gravity and 50:50 mass distribution along front to back due to the battery pack in floor. But, seems Tata couldn't take advantage of it. I am sure, tweaking the suspension can fix it. Almost every other modern EVs usually have better handling due to the same reason.
Haha.. fantastic analogy with burgers and salads. awesome climax and the secret love for IC engines was awesome .. fantastic efforts..
Thank you so much man!

Wrong info! Though it was a good try for a drag race comparision its far from its purpose. You say the Petrol Nexon completed the drag with 13.3 secs and the EV with 9.6 secs but in reality there was just 1 sec of a difference when they reached the finish line wic v can see in the video at 3.12 secs.
Really nice video. It was like a movie entertaining me especially the last clip of the video was fun. Nice and I feel petrol is good because when the car is full of passenger and luggage EV might not give good performance but petrol does.

The Indian perception about EVs over the year
before 2010: EVs are toys
2010-2014: Well, they are not toys, but boy they are ugly.
2015-2019: Well, now we have electric sedans, not ugly, but they are slow and doesn't perform.
2020-2021: Well, they are fast, but they don't have range.
While, the above perceptions are true at the time, EV world is changing very fast, the perception changed within a decade. If you wanna guess what it's going to be in the coming years, look what Tesla is doing in Europe, china and US. They have 600 KM range with high performance EVs right now with charging network everywhere. That's going to be common with other EVs in the coming years. Tata, Zeon, Masstech, EESL, petrol pumps all are adding fast chargers everyday over last few months, it's only going to accelerate. If you are confused about choosing an electric car as your next new car, at least don't buy a new ICE car. The ICE cars will lose their value after 2025, you either wait or buy an used ICE car.

They should have towed the EV home with the IC , atleast that's the plus point of Nexon IC.
You can't tow automatics without seriously damaging the clutch and transmission, like how you normally tow a manual car in neutral.
From what it feels, Tata is working hard on its PR after the recent setback. In my humble opinion, it still can't cover up the false claims made on Mileage. People would have set the right expectations and appreciated it if Tata was honest in their first claim on mileage. Not worried about less Mileage at all but its a question about the service and reliability after advertising the wrong info.
What is the basis of your criticism? I have never received an average lower than 280 KM driving in the city, please substantiate your claims and don't just pass it off without doing any research.
Bro, you are too late to the party. My comment was relevant then might not be now.
Please bring the Nexon EV to the Philippines
The Best MILEAGE Cars in Diesel is based on the ratio between WEIGHT: POWER: TORQUE., Example, a car with 100bhp and 25kgm torque and with a weight of 1100kgs, Definitely 20kmpl in any sort of Driving.
Same way, in ELECTRIC CARS, it comes as WEIGHT: BATTERY "kWh": TORQUE, really play a role. In Nexon the weight is 1400kgs and 30kWh so definitely a 200kms range comes out, in Hyundai Kona 1532kg and 39kWh, so 270+kms definitely, in MG ZS, 1512kgs with 44kWh , so definitely 300kms easily will come up.
Now the TATA TIGOR EV, Coming soon, is 1200kgs with 26kWh definitely 250kms easily will reach. Do the Ratio Analysis, it comes out good number. I Promise...
