Hey Planner Peeps! My apologies for the angle of this video. My tripod broke, and my editing software is on the fritz, lol! Trying something new with the editing. Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks so much for being here! :)
Hi, Cat! I like the intro where you show a snippet of what's to come. Always, your videos are great! Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences.
"You won't know it doesn't work until it actually doesn't work" ....Yes!!! thank you!! What a great observation, so true. Going thru different options this season to see what I want for 2025. But realistically I know I'll change again next year! LOL
Hi, Cat! Planners are like a playground to me. Over the years I've used all kinds of them starting with the Day-timer system back in the 1980's. Much of what you expressed have been issues for me over the last few years (i.e. too much...little check boxes, activities, decoration...you name it)! I think I know what I want to do for 2025, but I could change my mind...maybe...who knows!! I don't struggle with dinners much anymore. I plan the dinners for next week on Thursday night (what I'm doing right now) and then buy the groceries on Friday. My family doesn't like to eat out...ever...so I better have a plan!! Thanks for the video, Cat! Have a wonderful blessed day!!
About dinner … have a master list of all meals you & hubby like per category!! Then you & hubby can discuss - meatless Mondays, taco Tuesdays, wild Wednesdays, Turkey Thursday & pizza/salad Friday. Then go to your master list & grab a fav from that category- shop only once a week!! Cook from your shelf & freezer first & plan two weeks out -- it’s works. Saves $$ & works well after 2 months of doing it 😎 Loved this haul & I agree!! I love your 50 cent planner ❤
I always struggle with what to do with planners that don’t work for me. I don’t like wasting money, but I also don’t want to use something I don’t like
Keep them!! I swear I run back to planners or parts of planners over the years.. I hate one for one year… 2 years later it has a purpose with something new in my life💯💯 happy planning
Yes, things ARE more expensive in Canada right now. I heard an interview with a Canadian and an American economist. They compared the purchasing power of currency in the last three years. The US dollar purchases about 70 cents of what it did (I didn't pay attention to the exact amount). The Canadian dollar purchases 55 cents of what it did. Fifty-five cents!
CAT! THANK YOU! THANK YOU, THANK YOU ❤❤❤. This video is what we all need when we are feeling bad about the $$$ spent on planners that don’t work out the way we hoped. I am so glad you shared your heart with us.
I am really excited for a new planner find I recently found by Twines and Paper. She is coming out with an A5 week book hybrid. It combines everything I like from hobonichi coussin, wonderland222 and sterling ink all in one but better. Also it has both horizontal and vertical weekly layouts. so 4 pages per week. And the weekly pages are directly behind each month. This excites me because I have a high work schedule load, multiple projects and my schedule can change at the drop of a hat. So having 4pages per week is perfect. Pre planning and project tracking in horizontal layout and actual activities and schedule in the vertical layout. The pre-order for the A5 is currently active.
I also have the Passionate Penny Pincher Planner for 2024. It is a BEAUTIFUL planner! I also felt bad for not being able to check all the boxes! I love the checklists it offers and think I’ll just use this one for reference in the future if needed.
Hello Cat! I loved your honesty on what was not working. I feel that planners flow with life and I live that you said give yourself grace. I am always hard on myself when I think something should work for me and doesn’t. 😊
Great video my friend! I think we all have planners that didn't work for us, I know I do. I'm very happy in my Sterling Ink Common Planner this year and I'll probably go with the same for next year. As for dinners? The struggle. I hate thinking about what to have and you have to do it every FLIPPIN DAY!!! 🤣 We could afford more planner stuff if we didn't have to remortgage our houses for groceries in Canada. Good grief.
After using A5 Rings or Discs for 35 years, now that I am an Empty Nester close to retirement, I have been itching to downsize and simplify! I have stopped purchasing printed planners because I actually enjoy creating my own layouts (very simple ones), so I don't have pages I won't use. Also, much cheaper! I am going to use a blank A6 notebook in 2025, for portability, and then keep a Personal Rings for lists, trackers, projects etc. so I can have the flexibility to move things around, add, subtract, decorate, etc. My A6 is more minimalist/functional with only month-at-a-glance calendars followed by weeklies with just a few pages at the front for reference info. I still love looking at all of the planners, but I am committed to my DIY set-up! I am impressed by all the different brands and how thoughtfully designed they are. Such great ideas and variety to suit every possible need! Thanks for sharing your insights--content like this really helps me to clarify what I truly need!
Hi!😊 What a wonderful video! I’m sorry about the technical difficulties you had (tripod and editing software thing) but the video is still awesome! Thank you for always sharing your honest experiences with us! It’s so nice to be able to have these planner chats! I love the hobonichi cousin and I used it for 3 years and it was amazing but I realized during the last six months or so of the third year that I just wasn’t filling the space that I was before so I downsized. I still love it but where my life is right now, it’s just too much and that’s ok! I love how you repeatedly said in this videos that these planners didn’t work for you in 2024 because the truth is as we and our lives change, our planning system needs to be able to change with us! And I think it’s perfectly ok to love a book you can’t really use right now and I think it’s ok too if a planner that you thought would never work for you 3 years ago ends up being your planner peace next year. A very beautiful message from you about giving ourselves the grace to learn and grow and figure it out as we try these books that we so love!🥰 Thank you so much Cat and I know it’s a couple days early but I hope you have a beautiful and amazing September!!❤❤❤
I don't like thick ring bound planners. I actually use Dollar Tree planners. I love Dollar Tree planners. They are flat and not bucky at all, I actually put my Dollar tree planner to good use. I also use a 5 year planner,
I felt the same way about the Cousin. I got the B6 Owl Paper and it is perfect for me. It’s a great size and it’s very minimal with undated daily pages.
Wise advice given here. Thank you for sharing. It seems many/most of us struggled this past year with planner peace. I tried many as well and the only one that I stayed true to is a random cousin dupe I found on Amazon. Now, I can’t find the same planner for 2025.
Felt the same way with EC daily duo. I have the EC compact vertical. As my daily list and things. I have an EC monthly 7x9. I use for various. That may work for you especially for the Bible study. The CV a5 is decent to carry too.
I've been in a $10 planner from Sam's Club for 2 or 3 months. I don't use every week, I forget to open it some days. I've had to rely on more digital tools this year, but I'm glad I stopped trying expensive planners. If I ditch a $10 planner, I have 0 guilt.
When the community says you won’t know until you use I believe that is true to a certain extent. If we open the planner and flip through it or see its pages online and we know that we know that we know our life isn’t setup that way….but we just REALLYYYY want that planner….where’s the accountability 🥴
I don’t care for planners with super thin paper. I like thick, heavy paper not tissue paper!! 🙂 I keep going back to happy planner because I can add, remove inserts as needed.
Cat, this was the perfect video at the perfect time. I stuck to the budget this year all right-but it was the budget for 2024 AND 2025! I’ve given up thinking there’s a magical format that will match my brain, and I’ll be working in MomAgenda, with EC notebooks. Simple, slightly less pricy than some others, and solid. Sorry about your crazy sales tax.
I have had many planners sit here because I really disliked them after they arrived. What do I do with those planners? I turn them into Scripture books and the pages get painted on, glued on...whatever I want--but I reuse it. Thank you for sharing this review with us. God Bless.
I’m not doing Hobonichi. I DID listen to seaweedkisses and got a 2024 pocket daily Moleskine to use for 2025 (I just black out the day of the week-no biggy) I’m so excited to use that and my Planner Perfect inserts in a personal TN for next year. So I’m sleeping on all these new releases.
As a stay at home mom I would still struggle to meet those checklist points daily. And it would drive me crazy also to not check it off on the day it says.
I sooo wanted to enjoy the Passionate Penny Pincher Planner and I’m actually hopping back in to it for q4 just to see if I can make it work! But I won’t buy one for 2025 either 1. The font for the dates is too small I can’t immediately glance at the weekly and see what day is what 2. The habit tracker had things I didn’t need and would never need 😂 I was just whiting out some lines and adding in my own every week that is cumbersome 3.Not much margin for decorating. I’m a washi kinda girl but sis used every inch of that page 😂😂 sticker whereeeee? 4. (This is not on the PPP) I moved from vertical planning for 3 years and switched to this horizontal. My brain is confused by this 😂
What do you do with planners that you don't use, have leftover pages, or too old? I have a lot of old school student agendas that I want to use up because it seems like a waste to throw away.
Hi. I am new on your channel. I been struggling also with spending so so so much money on all types of planners and still can’t find planner peace. I also have purchase some of the planners you mention on this video and has not worked for me . What current planner are you using ?
Hey sweet friend! I’m currently using a notebook for quick planning, a SI Common Planner and a pocket size common planner. Thinking of switching things up for next year 😊
Hey! Sadly, no. I have developed arthritis in my right hand, and writing in the Weeks has become too pain as I’m forced to write very small due to the size and shape of the planner. I love the Weeks, but I have to find something with larger spacing to accommodate my large printing😊
I feel you, I changed planner 7 times this year 🫣 I learned a lot about myself 😁 I'm also Canadian so the shipping on any planner related item is horrendous 😢 l ended by ordering a Just Scribble A6 horizontal. I feel good about it 😊
Hey Planner Peeps! My apologies for the angle of this video. My tripod broke, and my editing software is on the fritz, lol! Trying something new with the editing. Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks so much for being here! :)

Thanks for the feedback, Beautiful! Much appreciated😊
"You won't know it doesn't work until it actually doesn't work" ....Yes!!! thank you!! What a great observation, so true. Going thru different options this season to see what I want for 2025. But realistically I know I'll change again next year! LOL
LOL! Yes! A lot of us are the same 😊
The dinner struggle is real! Heehee. I’m thinking of getting Factor or Hello Fresh meal kits.
I agree; not completing the daily pages on the hobonichi was stressful for me as well. I hate the blank pages.
I’m glad I’m not alone😊

That’s a great system. You must be an incredible cook😊

Great idea!! I love this! Mr. Calm and I appreciate your advice. We’re going to give this a try😊❤️
Completing daily pages stressing me out, too!!
Glad to know I’m not alone😊❤️
Ha! This is why I choose the Hobonichi in Japanese, I can't read it, it's just pretty symbols :) Also I put washi tapes over it.
Genius idea my friend! 😊
Another great video Cat. I like your honest opinions and that you are not afraid to take about your triumphs and fails. You’re my favorite RUclipsr!
Thanks so much!😊
I always struggle with what to do with planners that don’t work for me. I don’t like wasting money, but I also don’t want to use something I don’t like
Nice! Kits sound like a nice idea😊
I totally understand my friend. I think we all do😊
Keep them!! I swear I run back to planners or parts of planners over the years.. I hate one for one year… 2 years later it has a purpose with something new in my life💯💯 happy planning
@kimjames6028 so true!😊

Yikes! That’s insane. Hope change comes soon.
@@planningcalm Based upon the above information, have you considered maybe relocating back to the US?
I love your transparency!!! I wanted to love my Plum Paper so baaad but the paper drove me nuts!!!! Thanks for sharing all of these insights!✨
You are so welcome!😊
CAT! THANK YOU! THANK YOU, THANK YOU ❤❤❤. This video is what we all need when we are feeling bad about the $$$ spent on planners that don’t work out the way we hoped. I am so glad you shared your heart with us.

I pre-ordered the Twines and Paper A5 as well and I'm so excited. It's such an interesting, unique layout and I think it will work well for my brain.
Thanks for showing what exactly didn't work. Looking at the pages gave me a better idea of how the planners differ.
Glad it was helpful!😊❤️
I also have the Passionate Penny Pincher Planner for 2024. It is a BEAUTIFUL planner! I also felt bad for not being able to check all the boxes! I love the checklists it offers and think I’ll just use this one for reference in the future if needed.

lol! You know the struggle Sis! Life in Canada be tough, oy! I love my SI as well. It’s one of my fav planners😊

Nice! I miss DT planners so much. We don’t have that dollar store where I live. They always had a great selection😊
I felt the same way about the Cousin. I got the B6 Owl Paper and it is perfect for me. It’s a great size and it’s very minimal with undated daily pages.
Ooooh! That sounds exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll check it out. Thanks Sis!😊❤️

Oh no. It can be frustrating trying to find something that works for you. Good luck in your search my friend!😊
Also you get Ideas. It was worth it.
😊
"But it's part of the planner- I have to use it!"😂
😂😂😂

Brilliant! Love that😊
Thank you for sharing . I keep going back and forth on what to use for 2025. Too many choices , lol .
Love your videos!
I know what you mean. Thanks for watching sweet friend!😊

Ah, touché! I see your point, Grasshopper! You are wise. There is DEF some of that going on too😊🤭
I don’t care for planners with super thin paper. I like thick, heavy paper not tissue paper!! 🙂
I keep going back to happy planner because I can add, remove inserts as needed.
I know what you mean. The thin stuff is difficult for me to use, especially when I use thick, rich ink.

Hey Sis! I hate to throw things away so I reuse them as well. Turning them into scripture books is an excellent idea!😊
I do the same! My daily scripture readings, random ideas, glue down things that brought me joy that day lol 😆
I'd love to see a follow-up video about what planner(s) you WILL be using in 2025.
That will be coming later this fall😊
I’m not doing Hobonichi. I DID listen to seaweedkisses and got a 2024 pocket daily Moleskine to use for 2025 (I just black out the day of the week-no biggy) I’m so excited to use that and my Planner Perfect inserts in a personal TN for next year. So I’m sleeping on all these new releases.

Love you and your smart videos ❤ thank you
Glad you like them!😊❤️
I love this video soooooo much!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you😊🥰
As a stay at home mom I would still struggle to meet those checklist points daily. And it would drive me crazy also to not check it off on the day it says.
That’s good to know. I thought it was just we😂😂 Thanks for watching sweet friend!
Sooo which planners will you be buying for 2025?🙂
Not to be coy, but you will have to wait and see😊
I like this video! It’s so nice live and learn and it’s so normal to realize when popular planners don’t fit our lifestyle.
Glad it was helpful!😊
I sooo wanted to enjoy the Passionate Penny Pincher Planner and I’m actually hopping back in to it for q4 just to see if I can make it work! But I won’t buy one for 2025 either

Hemlock and Oak is in Canada! Maybe you could get a travelers size.
Thanks for the rec my friend!😊
Try a Reflection P,anger from Michaels. $35.00 😁
*planner
Thanks for the rec!😊
What do you do with planners that you don't use, have leftover pages, or too old? I have a lot of old school student agendas that I want to use up because it seems like a waste to throw away.
Hey sweet friend! I keep them or use them to practice calligraphy 😊

Aww…thank you😊😋
I'd love to know what you are picking 😅 for 2025
The jury is still out 😊 But I will be showcasing some planner options in the next couple of weeks
