Stoked to see where things are headed and be along for the ride 🤙
    Side note, because of some obscure issue, we haven't even been able to get the TFL board up and running with my preferred tune (using Yaw P set to 0.6), which for me was a game changer in allowing all my FM muscle memory for things like bonks and what not to transfer over. So I'm stoked for you to get to try that out when you get your board up and running.

    The VESC is essentially a controller upgrade NOT specific for the onewheel but for many applications including long boards, scooters or anything electric with motors. The software is the hard part as its open sourced for any applications, in this case the onewheel. The XR may have more power than the GT (with Vesc) but the GT is capable of putting out as much or more power with a vesc. The more heat you can disipate, the more power you can run, this is the limiting factor although the more power you run, the faster your battery will drain so this is important to note if you like that raw torque, it comes at a cost.
    If they can get the software to a good spot, itll be a fairly easy upgrade and software upload. I cant wait to see where this goes, i wanted to put a VESC in my scooter but they dont currently have any good display options and few ports for necessary buttons/switches. I would love to put one in my GT when they get this dialed in...

    Great video, something a little counter intuitive, but if you slow down your torque tiltback (increase the filtering), it will actually allow you to get over pump track bumps without triggering it. Tho i can't promise you'll be able to find a perfect sweet spot. i doubt that you can make engage/disengage fast enough to actually help on a pump track.
    If you want more nose up on transition ramps, you best bet is increase the mahony kp, as that will convert forwards deceleration into a temporary tail down, and your axis of movement changes as ride a transition.
    Also pretty much all the the things you requested are in the works. Tho it won't be plug and play, I do want any idiot to be able to get through a config process from scratch while following an external guide. Similar to how the motor config is now, you might need help knowing how many pole pairs you have, and what gear ratio to input, but you can do it without a day of study. But this of course does not need to be the end of all progress, just the next step.

    This warms my heart guys! 🥰
    Originally Kyle at FM was a hero when he invented the onewheel. But then he "shat the bed" real bad by becoming greedy, lawyer hungry, and oppressive against customer needs and legitimate criticism.
    Now YOU GUYS are the heroes! Users updating the VESC code and parameters, selling replacement batteries and controllers, and we are close to the point where people can buy all the parts they need to build a one wheeled board without needing to buy a single part from FM.
    Since we can't really call these new boards "Onewheel" maybe we should think of an exciting new name? Like a new branding for user created and developed wheels?
    VESCwheel?
    UserWheel?
    NotEvilWheel?
    fFMwheel? 😁
    An exciting, open source branding that is owned by EVERYBODY (not by one greedy company) could really help to popularise the new DIY boards and make people feel more confident that this is a REAL BOARD... not just some DIY guys making different weird versions for themselves but instead is something that can be known and trusted as an alternative to the FM product.
    I guess that what I am saying is we need a beginner friendly, standardised, DIY wheel that people will know what they are getting (and how it will ride) when they buy the parts and bolt it together... 🤔👍

      I've been more critical than most of how VESC rides, because you need to be critical to push it forward and so many people were constantly sugar coating it. And as someone who hated how it rode 2 months ago and was sketched by how it rode 2 weeks ago, I can confidently say I now enjoy it (with my tune) better than any FM board I've ridden. It's there.

    Also curious what you think about the spiked Clark rear and sensor pads from the Clark guy making the euc pads. Have you seen them? Thought they were a joke but after trying them on Mitch's board I kinda dig them.

    I love this.
    I mean, every sport requires innovation. FM is an echo chamber and as fun, as it is to vilify them, they're the only game in town for this type of ride. So anything that opens the playing field and makes them rethink stuff is excellent. If I had any money? I'd be looking at making kits / full-built boards that don't use the FM hub or parts. Until you can buy a kit that isn't a Frankenstein board and is all new parts, completely free of FM patents... we're still not "there" yet. If I was Chi or JW, I'd be looking into designing your own hubs and motors. Hell... I wouldn't be surprised that if in a year the TFL of C&R has a kit with FM free hub, TFL rails, JW or other battery and the VESC controller. Thats the future. Give the normies (guys like me) who want a polished off the shelf board a place to get it, but also the die hards and tinkiers a place to express themselves too. There's a market for both.

    This is good. Not at all into onewheel stuff but totally into the community telling companies to stuff it, this needs to happen everywhere, Apple, Tesla, car companies who charge monthly fees for remote starters when your car already has the hardware (and a fee for cellular service so you can use your phone isn't unreasonable but I'm talking even from your key), all the companies refusing repair parts or schematics when products used to have this stuff printed on big labels inside the product..we are letting 1984 happen but stuff like this gives me a tiny bit of hope. I literally have only heard but about VESC. Was wondering (if anyone here knows) how compatible it is with the GT? I know that with the GT being as new as it is and all the changes FM made there's still a good amount work to get it to XR level of after market support. Not looking to make any changes yet mind you, but I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for info and trying to educate myself on VESC and what not so I'll be more prepared when I do get to that point.

    Been looking into VESC more since my brother and I both had our onewheel XRs get an E16 and finding corrosion on the BMS and pretty much the cheapest option is replacing it with a used one for 500+ dollars. I'd be really interested in a video where you go over your build and why you used the parts and optio s that you used. Thanks for the video

    As an EUC rider, i've always been skeptical of the One Wheel. I love the concept, but I've heard how sketchy Future Motion can be, which has made me reluctant to try a One wheel. However, watching you carve and send it on that VESC makes me see that particular platform in a whole new light. You are an awesome rider. Great video!

    • @DarthTinderalla-qm9zw
      @DarthTinderalla-qm9zw 7 месяцев назад

      EUC seems objectively better in every aspect other than board tricks, and weight. And with a trolley handle the weight is rarely actually an issue for people without stairs.
      I'd probably rather wait for Float wheel to work out the kinks, and challenge the patents to accept regular money before I support an anti consumer company like fm

    • @ionflow1073
      @ionflow1073 7 месяцев назад

      @DarthTinderalla-qm9zw I agree, I don't expect FM to hang in there much longer. I just feel bad for the people who have already paid $2,000 + for something that will no longer be supported at all.
      EUC has really changed my life in ways that i never conceived before learning how to ride one. I suffer from depression and anxiety, but when I'm riding, I don't even think about that. It's just me and my trusty 16X on the street. However, I respect all PEV riders regardless of what they choose to ride. I started out on a Dualtron Ultra 2, and later, I got an Ariel Rider Grizzly ebike. I bought my first wheel (16X) out of sheer curiosity this past summer. I just love them all. Maybe someday I'll end up adding a VESC/Float Wheel to my collection, but first I have to save some more moooolah. Lol

    Looks like it handles the thicker grass better than my XR. Generally boggs out, then nose dives, making it hard to ride flat trails, which is why I decided on the XR in the 1st place.
