One of the main reasons why I returned to Japan yet again on this particular trip with Ryan Der was to attend this year's Attack event at the Tsukuba Circuit. I had so much fun last year being at Tsukuba for the first time that I had a feeling I would be back, but wasn't sure when being that the guys from JDMYARD weren't participating this year and William Au-Yeung, last year's record-breaker, wrecked his car some months after. Sometimes things just work out perfectly and Attack lined-up with the Osaka Auto Messe event and was exactly a week apart, so Der wanted to check it out for himself. I wasn't going to say no so we immediately booked our tickets and also dragged Yasu along with us to Tokyo. Attack is a special event being that it not only is held at a world famous track but some of the cars that show-up to compete are just completely insane. This is a long episode because I didn't want to split it in half, being that it made more sense to just leave it in its complete form. I'd rather have you take in the entire event and some of the fastest time attack cars in Japan all in one sitting.

Crazy to think, how cars like Ton's EG6 and GNR's EK9, have easily eclipsed the lap times of cars such as the Mine's or Top Secret R34's, which were some of the fastest cars at Tsukuba back in their day. Few FWD cars could even dream of dipping below a 1 minute lap, unless you had an (at the time) insane build like the SS Works CRX, which ran a 59 sec. lap and seemed like a rocketship to me, back in its heyday. Now, you have EG's and EK's, that are over 2 seconds faster than some of the most highly developed, AWD cars that we all grew up watching on Best Motoring. Never thought I'd see the day, where Civics are turning 56 second laps..
Man, it's really something when you start recognizing the different sounds of V6's, V8's, I6's, Flat 6's, a couple I4's. It's not just noise anymore. Don't hear any rotaries yet though!

Sorry, nitrous is not for straight line speed. It is used to spool turbo and low RPM. In some instances a 50shotnof nitrous came make a huge difference in torque and spool (like 150 ft-lb in mid-range torque)
