My problem with lawbringer, who I play faithfully, is that everyone and their mothers always manages to parry my heavy attack. I can throw out feints and mix it up, they still get the parry off.
I hope lawbro gets his heavy parry impale back after a while like how glad got his knock down toe stab back. Over 60 reps in him and it hurts my soul to see warmonger, cent. Jj, afeera and so on get 30 or more damage on a heavy parry when lawbringer’s only did 25. Why Ubi decided to delete the usefulness of the move (except in the one scenario where there’s a ledge behind your opponent) instead of reducing its travel distance baffles me.
I'm 7 months late to the party but I think when a rework happens (which is typically for the better) when people main that hero the muscle memory is SO ingrained i think it throws people off. A bad example for me was valk very first rework like years ago where you did the sweep from pulling backwards and using guardbreak. Then they changed it to just guardbreak button so it kinda tossed the 50 50 out the window cause I used to get 2 hits with valk then use a guardbreak instead of a sweep to catch people. Now I can't do that and its frustrating. Even tho the multiple reworks make the hero better it still messed with me. Especially with the all guard shield bash if it wiffed or someone dodged you could do a light attack and was mad effective. Can't do that anymore:(
1 thing about the impale is that if u hit a wall and longarm, I'm fairly sure u can get a side light into a corfirmed top light, netting u 30 damage. It's only 1 more but still 🤷♂️
I still hope the devs give him some more options as a “parry specialist” he’s not so special anymore in terms of the options he had available to him. Yet there is some good things that came with the rework. I just personally feel like the opportunity was wasted.
I hope Ubisoft does something for his top opener heavy; it was (and still is) meant to be used as a wallsplat punish, yet it always punishes the player for using it correctly.
One tip i learned was use the ub top in duels and the ub side in ganks, the top can soft feint and is a good mixup because they always have to make a resd, while the sides have a good cleave for target swapping and externaling
I feel like getting a successful impale to a wall should stun (similar to warmonger's impale inflicting bleed on a wall splat) It would at least make the move a little more useful.
We're on the same page when it comes to the wall: Only wallsplat if you plan to go for the longarm...which is anytime that you can do it. Some other things I found were that you can get a forward bash into side light after heavy parry for 13 damage instead of 12. Also, you can wallsplat to set up a guaranteed chain heavy by throwing forward, do backwards light and top heavy for 26 damage over 24. These were probably the tricks you mentioned already existed, but there is more incentive to use them now. RIP Guardbreak Longarm
Impale is so bad now. Only way for it to be good again without reverting the nerf is to copy Raider's choo choo train move from GB. Just giving an opponent a ride on the spiky end of a polearm, instead of over the shoulder.
What was their plan of action? I spent so much damn time on this character and got so much stuff for him, and now I feel like a bot and want to throw him in the garbage.
If you let go of them early before the impale reaches a wall you can get an extra move in and chain them all while knocking them to the wall still. Don’t sleep on it 😜
I’d love to see a roll catcher for lawbringer where he impales you and pins you so the ground for a free chain light. Or just make his roll catcher the pre-rework impale.
Am I the only one who’s pissed they for some reason didn’t green light his light chain? They said the goal of his rework was to remove the clunky feeling of him and provide more flow to his kit, yet they didn’t let his light chain go to live so he’s still stuck throwing a neutral light and then… well that’s basically it. A neutral light is forced to follow up with a heavy which has little to no mix up potential. I hate that so much.
No light attack from warlord does 20 damage. His highest damage light, is a cc that does 17. Not to mention that 20 damage heavy gives a 4 damage light free, for 24. 24, average damage.
@@manz7860 First off it’s a bo staff, not a stick. Second off, the only attack shaolin has that does more than 24 damage is none qi stance chain heavies. You know, no properties plain chain heavies. Meanwhile Lawbringer has a 32 damage finisher unblockable. A attack more likely to land, does more damage and is a actual mix. Please actually spend more than two seconds on this

And they also nerve is damaged so much that I am probably losing more fights that I would’ve won because his damages so low that other characters heavys deal more damage than his even though we’re supposed to get our unblockables easier they don’t want to have us be too powerful. I just call that favoritism of others because you know the lawbringer mains aren’t a big part of the community and so you can get away with such a big nerf without much criticism.

This might be my least favorite rework they have ever done. Its like typing with the pinky on your left hand backwards. Its not a a huge change, could work around it, everything is pretty much the same but it all feels just different enough to feel worse. I hate it more than if they just top to bottom reworked him.
Even though lb is my most played character with something like 32 days counted on the timer in game this rework almost made no difference to me the only thing I fell is my ability to enter my finisher is faster especially for pressure or just to be annoying especially in ganks but other then that I haven't really changed anything heck I almost think doing a second heavy instead of the quick tap light to catch panicked dodgers if you delay it is still more effective then anything else in his kit cause everyone through the 2nd light so when you throw a 2nd heavy instead they cease to function all together

Same goes for the bash after heavy. Why do anything other than light combo? They straight up ruined this character, and despite constant rebuttal from the so called comp players, I actually enjoyed the "disabler, parry counter attacker" playstyle of the character. He was unique in that sense, but I cant win on the stun topic because apparently you guys have light sensitivities or chronic epilepsy or some shit idk.

Wall splat off of Impale should stun. At least it wouldn't be useless anymore 🤷

I tried that out, and it is not confirmed. Maybe if the opponent attempts to dodge, but not normally.

This was very helpful, I used to play a ton of him back when the game first came out and it's been hell getting back into him
Also after the wallsplat they get a guaranteed light because you don’t have hyperarmor on the finisher and the second light doesn’t stun

I like stuff from both. But if I had to choose, it would be previous LB. He was more viable for duels. But the new one feels better for 4s.

Yep. Typically only happens with heroes who have quick light chains.
