Old World's HERBMEISTER 40th Anniversary & Retirement Celebration 2022

It is with great pleasure that Old World Huntington Beach introduce to you… the man, the myth, the legend… THE HERBMEISTER!
Herbert Schwarz “The Herbmeister” Schwarz, a celebrity in his own right, has been the MC of the Oktoberfest at Old World Village in HB, California, for the past 40 years, since 1983! It’s official: The Herbmeister is retiring this year of 2022.
On May 2, 1948, in the city of Zams/Tirol, Austria, Herbert Schwarz (aka The Herbmeister), was born.
Herb immigrated to the United States at the age of 8 with his mother, brother Manfred (7 years older) & Uncle Hugo. After a 2-week sojourn across the Atlantic, on June 18, 1956, they arrived at Ellis Island, New York. After a 3-day train ride, Herb and his family settled in Los Angeles, California, three miles south of downtown.
From grades 3 to 8, Herb attended Holy Cross Grammar School. On June of 1966, he graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, an all-boys Roman Catholic college-prep school. After two years of Seminary training, Herb chose to make his living in the secular arena. He became a proficient communicator in various careers and managed several small companies. While fluent in German & adequate in Spanish, Herb has excellent command of the English language & is an accomplished writer & editor.
Blessed with a diverse and colorful background, many of his most memorable and joyous parts of his life revolved around his Soccer Club Danubia, with whom he played for 25 years. Herbie, as many of his close friends still call him, was especially blessed with all the good times and genuine camaraderie he enjoyed in their Social/Excursion Club, Club Edelweiss!
Herb’s number one passion is soccer! His favorite pastimes are singing, pocket billiards, and table tennis. He was a board member of his German soccer club, D.S.V. Danubia, for 15 years, as well as a member of the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church German Choir in Los Angeles, for 25 years.
A man with strong family values, Herb is very close to his three children, Heidi, and her identical twin brothers, Bryan and Brendan, who are now all married & have their own families. He currently resides near Palm Springs!
