@Reaper Asylum: They're pretty much bomb proof, chances are if you can break an IRS, anything you would of used would have broken! They don't get used in custom builds because they're fragile.

He has cut everything in peaces and there is just the hood and couple fenders left from the vehicle. Worst case its fully working machine people chop into these and trow away everything else with out even trying to sell parts forwards, witch i really do not understand -.- Frame like that with drive components barely operational would be like 400€ around here and i dont see any sane person trowing 400€ away even if they have money to spare.
@@Hellsong89 You're looking at this as if it were a sensible project. Um, have you been paying attention? These guys make ATVs from old motorcycle engines and kid's toys. If you're worried about the utility of this project and the working potential of its components, complain about the misappropriation of the engine... maybe the transmission too. IMO, the tractor was well beyond its useful life as a tractor. It's not a museum piece, and it probably wasn't so great when it was new. It's probably more pragmatically valued as scrap. As far as I can see, only the hydrostatic transmission might be re-purposed. Why not have some fun?
The jag rear end is a great call. Has it's own subframe and everything needed to bolt right in. My uncle who was a factory Jag mechanic told me that this was a common practice on old rat rods. Perfectly appropriate.

Thats how a lot of old tractors were designed. For lack of better term, the "bellhousing" was the front of the chassis. The engine attached to that and the front wheel arms mounted to the front of the engine block
I believe the greatest benefit of having a 2jz in a lawn mower, besides power, is the ultra smooth I6 rotating assembly. A beer in the cup holder won't foam over and get gross. This alone addresses the most troublesome lawn mower problem. Brilliant 👏

You need an automatic transmission. That would make it a lot easier and probably more fun to drive and it's compact state. Would probably allow you to send it harder.

If you're wanting more of a very well running tractor then look in to the Kohler carb swap. Only a seasoned Simplicity veteran would know it's been changed out. They're cheap too. At least compared to a nice original Simp carb. You can find them on Ebay or Isavetractors. There is documentation on the carb mods that need to be done on Facebook in the Allis 720 group.
Glad to see this finally being built! I would imagine that those bars on the bottom would help prevent axle wrap. So when you go to do some burnouts, or pull a sled, the axle will likely try to twist and start hopping.. no fun! We’ve used the jag rear ends in hotrods for years. Great set up!
@@reggiexp69 Simplicity makes compact tractors with the 9020 Powermax being their biggest and arguably best ever made. They didn't make that many as they were very expensive(around $15k in 1970's money). They can still bring thousands even though they are 40+ years old and in rough condition. There are sites/groups dedicated just to this tractor and it's variants(4040,4041). Every manufacture of tractor, car, tool has a following and a holy grail, this is Simplicity's. It's not something people are really collecting to just show off, but to actually use on smaller 1+acre properties. However they are restored and shown off. They are kind of like a Swiss Army knife where they can do everything a residential tractor can do and a huge farm tractor can, just in a compact package.

Guys used those Jaguar rear ends with inboard brakes on custom projects a lot back in the 80s and 90s. Was a pretty slick custom touch to a hotrod or custom whatever. Remember them at car shows
That explains why the "Jag rear end" was such a common kit car specification I read about as a kid. There is a local maker of Cobra replicas here in New Zealand called Graham Berry who goes way back. His Almac and "Berry Cobras" are world renowned for their quality and I remember the Jag rear end being an important part of what makes them great.
the rear set up from the jag is like the 2 horses Citroene made's some years ago , 2 break disc rights out of the front Dif ,so cool keep doing what you does
Really cool and original project considering lots of folks would love a 2J in they're car let alone a mower lol. Those are trailing arms on that rear subframe to keep the rear wheels from deflecting and toe-ing in or out. The e36 has a major ass puckering factor when the RTABS are blown out. Most cars will want to 'step out.'
I had forgotten about this lurking beastie! If you were to be looking for a follow on project behind Colonel Senders 4WD, 100 hp, this would be what would come to mind! The Jag rear end ought to take the 2JZ- hot rodders have put upwards of 500-600 hp through them for cars weighing 2500 lbs.. Lots of stoppers in that axle group too!If Colonel Senders didn't scare you out of this insanity, the Jay Zed will do a better job for sure! No worries on this end- have already got pop corn in hand.KOKO
Those links you were talking about give you all your fore/aft stability in that suspension, they're pretty important, even on a mower. Especially a mower with a 2jz in it. I would seriously work to incorporate them back into your build. It wouldn't be hard to run your own made links up to the sides of the frame rails.

The trailing arms are there to keep the independent axles from moving forward or back since there's not much to hold them steady.

Looks like a Ford 9 to me too. It would be easy to narrow as long as they could come up with custom shafts.
They make aftermarket axles for shortened rear-end. Based off the video their just gunna use the other unit
More like a 60's Chrysler/Dodge rear end. 8.75, front dump chunk, to my eye.
