Shaving With My Scuttle!

- Today I bring out my G20 Georgetown Pottery Scuttle. The G20 is the size and it's the biggest one they make 20oz. What made me think of using this was the feeling to have a hot shave with eucalyptus namely my Mr. Warlock shaving soap a favorite of so many. Some only use it for the holiday season others, well, they use it all year long.
The scuttle is a strange wet shaving tool. This one is big, bulky, and heavy. The way a scuttle works is pretty simple it works by transferring the heat from hot water added to the inside of the scuttles reservoir causing whatever is in its cup to be heated. You place your soap or cream inside the cup and start slowly building up to an amazing hot rich lather.
Making lather is not that hard in a scuttle but if you are used to a wide shaving bowl it just not going to happen with a scuttle, Most of them are smaller due to the nature of how a scuttle is made so lathering will be more like beating eggs in a small bowl it's differently doable.
When I applied the lather with my brush it truly was heaven with the hot eucalyptus scent filling the den and that refreshing feeling on my face it has to be one of the best shaving experiences.
Also in today's RUclips video, I talk about a few Netflix and other Movies I've seen such as The Menu, The Pale Blue Eye, Glass Onion, The Banshees of Inisherin, and White Noise
So that's all I have for this week
As always be kind to one another

FAQ - Hey! what’s that razor you always use? It’s called Occam’s Razor Enhanced-Nano or O.R.E.N for short. I was a backer on Kickstarter and got in as an early bird for $45.00. then it was released to the public for 125.00 During COVID it got up to $225.00 due to shipping issues to and from China. Remember the one I have is the O.R.E.N it has a hollow handle. As of this writing, they have none in stock. www.classicsha...

I have the exact scuttle 😊 I bought it in 2015 I think
Hi Donald- Great scuttle shave; thank you! Nothing like some warm lather when shaving! Lots of good entertainment streaming and on cable television right now. I hope you have a great weekend. Be safe and be well. See you next Saturday. All the best, my friend!
Thanks for watching Mike Yes streaming has some great shows and a new one I'm watching now is on HBO MAX called The Last of US it was a video game on the Play Station. Now it's an amazing series maybe give it a try
Thanks my youngner friend
and thank you, my Young friend
Excellent shave. Spoken as someone who has too much crap, I don't know why I don't own a scuttle. Pale Blue Eye was a terrific movie. The Menu is saved to be watched soon. Glass Onion was also very entertaining.
Hi Pat your movie wave length seems the same as me. Next week I'll be talking about something else I found on HBO MAX called The Last of Us. It began as a Video Game and now an amazing series
@@MrDonXX I've already watched the first episode.
Hi Donald very nice Shave. The Scuttle makes a really great job. That's a great invention! Have a great weekend 😊
Yes, the scuttle is amazing a Dr invented it and faxed what he came up with to the pottery artisan a flash of genius. Thanks for watching
@@MrDonXX Thanks 🙏
Great shave, I agree, Skuttles don't get used as often as they should. If a friend says "I don't want to hang out with you anymore" rest assured he has a new woman in his life that had told them they can't hang out with you anymore.
Yup, You would think that a new woman entered his life thanks for watching
Nice scuttle Don, great shave
hello from Monterrey Mexico
Thank you for the kind words and welcome to our community Abraham 😀
Terrific shave Don
thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching my friend
warm lather definitely makes a difference, regards dapper shaves
It sure does my friend and thanks for watching
I like to warm up my copper shaving bowl 🥣 and put in some shaving soap it makes great shave 🪒have a nice day 💈☃️
What a wonderful idea thanks for watching Brian
Good morning Don, good morning everyone.
I use a scuttle when there is snow on the ground.
Hi Chuck oh yes understood I just had to do it this week and for me the shave was worth it thanks for watching say hello to Mary Ann for me all the best my friend
Beautiful scuttle! I’ve grown out my beard for several months, and I bought the oil and the balms with the fancy beard comb and brush. However I didn’t like it. I shaved it all off, and I felt great! Then I realized I can get back to my shaving RUclips videos. I watch a lot, but you sir have the best videos! I’m glad I’m back to shaving. I’m sure a beard looks better on me since I’m overweight and carry it in my face, but I don’t care! Lol I miss shaving and now I’m going to buy some WTF product’s because it’s been a long time!!
Well thank you for the kind words and Welcome back we missed you. I once didn't shave for two weeks and my dry cleaner told me I was putting on weight so I know having a beard makes you appear heavier than you are. We released some new products since you have been away so take a look online. Thanks for watching
Wow…Don…the amount of soap you used was unreal. I’m guessing it was about 3 or 4 times the amount I use in my “Fine” shaving bowl. I use about an almond size amount and it’s more than enough to do three passes and some touch-ups….usually Proraso tube cream.
You do undertand that I make my own shaving soaps right? Can you imagine how many of them I have at hand? The amount I use is really a preference for each individual if someone want you use more than me I say be my guest. Someone who does not have the ability to have so many shaving soaps at had would naturally be more conservative.
@@MrDonXX Well Sir…..if you make your own soaps….just go overboard on the amount you use. I was just viewing as a poor schlup….who sees $20+ prices for some of these soaps…..and is frugal about making them last as long as possible.
Awesome scuttle shave! Have a super week Don!
Thank you JT same to you and thanks again for watching
oh yes sir been a long time since i broke the scuttle out and i do enjoy it . going to have to break that out for a shave this week 👍
Hi Paul yes the scuttle need to be used now is the time my friend all the best
bro was going to town on his shirt
Sometimes this happens - thanks for watching my friend
You always manage a close shave...scuttle or not. Cold water shaves in the summer and hot water shaves in the winter. I usually face lather but I can heat up my copper bowl when I get the urge for some warmer lather. Hope all is well.
The copper bowl trick is great it beat the process of the scuttle thanks for watching Bart
Hi Don. Great shave. Nice scuttle. I’ve been thinking of getting one. Take care my friend.
I like mine I just completely dry off and place on my antique dresser as a decoration but I got the phoenix shaving scuttle. Have you tried boiling hot water in it?
The water in my home comes out so hot one could call it dangerous once the water is in my scuttle it take no time at all to actually heat but one thing I've never done is use a microwave.
No I just boil water in tea kettle
love your display idea, regards dapper shaves
Hi Don, scuttles are luxurious but take up a lot of real-estate and too fragile for me. I guess that's why I'm partial to face lathering Thanks
I get it - thanks for watching my friend
agreed, face lather is less complicated, I have many vintage scuttles and need to really be careful as they are fragile. regards dapper
A beautifully painted scuttle 👍🏼.
Never had a scuttle myself. I might consider buying a no ceramic, unbreakable one.
Regards, Patrick
I think that's a good idea one mistake on the counter and this guy is toast. You might like them besides the plastic ones a lot less in price as well. if you wind up not liking it no big investment was made.
Good morning
Good morning to you as well Jimmy thanks for watching
@@MrDonXX your welcome
My Scuttles under the sink currently for our Summer months but like getting it out for a warm lather shave every now and then. Normally I'm a warm water shaver irrespective of season. That Eucalyptus soap would be great clearing the nose in the cooler months. Take care and keep safe.👍🤠
Excellent shave as usual Don. Hot lather shaves are the best if you want to put up with the slight inconvenience. I don't know how you get everything and as close as you do in 1 pass. It drives me crazy. I've seen White Noise and it was decent.
It's the way I've been shaving for over 40 years so it's nothing special and yes White Noise was decent thanks for watching
No blood?
Why did you expect any?
Hey, first one here Donald. I have been doing cold water shaves for a while since my hot water spigot broke in my sink. Have to get a plumber in when I get a chance. Cold water shaves are great in the Summer, but not in the Winter in my opinion. Be good!
OH yes, Plumbing issues are terrible I live next to a plumber and he still charged me an arm and a leg for a simple repair. What a nice guy! - lol have a great weekend thanks for watching
I've tried it with cold water and it doesn't work for me.
