Such a fun technique! I love waxing paper they feel so lovely!! I used this technique for my leaf fussy cuts in the September kit. I cut out the leaves, crinkled and massaged the paper (after I cut them out) to break the fiber and make them more pliable and give them a leaf-like texture. I then waxed them and before the wax cooled I shaped the leaves. After they cooled they hold their shape even when they are pressed inside my journal. For a more rigid leaf that I could use as a charm I just added a bit more wax. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial. 💕
I had a chuckle with scraping the candle. My grandma taught me to peel potatoes and I always peel towards me, to the horror of those around me. Personally, I have more control. I’ll need to give this a try. It’s making the rounds again in the crafting community. Thanks for sharing.
WOW, I love the fact that you experiment with us on camera, what could work vs what couldn't work, that's wat the RUclips is all about, and I love it ❤❤❤❤, keep doing wat you do BEST ❤❤❤
Hi DJ, I was just thinking about what to do with my bee’s wax! This is a great idea, as well as making lip balm. I also love your plantain oil tip. I love how these papers have turned out, they’re just gorgeous. Thanks for another great video. I’m off to collect some more wax from my bee hive. 😂 😀🐨🦘🇦🇺
@@hitherandyonstudio Surprisingly bees are really interesting creatures, despite their small size! I’d love to send you some wax but don’t think I could, due to quarantine issues. 😢
This is sooo nice! It reminds me of something I used to do with the kids .... 1)we made fish and under the sea things and cut them out 2) used crayon shavings 3)Put the "under ocean " paper cut outs on a sheet of wax paper ... then put the crayon shavings on ... then put another piece of wax paper on top... 4) I put a brown paper bag over it ( oh and under it too ) Then ironed it all together.. so when you lifted the brown paper you had a sorta sea through ocean scene . I hope that makes sense but this technique would look nice as a little something to put into this beautiful kit . I'll test it out . Do you have FB? I can post when I do. ❤
I love to wax different paper and sometimes thin textil. But one problem i have with the waxed material and that is how to glue and with what sort of glue?
You could also probably use the zester side of a manual cheese grater to get tiny wax shavings safer, just a thought.
I found a little grater with a little handle possibly at All a Dollar that works fantastic.
my tought as well, save a lot of time and fingers :)
I use a mucro grater. Works wonderfully.
Ive also done this on coffee filters. It comes out nice
Ooooo now I have to try that!!!

More comfortable
Towards me too. Safer for me. I’m so happy you’re here.

Thank you. I make many mistakes and I hope seeing them helps you avoid them!
Putting oil on paper also makes it translucent, so you don't have to worry about it melting, but the wax feel will be missing.
Thanks I will try that 😊
Love this gonna give it a try❤❤😊
Love the look! I do also use coconut oil
Awesome!!
You can use napkins on book pages with the wax.
You could use scented melts to make the paper smell good. Thanks for sharing! ❤
Great idea! Thank you for watching 😀
Thanks for doing the book pages! I actually really like the fact that you can see through to the “other side” .
Glad you like them!
I really love waxed paper! I just dnt know what to w it
Great idea, thanks for the reminder! I would love to try this on a book page with text on one side and a sketch-like illustration on the other.
I bet that would be so unique. Great idea!!

True I would not advise it. I have a bunch. I do appreciate the gesture 💕
I think I'll try this on the Amazon brown packing paper. Thanks DJ
What a great idea. I’m interested in how it’ll turn out.
These are so much fun! I actually really liked the book page with the writing on both sides. It made it look like a secret code
I thought it was cool too. I’d make it work
Very n̈ice ❤
Neat technique! I'll have to try it 🤔
this is really fun!!! I'm going to try it!!!
Yayy!! It is super fun!!
I forgot about this. Thanks for the reminder 😊❤
Fantastic
Great technique! Thanks so much.
So nice ☺️
I watch your videos over and over to learn and create!
Love to hear that Betty. Thank you so much!
So many options with this method. Thank you. A little hint designate a cheese grater for the candle. ❤
Great tip!! Thank you for sharing!!
This is really, really cool 😎 !
This is a very cool technique! I would like to give this a try.
Go for it!
What a great idea and such wonderful results. 😊
Thank you. I hope you try it.
Oh wow I use to do this long time. Thank u
Happy reminder
Hallo u can also use baby oil
I’ve always wanted to learn how to do this type of process!
Thanks, DJ for reminding me about waxing paper.
✨❤️
Wow I have never heard of this technique. I will try it for sure. Thank you GG❤
You’re welcome 😊 ha! GG. Love it!!!
You read my mind, I was going to ask about fabric.
Love your videos!
Glad you like them! Thank you for watching. 😊
Love this 💝💖 Have you ever tried just rubbing the wax on the paper ?… 🤔 Maybe warming the paper just briefly with the iron first…?
I have not. This is how I’ve always done it. Does it work that way?
@@hitherandyonstudio Not sure 🤔 Was wondering if you knew… 💖

OMGoodness how fun. Yes there is a FB group. Hither and Yon Create Space. I hope I see you there.
Coeld you use an old cheese grater toget the wax off of the candle?
I used an old 4 sided grater on the cheese side and the result was awesome!
Yes! Thats a great odea
@@Hyblakey awesome thank you, going through my draw to pull one outbthsg has been used🤣
Can you grate the candle?
I imagine you could yes.
I love to wax different paper and sometimes thin textil. But one problem i have with the waxed material and that is how to glue and with what sort of glue?
I’ve used 3-in-1 glue or sew them
I use baby oil, quick and easy.
What's the process for that please.
How does it dry?
I just rub it on with cotton wool
@@AYorkshireLass01 thank you
OMG! I missed this.😐 Watching the replay now. So, sorry.😢
It wasn't a live...just a regular video. Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
😊💕💕
Hello😊
Hello 😊 Hope you enjoy the video!
I rub a candle on the hot iron and let it drip onto the paper then iron it over the paper.
Bold
I had some scrapbook paper ink bleed as the wax melted.
Oh wow. Thats interesting. What brand of paper did you use?
Has anyone tried colored wax? Curious
It's a bit more expensive but easier to use beeswax and melt it right onto iron and onto paper. No need for anything but parchment on the bottom.
That’s really cool but I’m guessing you wouldn’t be able to write on it.
You could also probably use the zester side of a manual cheese grater to get tiny wax shavings safer, just a thought.
Great tip!!
