I’m hoping for the best interpretation of Superman yet. For me, it’s all about characterization because that’s been Superman’s problem in the past. There have been great versions like Reeve, Welling, and Hoechlin but I don’t think any of them are perfect. Like the way we’d had great Batmans in the past, Pattinson was finally the comic accurate Batman I had been waiting for. I would love the story to focus on Superman’s no kill rule and belief in humanity because that is the kind of inspiring Superman I like. These are the keys for me, but a lot of the things you mentioned can help make it an even better movie.
I'm just hoping it won't have marvel-esque humor in it.
If The Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn matched the tone of Guardians of the Galaxy, This film that’s also directed by him will also have his humor so don’t be shocked

Almost everything you want in Superman is what we got in The Batman. A great score, a great look, excitement for the future, etc. I hope Superman has that same effect. The Batman and the MCU Spider-Man films are the best things to compare Superman to in my opinion.
There's nothing wrong with the trunks & you're kind of proving Gunn's main point in the movie. Superman is described as "kindness in a world that see's kindness as old fashioned ways"😂
ye, they can accept superman with dark colors but not one with trunks, they accept MOS even though it strays from the true character of superman but can't accept Gunn's superman who is already more faithful to the true character just from one photo and a film that's not even done filming😂

I agree that giving the CGI department less work and NOT rushing them is best. I have to admit that I don't get f***** by green screen. I get pulled into the universe of movies and TV shows and completely except it as the reality of that universe.

I think it would be cute if they brought back the “You’ll believe a man can fly.” Tag line for this movie to show that the effects are much higher quality than what Marvel has put out lately.

You say the story is king ( and you are right), but for me character is more important. I can enjoy a just okay plot if the film has really strong characters and dialog (and that’s Gunn’s strength so I’m not very concerned about that)
As for the humor/tone, I’m 90% positive the reason Gunn put Guy Gardner (and maybe even Metamorpho) in his script was to give himself an outlet for his typical brand of humor. I believe Supes will not be crass or overly jokey
but in all fairness, the guardians films never was TOO jokey, they never told an unfunny joke to break a serious emotional moment, He only uses humor as apart of a character's characterization.
Great video, I agree with most of your points. Well-timed light comedic quotes need to make a comeback in the Superman movies. Like Reeve's line after saving Lois from the helicopter accident "Well, I hope this little incident hasn't put you off flying miss. Statistically speaking of course, it's still the safest way to travel."

When Man Of Steel had 'Godzilla' Vibes in it, every fan screamed about how Clark caused too much collateral damage and unnecessary death in his fight with Zod.
Gunn will likely pull his punches with Superman to avoid upsetting the Man Of Steel/DCEU haters when it comes to the action.

This is going to be a humor filled movie. You can tell by the color palette and all the other characters involved.
Part of the reason the CGI often looks rushed is that they spend all this time on a movie, crap their pants after one test screening and reshoot half of it, getting rushed and crap CGI on the reshoots.

Agreed on this film needing a good score. John Williams and Hans Zimmer set high bars with their respective themes, and even the music on Superman and Lois is great. I think that music so intertwined in the DNA of Gunn's films like The Suicide Squad or the Guardians film that there'll probably be SOME songs there, but I would like to be wrong, more so since Superman is a different beast compared to his other comic book films. It's just such a part of his pattern that I wouldn't be surprised.

The trunks only works if the story's setting is set in the 1930's-1950's when they had strong men circus shows. It was a common occurrence back then, but you don't see that anymore. Not even in pro wrestling so either have the setting during that era or loose the shorts! It's just that simple!!!

The 10 things you mentioned are everything the Christopher Reeve Dick Donner Superman movie had. Gunn who is a huge fan of that movie knows this and I believe his Superman movie wiill be modeled exactly after that, and have that just stepped out of a DC comicbook appeal to a mass cinema audience that have been waiting for just that. I would like to see his mother make the suit for Superman with trunks. This is actually, among a few things I wanted in MoS instead of him getting a suit from Krypton. Also, it would be interesting if Superman don't understand Krypton language like in MAWS did.
For this movie it wouldn’t make sense because he has a fortress of solitude and in most continuities Superman learns everything about krypton in the fortress including the language
@@liammaldonado5610 I'm not talking about him learning his heritage. I'm just talking about the suit he is wearing. In comics, it's his mother who make him his suit by using the blanket as cape. This is always one of the best moments in Superman comics and it would be a really heart warming scene for a movie about hope and family and humanity.

The top 3 things for me are a great screenplay, a Superman-centric film and Superman portrayed a strong, self-confident and enjoying his powers.
Will Gunn deliver that? Mixed signs. The overcrowding of the film with JSA characters but none from Superman's gallery of friends and foes is troubling. Where are Toyman, Emil Hamilton, Manchester Black and so many more. That tells me Gunn's focus is on setting up other DCU projects as opposed to telling a Superman story.
Bosworth co-stars with Corenswet - unlike previous films where Cavill, Routh and Reeve were the stars. Will the film be as much about Lois as Clark/Superman. Will Lois be the stronger character that "saves" Superman as Brosnahan sort of teased? Rumor is that Gunn wrote the script with Brosnihan in mind as Lois. To that end the release of the first revel of Corenswet was Superman was disappointing. He morose and hardly awe-inspiring.
The jury is out with red warning signs of possible trouble ahead.

While it’s not really a hope for the movie, one thing I’m hoping for with the DCU and Superman himself is a more friendly World’s Finest. When they weren’t fighting I enjoyed Superman and Batman’s interactions in the DCEU (especially the “I bought the bank” one at the end of both versions of Justice League, mostly because of Clark’s reaction to Bruce saying that), but I’m hoping the DCU will take less notes from The Dark Knight Returns and more from things like the DCAU or the Public Enemies comic and animated movie, where they’ll definitely disagree on some things but it’s still clear through stuff like their banter that they are genuinely close friends

One thing for me is I hope they do something similar with Man of Steel and that's do a movie without Kryptonite. We constantly hear about Kryptonite being the only weakness he has and we all know that's not true. I want it to be shown that he can have a physical antagonist or situation that challenges him and hopefully opens the eyes to a few people that Superman has more depth to him, be it mental or physical.
Haha good job, you had me there with the trunks thing. I hate the trunks too. I do think he’ll loose them but I won’t hate the movie for it if he doesn’t. But you are absolutely right. Gotta be a great story and everything else was on the money too. I do like good music to be in these movies but with a Superman movie it can’t dominate the background (if that makes sense) gotta be a great score. Honestly, I think he’ll get it done. I really do. I trust Gunn. I love Snyder and wish we were continuing his run but I’m good with Gunn and think he’ll get this done and he’ll get it done right
I don't necessarily have 10. I agree that story is the most important. It needs to be a good story and not have any plot holes in it. I agree that they have to get the right balance of humor, and it shouldn't be juvenile. I agree that it needs a great score. I don't agree that score for Man of Steel was any good. if they can't come up with something great, I agree that they should use the greatest superhero score of all, the one by the greatest composer of the second half of the 20th century, John Williams. As far as Superman and Friends go, if it's a good story, it's okay to have some friends. I understand that James Gunn has already cast Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, the big mouth among Green Lanterns. I don't know if he realizes that years ago Sheldon on Big Bang Theory complained that Berlanti cast Ryan Reynolds instead of Nathan Fillion as GL. Of course that was the Hal Jordan GL. I'm not sure if Nathan is up to playing the rage that eventually turns Guy Gardner into a Red Lantern, or if indeed Gunn will even go that route. If the story's good, however, have Guy will enhance the film rather than undermine it, sort of like having Punisher in Daredevil.
Like The Batman Dark Knight trilogy movies for intense is about more grounded and real as you can possibly get , i think Christopher Nolan would of made Superman very realistic than ever before
I'm fine with them not going to all the actual locations and using the volume or green screen as long as its not noticeable and still feels real, The Batman is an example of using the volume perfectly there were shots i genuinely thought were shot on location only to find they used the volume and in all honesty great CGI should feel/look perfectly blended into the environment so again even if they use ton of it if you don't notice it and it feels practical and real then they've done a great job...

That’s odd I get notified that this came out. Just checked the channel myself.
I prefer to have an open mind and not have too many inhibitions regarding the upcoming movie. That’s the only I can enjoy the movie for what it is and not what it isn’t. I think having expectations will cloud my judgement while watching the movie and it might lead to ruin my experience. First I will watch the movie without any pre-fabricated expectations and later I can judge it against Cavill’s or Reeve’s versions.

See i think this depends its not a blanket statement like ant-man and the wasp: quantumania takes places primarily in the quantum realm, theres no real location to go to film there, now they do have real sets and a lot of the quantum people are actually like practical and costumes and prothsteitcs -- very star wars esque but there's no way to film there without the volume. And similarly a film like the marvels and guardians takes place primarily in space and other planets and they do use practical sets and locations but they also obviously will utilize thr volume from like space ship scenes for example, not only because they obviously csnt go to space but also the interractive lighting is real. So i dont think this just a blanket statement it depends on the story of the film and what that requires.
9. Again here i think take cues from a film like the marvels and quantumania and loki even (im mentioning these ones a lot cus theyre the most recent) they meld cg AND practical effects togethee. The marvels in particular here since superman has a lot of powers that will need cg to really sell and the marvels, imo did a great job blending cg and practical with great and engaging camera work

I disagree with you. I don't want that much focus on Lois . I want it to have a fuck ton of action that's one thing I loved about man of steel. It had plenty of Lois but not an over abundance I do not want it to be that much like the Reeves films
Imagine of the very first trailer we see has none of the things that Our Movie News mentioned. LOL Too much humour, Bad score, bad visuals, bad story all of it.
About the music in James Gunn films: The music does have a place of being there. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, the song The Chain by Fleetwood Mac plays. This is used to make the theme of the movie more clearer. The Guardians are nobodies but together they are like chains, working together and not against each other. The song is also used in The Suicide Squad by Gunn (when it is raining outside the Starro military base). Another example is Creep by Radiohead in Guardians Vol 3 at the start of the film because Rocket thinks that inside, that he is creep. He did not ask be that way. So I do think that traditional music can be in Superman if Gunn uses it properly.
The visuals: I personally think that some of the "brighter colours" were by WB so that it matches the MCU (just look at all the colours in Thor: Love and Thunder for example). I personally think that the reason they did this is so the movie is like a comic book rather than a film. Over time the MCU got sillier and it showed by the visuals of the films. I think the reason of this is because they want you to feel like you are reading a comic. I don't think that Guardians 3 or The Suicide Squad looked bland. It is a comic book movie after all.
I say the Superman suit is clearly too big for Superman. I say it’s an ancestral suit and he doesn’t fit in the thing we know David corns sweat is 6 foot four and his arms are huge. How come he still looks too small in this thing? also, I think the reason the face on Superman looks horrible and the news photos because they’re trying to keep Clark Kent identity a secret. You have to understand Superman‘s face won’t look like the ones in the news headline pictures David corn sweat looks like David corn sweat you’re gonna get a better face.

The operator of this YT channel is constantly whining the narrative that “James Gunn’s movies are all comedic and light-hearted” - conveniently ignoring Yondu-Starlord emotional arc in Vol.2, Rocket’s journey with the High Evolutionary and fellow captive test animals, Nebula’s character arc of redemption and the maturing of Gamora-Nebula bond. He is already heavily biased against Gunn and still to this day hate the fact that Gunn is the head of DC Studios, and want us to feel in the same bigoted way. We won’t, Vol.3 was the best work of the MCU since Endgame and I want DCU to have all the beautiful and whacky elements that incorporate the beautiful brain of the mastermind James Gunn is.
While I agree that "the YT operator" does give Snyderverse fan vibes sometimes, he does come across as fair and open-minded to me. He is entitled to his opinion, as you are yours, but I do agree that Marvel and DC should have different tones.

Interestingly, they’ve promised the tone of DCU will vary from project to project, say Lanterns and Supergirl would be serious stuff and Superman could be bit more cheerful and light-hearted yet full of heart and emotions.
