Yes.. Mellon Collie is a great album.. my favorite album actually. And your reasons do make sense. Billy's voice and the unique sound really made them so great. I think the Pumpkins are way underrated though.. they are MY favorite band and deserve to be called one of the greatest of all time.
Now that they've brought out the new album, I can't get enough of the old stuff again. Top quality. I was mad about the Pumpkins as a schoolkid, I just hope their new stuff is more Melon Collie than Machina. Anyone heard Zeitgeist yet?
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DONT KNOW. SMASHING PUMPKINS WROTE TWO VERSIONS OF THIS SONG. 1)The beginning is the end is the beginning - watchmen 2)the end is the beginning is the end - batman This is not a remix or anything of that sort. They are simply two songs with almost same lyrics but different tempo. The songs were singles released on the same cd, by the same band, and at the same time. The version playing now is the batman version. (end, beginning, end) not (beginning, end beginning)
I think I'm a fan of both versions equally. You've got to appreciate the awesomeness (lol) of both. And yeah, Corgan creeps me the hell out too (its the Unborn boy) but you gotta admire his talent, albeit not as much as he himself does.
This was in the 1997 movie, Batman & Robin. You can see Ahhnold, as Dr Freeze, in the video too. For what's it's worth, I totally forgot about this song until the first Watchmen trailer came out with the newer, darker, version of it.
"two riders were approaching and the wind began to howl"- with Rorschach and NiteOwl approaching Ozzy. and the stuff with the Doc was kind of like a homage a bit to Apocalypse Now and how Vietnam was displayed to us.
I've listened too both versions a lot and I think I like this 1 better. I think most people like the other simply because it was on the watchmen trailer but that's just me. honestly their both good in different ways so their kinda equally good depending on your mood.
***** & Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy I thought was pretty decent other than that FUCK this movie I hope Joel Shitmaker burns in hell for this piece of shit film I don't give one fuck if he apologized.
DarkVortex42 True, very true! Although i don't blame it all of it on Kilmer, but instead the majority on director Shumacher and how he leaned the plot and theme towards. Don't get me started on the lead costume designer.
I really like the Smashing Pumpkins. Both directions of this song sound good... The End Is The Beginning Is The End, and also from the same soundtrack The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning. I am more partial to the slower version of The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning.
The only difference between the two is the speed of the song, and for Watchmen, parts of it were cut out and switched to different perspectives. If you look at both lyrics, the view points are altered and changed to past tense. Watchmen is a very dark novel, so this song fit it perfectly. All that was needed was a bit of tuning. It is very beautiful though. they couldn't have picked a better song. That makes me think how long they spent looking for the perfect one.
yeah haha i guess i'm getting a little too worked up haha but i do love siamese dream.. actually i love all there albums its silly to say ones better than another
Oh I meant Batman & Robin, don't worry. I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but I intend to, sounds like it'll be my kind of film. B&R was pretty diabolical, though.
I prefer "The End is the Beginning of the End". It's more energetic, alternative and strong! And it's been my favorite song by TSP for a handfull of years now! :D Long Live The Smashing Pumpkins!
i completely agree. this song was pretty much forgotten, ESPECIALLY the slow one, until Watchmen revived it. now everyone just thinks its the coolest new thing ever.
ACTUALLY. I'll clarify this as best I can, but I could be wrong =P There were 4 singles written for the Batman and Robin movie (back in the 80's), this one is "the END is the BEGINNING is the END". The one on Watchmen, still written for the Batman and Robin movie is "the BEGINNING is the END is the BEGINNING". Then the other two are instrumental. ;)
Actually if you look on the sound track, you should notice they are two separate songs. One is The End is the Beginning is the End which is what you are watching here, and was used in batman 3 music sound track. The other is called The Beginning is the End is the Beginning which is the one used in the Watchmen trailer which u refer too...THEY ARE TWO SEPARATE SONGS!
There is actually like 4 different versions of the songs. the other two don't have words in it but are still pretty bad ass. Watchmen version is my favorite though.
not sure if you realized this... but the version of this song in the watchmen is different. not only is the music different, but so is the title. the feel is different, changing the mood of the music and its meaning altogether. this version is more about the destruction of the city. the watchmen version is more about the rebirth. meaning in music isnt only found in the lyrics.. dig deeper.
because Virgin, SP's old label, doesn't have rights to this video. Warner Brothers does I think, it being on one of their soundtracks. That's why it's not on their GH CD either.
the songs take a bow (muse) and the beggining is the end is the beggining (smashing pumpkins) are in the trailers from the movie watchmen, not in the movie
the lyrics are different but I cant decide what one I like better the begining is the end is the begining or the end is the begining is the end what do you guys think?
I love this song so much and James looks so amazing. Can someone please tell me what went wrong with Batman and Robin? i'd really appreciate that. thnx.
Mmm, well i guess with their style of music his voice is most appropriot, and about the song titles, WHAAAA BEGINNING IS END IS BEGGINING IS END IS BEGINNING IS END IS- AHHHHHHHHH IT'S AND ENDLESS CYCLE >=O
I don't think so but I might be wrong. I'm pretty sure this song (and the slower version "the Beginning is the End is the Beginning") was written for the movie and only appeared on the soundtrack.
Yeah, the last one was waaay to drawn out. I was a little pissed they didn't go more into Rorschach's origins, or what happened to his therapist, because it just didn't have he same impact. Also, I felt they played alot of songs that were kinda inappropriate at very inappropriate times, like the scene with Dr. Manhattan fighting in Vietnam, or when the Owlship just made it onto the ice-shelf.
I like the more sinister and measured version for Watchmen. Plus Corgan looks like Nosferatu in this video. Men with features that soft shouldn't shave their heads.
I think Mellon Collie is underrated because siamese dream was always considered there ''best album'' but i dont think it was.. just that when people lookback at the best albums of the 90's siamese dream is on there but not mellon collie and it deserves to be on that list.
Yes.. Mellon Collie is a great album.. my favorite album actually. And your reasons do make sense. Billy's voice and the unique sound really made them so great. I think the Pumpkins are way underrated though.. they are MY favorite band and deserve to be called one of the greatest of all time.
I just discovered this band. I'm a fan of everything like Korn and these mystic musics... The Smashing Pumpkins are Amazing!
Man, I love this.
Smashing Pumpkins is my favorite band.
You gotta love Billy's vocals.
Nice music video too!!
This may well be the best Smashing Pumpkins song never played on the radio. With the resurgence of '90s and 2K music, maybe that'll change.
Now that they've brought out the new album, I can't get enough of the old stuff again. Top quality. I was mad about the Pumpkins as a schoolkid, I just hope their new stuff is more Melon Collie than Machina. Anyone heard Zeitgeist yet?
I loved this song. Thanks for this.
Damn... this is a spectacular version of an already awesome song. Gotta go to iTunes now.
Thanx a lot I will loock for the song in his space !!!
当時この曲を探して大変でした!ありがとう!スマパン!
beautiful melody on the chorus
good movie and song
con esta canción me hice fan de los smashing pumkins!!!
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DONT KNOW.
SMASHING PUMPKINS WROTE TWO VERSIONS OF THIS SONG.

2)the end is the beginning is the end - batman

Great song.
i loove this song
billy corgan rocks !!
he has a unique singing voice that no one can match. u can tell a pumpkins' song just by listening to the vocals..
the song for the watchmen trailer is on the rarities and b-side album. you can get this album on itunes
this song is so good, i love it..
the video is SOO weird though, not in a bad way though... just in a way that you can't look away!!
Okay, from now on when I think of the 90's, this will be the first thing to come to mind.
I think I'm a fan of both versions equally. You've got to appreciate the awesomeness (lol) of both. And yeah, Corgan creeps me the hell out too (its the Unborn boy) but you gotta admire his talent, albeit not as much as he himself does.
I cant decide wish one is better since i like them both so much.
T's sick really. Luv it.
This was in the 1997 movie, Batman & Robin. You can see Ahhnold, as Dr Freeze, in the video too.
For what's it's worth, I totally forgot about this song until the first Watchmen trailer came out with the newer, darker, version of it.
This song is great. I also liked the movie too. Gotham rocks
The only good thing that came out of this movie was this song!
***** & Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy I thought was pretty decent other than that FUCK this movie I hope Joel Shitmaker burns in hell for this piece of shit film I don't give one fuck if he apologized.
+Juan Simón Primera Right
+Juan Simón Primera Could be worst. Val Kilmer could be Batman in this movie.
DarkVortex42 True, very true! Although i don't blame it all of it on Kilmer, but instead the majority on director Shumacher and how he leaned the plot and theme towards. Don't get me started on the lead costume designer.
This song scares the hell out of me but, its so awesome it keeps me from changing the song. =]
the song in the trailer is The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning
this song is The End is the Beginning is the End
I really like the Smashing Pumpkins. Both directions of this song sound good... The End Is The Beginning Is The End, and also from the same soundtrack The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning. I am more partial to the slower version of The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning.
i love his guitar =D
amo!!!!
esta canción es un orgasmo total
Seriously. I agree completely.
YES!!
the reason why I watched Batman and Robin...Uma Thurman and this song...
Percilli Tagalog Other than that the movie is a waste.
Slade Wilson absolutely right bro...
The song is phenomenal and the movie in the background actually looks good compared to what it turned out to be :P
this song is so cool
Watched the movie twice...just to hear this song in the end credit all over again.
good song
The only difference between the two is the speed of the song, and for Watchmen, parts of it were cut out and switched to different perspectives.

yeah haha i guess i'm getting a little too worked up haha but i do love siamese dream.. actually i love all there albums its silly to say ones better than another
Me too! But I like the beginning is the end is the beginning more ^^
Everybody needs to 'chill' out and 'cool' down.
What a fuckin' movie.
Oh I meant Batman & Robin, don't worry. I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but I intend to, sounds like it'll be my kind of film.
B&R was pretty diabolical, though.
Batman Begins saved it and you know it, but still great song; it introduced me to the Pumpkins in mp pop dayz
I prefer "The End is the Beginning of the End". It's more energetic, alternative and strong! And it's been my favorite song by TSP for a handfull of years now! :D Long Live The Smashing Pumpkins!
Yeah this version is awesome to ^_^
This is awesome.. i like it better than the watchmen one.
but their still both SO good...
nice guitars!!! SP rules!!!
I saw this in theaters many years ago... the song was cool..
definately
My thoughts exactly. :)
i completely agree. this song was pretty much forgotten, ESPECIALLY the slow one, until Watchmen revived it. now everyone just thinks its the coolest new thing ever.
Billy Corgan is an amazing vocalist.
the best thing about Batman and Robin.
i like this......
ACTUALLY.
I'll clarify this as best I can, but I could be wrong =P

cool stuff it took me for ever to find this web site.
There is actually like 4 different versions of the songs. the other two don't have words in it but are still pretty bad ass. Watchmen version is my favorite though.
i love d'arcy!
not sure if you realized this... but the version of this song in the watchmen is different. not only is the music different, but so is the title. the feel is different, changing the mood of the music and its meaning altogether. this version is more about the destruction of the city. the watchmen version is more about the rebirth.
meaning in music isnt only found in the lyrics.. dig deeper.
Yeah.. Great song. D'arcy is one of the artists that made me wanna play bass in the first place.
Movie sux though.
Exactly. Yes, it was in Batman and Robin. And yes, it is in Watchmen.
because Virgin, SP's old label, doesn't have rights to this video. Warner Brothers does I think, it being on one of their soundtracks. That's why it's not on their GH CD either.
d'arcy, I miss you!
the songs take a bow (muse) and the beggining is the end is the beggining (smashing pumpkins) are in the trailers from the movie watchmen, not in the movie
Agreed. Seconded. Motion Passed.
You know, I just had the same though, only the other version isn't exactly a remix. They were both released at the same time by the same band.
D'Arcy is a damn fine woman, i have allways loved her!
Billy Corgan definitely doesnt creep me out :) besides being talented hes hot, at least in my eyes hes gorgeous lol
Same here. I agree with Syler, but I like the way that BEB is good more.
Rotten Apples was the bside collection of the Greatest Hits, but this track was released on Warner Records, so it wasn't allowed on the GH.
finally someone other than me knows that! :)
you have to get the rarities & bsides to get the awesome watchmen version
Couldn't of said it better.
true i liked the song after seeing the commercial, but i would have still liked it if i found it another way.
Cool the Watchmen is bring back the Smashing Pumkins back into the world again. Now the newer gerneration can enjoy them.
the lyrics are different but I cant decide what one I like better
the begining is the end is the begining
or
the end is the begining is the end
what do you guys think?
'Watchmen' resurructed this song for me.
I love this song so much and James looks so amazing. Can someone please tell me what went wrong with Batman and Robin? i'd really appreciate that. thnx.
Like this song...wish it didn't have connections to either movie though
this is real music!
Both versions were released in the same year, and both are enjoyable IMHO.
I have to agree, there's some strange sensualness about him. Not creepy at all.
Im glad this song was redone for WATCHMEN
omg... greatest fukin song ever!!!
4:07 Oh. My. God. Billy Corgan is Dr. Manhattan :)
ha, so did I
Yeah, the last one was waaay to drawn out.
I like it, but I like the other version simply cause it seems to mesh so well with Watchmen.
No sabía que era de Batman, la oí por primera vez en el trailer de watchmen, pero suena bien. y sì, dark nigth es la mejor
I like the more sinister and measured version for Watchmen. Plus Corgan looks like Nosferatu in this video. Men with features that soft shouldn't shave their heads.
Mr. Freeze is a cool character and if done right could be quite terrifying (for a comic book villain)
Its a shame that this movie did it so wrong.
the song isnt in the movie Watchmen because it is set in '85 and they only used songs from the time.
Different beats, different titles, and different lyrics (with the exception of the chorus, and both have similar ideas).
I think Mellon Collie is underrated because siamese dream was always considered there ''best album'' but i dont think it was.. just that when people lookback at the best albums of the 90's siamese dream is on there but not mellon collie and it deserves to be on that list.
