    Visited Warby Parker yesterday and saw a slew of frames that I love! My friends have nothing but great things to say about WB. Had to find out the story behind the brand. Very interesting.

    After watching the 60 Minutes interview with Luxottica, I'm even more sold on my Warby Parker's. I love them and I'm telling everyone I know to go there, too.

    Heard about Warby Parker from my friend who got her glasses from them. I love my new pair and would come back to get a second pair in the future.🤓

    I got contact lenses in 8th grade and never had glasses until my senior year of college. My first pair of glasses was $95 from Warby Parker and they were great for over a year until they fell out of my pocket when I was crossing the street and a car ran over them 😢
    I think it says a lot that the only thing that could break them was getting hit by a car! I ordered a new pair as soon as I got home and it was quick and easy. I’ll be sticking with this brand for a while.

    It was the buy one, another pair gets donated to someone in need, that sold me. I visited the one in Soho, around the corner from Apple Store. Great experience.

    My only issue with their glasses are they don’t seem to have spring hinges but otherwise they are great

    • @curlyhairdudeify
      @curlyhairdudeify Год назад

      Spring hinges are cheap. They are made to fit small, medium, and charge without actually creating multiple sizes on the same model.
      Warby Parker offers Smal, Medium, Large, and Extra Large.
      Also, spring hinges tend to slide down over time due to the spring losing its strength.

    Warby Parker's mission:
    Every idea starts with a problem. Ours was simple: Glasses are too expensive.
    Our founders were students when one of them lost his glasses on a backpacking trip. The cost of replacing them was so high that he spent the first semester of grad school without them, squinting and complaining. (We don't recommend this.)
    The others had similar experiences and were amazed at how hard it was to find a pair of great frames that didn't leave their wallets bare. Where were the options?
    It turns out there's a simple explanation. The eyewear industry is dominated by a single company that has been able to keep prices artificially high while reaping huge profits from consumers who have no other options.
    . So charging $500.00 for one pair prescription glasses help the cause, really??

    Actually, the frames are now about the same price as the ones sold at Lens Crafters. The lenses are not as high of quality and it’s noticeable in strong prescription. Warby Parker might save you a little money, but you get what you pay for. Warby Parker is similar quality as Costco with better selection of frames. They are now marking up similar to everyone else now that they have significant market share.

    • @curlyhairdudeify
      @curlyhairdudeify Год назад

      That's false. For higher Rxs you have to choose 1.67 or 1.74 index lenses.
      With Lens Crafter's you are paying triple or cuadruple the price for the same lenses.

    Well, without glasses you can’t see the magical things iPhone can do... I know what this company is doing is great, but eyeglasses are more than just a fashion statement. Also, I agree that there are high markup on eye glasses, but that doesn’t mean their glasses are the same quality as high end $700 glasses~!

      @@curlyhairdudeify In fact they are so cheaply made with the basic of plastic materials that they donate a pair for every pair you buy and still make a neat profit from gullible people like yourself.

    This is "NOT NEW'. I bought my first pair of affordable prescription eye glasses from "For Eyes" in 1979. OK they didn't donate but they were affordable.

    This is just a happy go lucky piece. There are myriads of problems with Warby Parker and many people are not happy with the quality of their eyewear. It is a completely false to say that 1 company, Luxxotica, controls the entire industry. WP has built their brand and rep on that and many people have fallen for it. And free PR like this just creates more victims for WP model.

      +Klababy19 my bad. you right. But also, I'm still a fan of Warby Parker. But altruism at its finest? I don't think so. This company is backed by very strong connections to Donald Trump. One of Warby's biggest VC's is Josh Kushner whose brother Jared is son in law to Donald Trump. Ever wonder why Karlie Kloss is used for Warby Parker ads? because she is dating Josh Kushner. The Puck building where Warby Parker is based is owned by Ivanka & Jared Kushner. And all these glasses are made in China. Im not harping about that, but please dont call it a perfect company. The piece doesn't mention any of the dark aspects of this company, like the Trump/Kushner connection.

      +bbkr26 That's great information to know. And thanks for letting us all know. But honestly (from my perspective and income) it beats the hell out of paying $500 for prescription glasses. That's insane to have to pay that much for glasses, which one needs.

      This guy gets it, trying to spin the heartfelt narrative for a for profit company only takes you so far. Its proven the buy one give one model or its alternatives arent highly effective, nonetheless its good to have options in any market but it shouldn't be put out to be some saintly act but this is business and these are good businessmen!
