    I like having a more human Boyka. A juggernaut of a fighter but also a man seeking penance. I just like the idea that there is another layer to him.

    • @SeanChandlerTalksAbout
      @SeanChandlerTalksAbout  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah I think all of that works well for the movie. It's also very interesting to have a series take the vilain from one part and give him a long redemptive arc in the following films.

      @FlashmanJW 7 лет назад

      Sean Chandler Talks About yeah, but when it is clear your protagonist (Chambers) will continue to be an arrogant prick, it makes sense to follow the story of someone else. I wouldn't mind seeing that with some of the classics like Karate Kid, like what was Johnny doing.

      thats weird coz i just witnessed a superhuman boyka fighting 2 guys back 2 back then going full Taken for a russian girl whose husband he killed, i wish i hadnt watched this movie, nothing like the other 2

    • @stktenioudakis
      @stktenioudakis 6 лет назад

      he got damaged to his back then recovered 5 secodns later instead of 1 fight later, then he gets his back destroyed and recovered and then fucked the final boss while already fucked up bleeding and his back probably shattered to pieces this movie needed at least 20 more minutes they rushed it for no reason

    • @stktenioudakis
      @stktenioudakis 6 лет назад

      and i m not pretending the other movies had completely 'normal' fights where nothing 'too much' happened, but this takes it to another level, i couldnt enjoy the movie because all i could do was cringe...

    I preferred Undisputed 3 a lot more. In both plot and fights. It had what you mentioned. Martial art variety

    • @SeanChandlerTalksAbout
      @SeanChandlerTalksAbout  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah. If I were to rank the films with Boyka, I think this one would be third. I'd probably go 2, 3 and then Boyka. I put two on top for having Michael Jai White and Adkins.

    Finally got around to watching this movie today and to be perfectly honest, I really didn't like it.
    I understand that they were trying to give Boyka some character development by making him feel bad for killing someone in the ring. The problem is that 1. by doing this they sort of did a complete 180 on the direction of the plot. And 2. it negates any kind of character development by having him end right back up in prison at the end of the film.
    Lets't talk about the plot though: At the beginning of the movie, I was assuming Boyka was gonna fight this scrub, impress the hell out of these people. Go to this tournament, fight a bunch of (evenly matched) opponents, and eventually fight this Koshmar the Nightmare (played by Martyn Ford and is actually the main reason I watched this). He beats Koshmar and gets his golden ticket to becoming a professional fighter in the UFC or something like it. Instead, you get Boyka stuck in a village in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere, Russia that apparently has a rich mobster who runs an underground fighting ring in the middle of his casino which looks very out of place in itself amongst this otherwise poor village.
    You get to see this mobster's champion (Igor) fighting in the ring against this guy who is clearly outmatched and this is apparently the best fighter this village has to offer (makes sense given that it is in the middle of nowhere). You even see the look on Boyka's face as if he thinks Igor is a pretty shit fighter...yet by the end of the movie Igor is able to go toe-to-toe with Boyka (granted Boyka was not 100% but still...come on).
    And of course after Boyka beats Igor, you know the mobster is gonna be a scumbag and find a loophole and he brings in Koshmar the Nightmare as his "new champion:" despite the fact that he arrived not even 5 minutes earlier. A completely worn out Boyka then decides to fight this dude right away and if it weren't for plot armor, he should have been killed. They go from making Koshmar look like he is unfazed by any of Boyka's attacks to all of a sudden Boyka could flick him and he is stunned for 5 seconds (also the fact that Koshmar had literally no lines apart from yelling like a mad man was kind of stupid. He isn't a monster, he is just a really big guy who is good at fighting).
    They finish the movie with Boyka going back to prison and Alma tells him she forgives him in a rather unconvincing manor.
    The final scene shows Boyka in a prison ring once again and he is raising up his arms roaring in approval as the crowd cheers his name...looking like he is having the time of his life. The problem is that they made sure to mention that he hated being in prison at the beginning of the movie. He calls prison a "shit hole worse than hell" or something like that in the opening narration. Which is why I thought that this movie was going in the right direction by finally giving him a shot at becoming a professional fighter (which would have been some actually good character development). Instead, he is back in that shit hole worse than hell and it looks like he couldn't care less either.
    I understand this is a really long comment and I'll be surprised if anybody decides to read the whole thing. I get that you don't watch Undisputed movies for a plot, you watch them for some awesome fighting scenes. But even the fighting scenes seemed underwhelming and (contrary to what others might say) you DO need to have at least some sort of plot in order to have emotion during their fights. We all hated Dolor in U3 because he was a cocky douchebag who was constantly belittling Boyka and anyone else he fought (also you were given the impression that he was a legit threat...unlike Igor). We all obviously fell in love with Boyka in U2 because he was relentless, mean, yet had a passion for fighting. He was an awesome villain that you loved to hate but still respected. Personally, I didn't hate Igor, I just thought he was annoying. And there is no reason to hate Koshmar either because he literally had no real lines.
    All in all, this movie was pretty bad. I hate saying that because I wanted to like it, but it was pretty bad.

      I agree completely, and i didnt watch 2 and 3 just for the fighting, i enjoyed the plot a lot actually in both movies, also i saw that the movie was like 14 minutes from the end and boyka still hadnt fought the big guy, and i m like will he really beat him in their first fight? turns out no actually he will beat him in their first fight right after beating the 'fake' champion who elbowed him to his hurt back 25 times in a row... when he fought the 2 brothers he got hit in the back and then 15 seconds later he was good as new, same as with the final fight, all in all it almost looked like they forced the movie to end 20 - 30 minutes faster than it should, with the final 15 minutes of it: boyka beat the first champion, realised he got screwed over, got convinced to fight the second champion, beat the second champion, fought the guards, got shot 2 times, had a (Taken) standoff with the mobster, got shot again, killed the mobster, got caught by the police, went to prison, 6 months later he talked to the grill, and then he walked to the fighting stage roaring, especially that ending where he roars is like fan service gone wrong, or maybe this entire movie was fan service gone wrong

      Dude great comment, nailed it! 👏👏👏... I really felt cheated by the plot. Hopefully if we get a fifth film we'll get to see the story we were meant to see in the fourth film.

      I have super high standards in movies. I need the acting to be believable and convincing. My standards are so high that even the slightest acting goof might ruin a whole movie despite the rest of it being perfect. But for this movie, i decided to lower my standards and accept the simplicity of the plot. I actually ended up enjoying it. I learned that, sometimes, it doesn't have to be perfect or complex in order to be good. Instead, i just, as they say, enjoy the simpler things in life.

      red saintgaming Please don’t EVER compare Bruce Lee to Scott Adkins again. Scott Adkins moves look cool but they would be decent in an actual fight it’s all for show he’s weak. Bruce Lee however was an amazing fighter both on and off screen.

      @niharmarar9504 5 лет назад +2

      @@canturk_e9651 Scott is NOT weak. He's so much stronger and muscular. Sure Bruce may be faster but if he fought Scott, Scott would win cuz hes stronger, and kicks higher. But that's my opinion. Just don't call Scott weak. He's super good. And if he got in a fight, he would fucking win. Why don't you fight him huh? Yea stfu. They're both good and its definitely ok to compare them. And who really cares if they write a book or not. Like what?

      @AdmiralBison 4 года назад

      Kind of bitter sweet ending really, I like it because it kind of stays away from that happy ending trope, but of course like you sad it is a sad ending.
      Maybe its in the execution because the Hutchinson character from the Undisputed 1 was pretty much left in prison for life but he fought to give his sister and their kids a chance to a better life and was content being the undefeated champion in prison.

    I believe this one is the weakest out of the whole series. 2 and 3 being the best. The plot was stretched and it didn't flow as well as the others did. The characters beside Boyka were meh and didn't care for them at all. At least in 2 and 3, there was some character development and motivation to drive each character. This one felt forced and out of place. Quite a shame.

      Yeah I've literally been waiting for it to be released for about a year. They filmed it a long time ago. Then it was just kind of meh movie. It delivered enough martial arts not to be boring but nothing particularly interesting either.

    Scott adkins shouls get some much better roles these days since he is a very talented and highly likable character but sadly, he is stuck with the ''Boyka'' name forever since most people just call him that.....i do love the series, the 2nd one is probably the best so far but it has to do with Michaled white, who is on his own a fantastic actor was part of it......anw, already decided to get this movie this weekend and watch it....

    • @SeanChandlerTalksAbout
      @SeanChandlerTalksAbout  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah I'm confused by why he hasn't tried to get more mid-size roles in bigger films like he did with Dr. Strange. Maybe he has done that, but it just seems he spends so much time on starring roles in straight to blu-ray stuff that he's just locking himself into that world.

    I make sure to check this one out as I often like, straight to video martial arts movie. I thought Scott Adkins killed it in Universal Soldier... Reckoning... i think. Movie wasnt that great but he had some awesome action scenes. If his acting chops were a little better I'd be interested to see him as James Bond some day.

      +The SilverScreen Analysis I feel he was born in the wrong era. He has the physicality to be martial arts star but he hit his prime when that genre took a dip in quality and was pushed straight to video.
      His physicality never got partnered with a great director and a decent budget

    • @MoviesNeverSayDie
      @MoviesNeverSayDie 7 лет назад +1

      So well said and so true! He has some potential in my mind, but who knows what will turn out of his career. I think he's much closer to Jason Statham that people realize and hope he gets the shot someday! I think he'd be a great Batman, the question would be how good of a Bruce Wayne could he be.

    I was kind of hoping the woman, Boyka was fighting for her freedom, would somehow come around and call for Boyka not to risk his life fighting that last monster guy.
    It would kind of validate the forgiveness he seeks, but also raise the stakes now because it looks like he end up in the same situation of the first fighter who ended up dying and the woman would have lost to significant men in her life and still end up being owned by that mob leader.

    The Undisputed series is very good with a good amount of character depth, story and of course fighting.
    The Hutchins and Boyka characters are interesting, however I am hoping The Undisputed series explores other fighters and circumstances so as to not get stale when focusing on one character for too long.
    I would like to see fights take place in different places around the world - underground, military locations, forests & jungles ( example the main protagonist is kidnapped by some unknown vicious cannibal tribesman or militia and has to fight the chieftan to gain their freedom. :P)
    Different styles - like some guy who only knows wrestling so has to become a wonder and shows all kinds of wrestling techniques from the popular to the obscure.
    Would like to see a female fighting protagonist who is a an agent sent to infiltrate a conspiracy or something....basically a good back story.
    All in all I enjoyed Undisputed 4: Boyka.

      That was the first person he accidentally killed in a fight...that we know off and I see the writers are trying to flesh out his character a bit more compared to Undisputed 2 where he is clearly the boss bad guy who wants to be the most "balanced" fighter in the world.
