This video makes it appear like it's a happy day for Bristol Zoo, but in reality it's the saddest.

I worked as a Secretary at the Zoo for 13 yrs. I saw a young White tiger cub on a lead on lawns led by keeper Mike Weston and as a 2 year old greeting Mike inside his enclosure standing tall with paws on his shoulders - wonderful

The dark truth is when they ended the lives of the animals 😭

So sad. It's all about the money.

      Erm ..no?
It's about the space and the animals - the site has closed but the zoo will continue once the exhibitions & habitats at the new site have been built.
You can still visit the Wild Place, Bristol Zoo's sister site and where the new Zoo will be built in the coming years

@@olo101olo if you read their reasons for closing, it is about the financial challenges Bristol Zoo have been facing since COVID and subsequent lockdowns. So it is about financial issues faced, not animal space. The animal spaces at Bristol Zoo were well suited for its population of smaller species.

@@koalamullet Okay, but talking to staff during recent visits the new Zoo site will allow them to focus on conservation of species the current site would not allow them to do so while money is, unfortunately an aspect in almost everything in our lives, one of the underlying aims is better fulfilled at a larger site where the animals are the focus and have more appropriate space - such at the Bear & Wolf woods at the Wild Place
