the moment scopely bought msf, people warned everyone that the company doesn't care about the players and they were 100% correct. this game is getting more predatory weekly with impossible to finish events unless you spend and teams you're forced to build unless you want to be left behind. cerebro and AA are some of the worst community managers i've ever seen for a game with how little they communicate or bother to address things.
at least cerebro isn’t the community manager for lego star wars skywalker saga, bc that one quit after 3 months

Tadano Mac quitting is probably the biggest blow MSF has ever faced. It would be a massive red flag to investors if they heard that the top spender in the game just quit because he had no confidence in the management.
I'm a little sad for Tadano Mac because I think he's a good guy. I appreciate that he really did love the community and tried his best to look out for us. I wish him all the best.

I see that I was right in feeling apathetic towards this game. I appreciate the community for forming the MSF Players Voice Movement, but I'm just tired of fighting Scopely all the damn time, I don't want to fight anymore. Also, thanks to Tadano Mac for all you do.
This game is such a fascinating study of human psychology and behavior. If no one would spend the money to compete at those “top of the leaderboards” levels the devs would have no choice but to rethink their strategy. Since this games is only numbers to them, there you go, money talks. So if money talks the only way to have change happen is to speak with your wallet.
I know this topic has been talked about ad nauseam, but because they want to compete or stay on top they still spend the money. I know it’s a hobby for some or not even a factor to others - the spending that is - but truly it is fascinating how many will still pay knowing the strategy of this game is predatory and exploring those human behaviors.
At this point idk how many still play because they’ve already invested so much into it, whether that’s money or time. But it would be interesting if by some miracle people just stopped paying the price to play. Just to truly see what happens. But what do I know, I am just a keyboard warrior.
Nah you're absolutely right and I also find it fascinating to study the behaviour. It's basically a great example of how capitalism can be twisted using clever psychology and manipulation with a dash of 'faith' based flawed logic.
The last thing I’ll add is that a company that sells off so often and so quickly is also a cause for concern. It was in our face the whole time. This game is being run like a start up of sorts where those invested want to make their money and leave. Truly one of the horrific sides of corporations.
Disregarding the consumer and only looking out for the bottom line. When in actuality if you foster a good player base it pays out for longer term. But that’s just it. This is a quick dollar to those who get paid out, full stop. There is no interest - at least from those in charge of final decisions - to maintain and grow a game/player base. They just want their money.
One can only hope it gets bought by someone who actually cares for what’s there [the game and the community] if not. This is just an endless cycle till the game dies out right.
It's simple. This happens in every mobile game. The people that are on top, want to stay on top. In order to stay on top, they will spend. The moment their money doesn't achieve this in a satisfactory way, they will voice their concerns.
These concerns translate into, ftp are getting closer to our entitlement. We pay, they don't, yet now I'm having to deal with these riff raffs
These companies ensure that in time, the gulf will become greater again and ease their concerns. This works and that promise gets fulfilled

I quit MSF just after the War event. I looked at the placement that I made it in and compared it to MLF event after spending a LOT and had thought that I would be fine in the Red Hulk event. That event happened and I barely made it to just get into the top 10k free after blowing all of my mats to get the teams needed then they announced the minion teams and I just threw up my hands and had to be done.

I was in the top 5 to 10 to unlock a big boy apoc, since the flop I have barely spent a dime on the game, I can confirm for as much I was spending a week/month and for a business to loose a customer that was spending and not reach out, scoopely does not care about the player at all. Now that the company has been sold to Saudi Arabi I will most likely leave the game too.
I've just noticed mods on reddit are deleting/removing posts relating to Tadano quitting? Why are they doing that? It's like they are trying to keep a lid on this to avoid other players from doing the same.

A couple of the mods are scopley employees. They input stipulations that remove posts regarding (any) players quitting.
Well, if they want to calm us then there are many things to do, way too many. Gold is just the surface, I would say even the missing challenges are obvious. But also they release new campaigns with way higher energy requirement. What should we do with it? At the end of this year we will be able to claim 2 nodes with the energy we get in a day, this is ridiculous...

I appreciate Zubin speaking out on behalf of mac to shed light on the situation. I used to be a dolphin - Ranked in top 1000 in Collection Power, top 5000 for dd3 and top 2000 for dd4 - Currently in a top 25 alliance - Scopely drove me to quit spending. I hated myself for spending every-time i did i just couldn't bring myself to let such a huge money investment to just sit and rot. Felt like wasted money and effort and most importantly time. I also felt guilty that i deserved the way Scopely treated me and lets be honest, they have almost always treated us whales, dolphins, occasional spenders or F2P players, like crap. They pretend to care for a little while then go right back to not giving 2 shits. I haven't spent since Dec 2022. Prior to that i only spent because i felt guilty on behalf of my alliance mates who have been friends/family for 2+ years. I'm happy they facilitated me not feeling obligated or not wanting or being able to spend.
I am glad you stopped wasting money on a mobile phone game.

My playing became funner and no more stress to try to stay up with big spenders. I don't need to have all the new or vest toons available asap. Eventually every one of them become available for free. I build what I want. I have favorite toons and teams. I still enjoy the game. 👍🙂
@@aldopine I'll be honest, i spent day 1 to get a team up and running, spent very lightly in the first year. My account is now 2.5 yo. And has been f2p since surfer came out so... 3rd annie. I dont feel half the stress, the burnout, the fomos... anything other players feel. I have fun with the game, i embrace the challenge of taking larger players in arena and CC.
It's hard for me to explain, but once you get to a certain mindset with this game, it get's really fun, specially if you enjoy puzzling with resource management.

In the top 50 you are expected to spend for events and the usual characters etc
Every alliance past the top 50, will have 5-8 mega Krakens, and mega whales, that just get everything immediately. So you see, Mac is just the tip and they are never about the community but how they see themselves in the game
None of these top 10 to 50 alliances want to see ftp come out on top. They want to stomp on them and when that's under threat, you get them influencing the developers and the ftp. The ftp think they are arguing for the same thing and have no idea what they are advocating for

I recently stopped spending and will never spend another penny because of the blue ISO manufactured scarcity and the forced pay play with Kahn and his event. Its been never ending pay to play. After I stopped spending I enjoy the game more feel less stress and competitive over reach.

EVERY mobile game I’ve ever played is the same. They don’t care about anything other than money. Can you imagine excess sitting in a board room discussing what they can do to make sure players are having fun, no matter what it does to the bottom line? They wouldn’t have a job very long. I don’t even think Elon Musk would run a game like that. We tend to personify companies that are not human with feelings. The exist to suck money out of us….using predatory tactics.

Also some kind of dopamine or serotonin release from finally unlocking a new character or star level. It's a catch-22 because you need spenders to fuel the game economy, but when you get all these people with too much disposable income and no restraint to ever say "enough is enough" it screws over everyone else because the game just keeps squeezing and squeezing its players.

The best decision I ever made was to play this F2P from day 1. I already had the experience from the DC game so that helped me, plus the decision making and resource management aspect of the game are very fun for me. Not gonna lie, feels very good to be number 1 in arena as f2p.
I'm always thankful for the krakens and whale that pay for all the FTP. People still don't understand how mobile games work
