Especially with the exceptional over reach of this case, it's very likely that the CCFR will win a precedent setting case that will in effect add gun rights to our constitution. Had the Liberals been smart, they would have hit just the 'M-16' derivatives and the hand guns, but they ain't, so they added true hunting guns, 22s, 12 gauges, made exceptions for people based on race (many natives aren't hunters, many traditional hunters aren't natives, reservations have the highest per capita gun crime in Canada, so there's no logic to the exception) to the list. As to that the fact that at least 2 provinces (likely Ontario as well) are looking to get intervener status in a constitutional challenge (would be better if we could get half the provinces, I don't expect Manitoba has it in them, but maybe Newfoundland, NS, and Yukon). Theres no support in this. They are more more concerned about if they will get 2 grand a month, which translates to 12.50 an hour. And weather or not Camping sites are open because of covid 19. A non-gun license holding Canadian here. I support my fellow citizens with gun licenses every chance I get on these issues. Keep the word spreading, the updates coming, and petitioning happening. Call, email, and call again, not just your MPs, but the local candidates and leaders of ALL the other parties in your riding. This is a rights issue, an case over restricting to dismissed returns, and all of it at this point does not address the real concerns and has been framed and worded by the Federal Government to propagate a specific message to get specifics reactions and results from a majority of Canadians. I may be wrong, but I believe that grandfathering is in the Firearms Act. The RCMP hiding it on their website doesn't change that. They must offer grandfathering or change the firearms act in parliament.

I recently stopped working for a Canadian branded company that also sold firearms. The restrictions on what we were and weren't allowed to sell sound eerily similar to the new prohib rules. We weren't allowed anything "tacticool", and anything with a picatinny rail was pushing the limit. They took away the SKS roughly 2 years ago, then stopped carrying Mauser K98k, and then anything deemed "military looking/related". We also weren't allowed to bring in any stock kits that made anything look "tacticool", the few we had ended up getting sent back around the same time as the SKS. But at the same time they allowed us to carry special edition M14s and Ruger 10/22 with the AR stocks. None of it made any sense. The explanation I got was that a guy in charge in Ontario that likely never visited a range, or fired a gun, and was banning anything that looked "scary" to regular people. These bans are clearly to protect people who are already ignorant of what they're looking at. The banning of anything resembling an AR seems likely sooner rather than later. I would say at least hunting rifles are safe, but that doesn't seem to even be the case anymore. What a weird time we live in.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the recent Derya Mk12 ban, but in recent months, in Edmonton/Leduc Area on the QE2, an RCMP officer was seriously injured in an exchange with an suspect driving a black bmw. They were chasing through a few counties. Once the RCMP stopped the vehicle the suspect exchanged fire with the RCMP using a Derya MK12. I just noticed, shortly afterwards it hit the list..

In regards to the lawsuit filed by the CCFR, how about lawsuits based on the fact that the definitions were PURPOSEFULLY worded to be vague AND the word "variant" isn't even being recognized based on its actual definition..?? How can the Liberals and RCMP claim that a certain firearms is a "variant" if it is NOT a variant and not even remotely possible to be one..?? I mean that doesn't cover ALL the guns that have been banned, but if gun owners can fight for each and every gun based on the DELIBERATE misinterpretation of the definitions of words, that can restore them to legal status, no..??
How about the Prime Minister and Minster of Public Safety lying about how AR-15's and other firearms have "no use for sporting purposes" and which the only purpose is to "kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time possible."..? Can a lawsuit be filed under those pretenses..? AR-15's and other rifles have ONLY been used for sporting purposes and range use for DECADES so how can they say the firearms have "no sporting purpose"..? And that's not just in Canada as well.
Another big point: If AR-15's and other rifles ONLY have the purpose to "Kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time possible", then why do the police and government have them..? And why should Canadians trust them..? Their logic goes against themselves, no..? The police use their rifles for DEFENSE first and foremost, not to "kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time possible."
What about the prohibition of guns without notifying gun owners..? Isn't there a legal obligation to do that..?
Then, of course, there's the entire process of prohibition without Parliament in session, no readings, debates, voting etc..

Then there's the incrementalism which we have seen for DECADES now. Laws passed one at a time when they keep saying "We don't want to ban guns..!!" They have shown their objectives already numerous times.
I open my farm up to anyone that wants to protest this law and I will be taking my tractor to parliament when the time comes. I'm not far from Ottawa, lots of room for campers or tents. Taking guns out of legal gun owners, to me means my family farm will be lost. I love and have had a good relationship with the people that have helped me over the years. Every gun owner is important in this country, even though the government and big city people don't appreciate you. I do thank you for all you have done in the past. Without you there would not be a farmer and no food.

No we don't. At some stage we got to fight. Stage one hide the guns. Stage two gun owners organize cops come for the guns they get ambushed and disarmed. If it turns into fighting we take the cops down after that the government can only turn to the military and if the military can't get it done government finished their laws finished. A non-gun license holding Canadian here. I support my fellow citizens with gun licenses every chance I get on these issues. Keep the word spreading, the updates coming, and petitioning happening.
Call, email, and call again, not just your MPs, but the local candidates and leaders of ALL the other parties in your riding.
This is a rights issue, an case over restricting to dismissed returns, and all of it at this point does not address the real concerns and has been framed and worded by the Federal Government to propagate a specific message to get specifics reactions and results from a majority of Canadians.

I going to open a can of worms with this one. Trudeau does not care up gun control, abortion, women’s rights, coronavirus, personal freedoms, and climate change. It’s all about dividing the voters and power. 60% want more gun control, 30% want less gun control, 10% don’t care. Abortion 50% approve, 25% disapprove, 25% don’t care. Climate Change plays better to Quebec, Ontario, and Vancouver. Areas with a lot of electoral seats. Vancouver is the biggest coal exporting port in all of North America, Vancouver protests oil which give off 1/2 as much carbon dioxide as Vancouver’s Coal, which Vancouver turns a blind eye to. Quebec secondary education is 1/2 or less than what it costs an Albertan to educate their child, payed for by Alberta, which Quebec protests against the province that pays for their children’s education. If it served Trudeau with voters, he would be less gun restrictions, anti abortion, anti climate change. Trudeau looks after Trudeau, he really doesn’t care about anything, its a numbers game. What hurts Canada, what hurts gun owners, what hurts workers, all that matters is votes. Check the history of divided countries, it is a tool used to win elections. I may be wrong, but I believe that grandfathering is in the Firearms Act. The RCMP hiding it on their website doesn't change that. They must offer grandfathering or change the firearms act in parliament.

This has truly left a foul taste of disgust in my mouth that's nearly impossible to get rid of, my whole life I wanted to be part of our legal firearm community in relation to all things sports shooting / law enforcement / hunting, I worked hard my whole life and when I finally had time I got my license, when I was able to afford it i got involved in shooting, it's the only relief of stress I get and my only fun pass time hobbie... makes me feel better in every way imaginable.. everything the government does is to suppress and depress us.. lock us inside and ban all firearms, wonder what they have planned next...

I recently stopped working for a Canadian branded company that also sold firearms. The restrictions on what we were and weren't allowed to sell sound eerily similar to the new prohib rules. We weren't allowed anything "tacticool", and anything with a picatinny rail was pushing the limit. They took away the SKS roughly 2 years ago, then stopped carrying Mauser K98k, and then anything deemed "military looking/related". We also weren't allowed to bring in any stock kits that made anything look "tacticool", the few we had ended up getting sent back around the same time as the SKS. But at the same time they allowed us to carry special edition M14s and Ruger 10/22 with the AR stocks. None of it made any sense.
The explanation I got was that a guy in charge in Ontario that likely never visited a range, or fired a gun, and was banning anything that looked "scary" to regular people. These bans are clearly to protect people who are already ignorant of what they're looking at. The banning of anything resembling an AR seems likely sooner rather than later. I would say at least hunting rifles are safe, but that doesn't seem to even be the case anymore. What a weird time we live in.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the recent Derya Mk12 ban, but in recent months, in Edmonton/Leduc Area on the QE2, an RCMP officer was seriously injured in an exchange with an suspect driving a black bmw. They were chasing through a few counties. Once the RCMP stopped the vehicle the suspect exchanged fire with the RCMP using a Derya MK12. I just noticed, shortly afterwards it hit the list..
