This is awesome Kenny and more natrual sounding de-clicking. I've been doing tedious manual declicking in other software by redrawing the wave, but this is tha bollocks!! Brilliant!! Thanks. Reaper has literally saved my back-catalogue of songs!!
Great video. To be honest, I couldn't hear any clicks in the first or third example, but it's clear that it would work well in cases where they're more audible. Thanks for sharing!
Please tell me how to find these clicks among the general “cardiogram”? Some clicks go along with the words. Do you need to slow down the track and find it that way or are there more advanced ways?
@@REAPERManiaPlease tell me how to find these clicks among the general “cardiogram”? Some clicks go along with the words. Do you need to slow down the track and find it that way or are there more advanced ways?
On the first example the click stills there. I think reaper should be able to re-write waveform, as in Pro Tools or other daws. Destructive editing should be an option in Reaper On/Off.. Great tuts you´ve been doing by the way. ;)
Man!!! you just made my day!! thank you so much, work very well. HOW TO : clic on Track/Envelopes automation button, then check the Volume (Pre-FX) box, automation for this setting will appear. Now, find your clic/noise and automate the gain to drop and come back rapidly just after the clic.Voilà!
How can I get rid of pop and crackling sounds? Even I tried to put 256 my buffer size I still get crackling sounds on vocals when recording. Can you help me bro?
I'm a narrator and use RX to smooth out my tracks, but sometimes it can be a bit too harsh and add what sounds like artifacts. RX is a great tool, don't get me wrong, but sometimes you need to get in there and do some grunt work. There's no plugin that can replace careful articulation and hand editing.
My issue is that there are very loud clicks making it clip 15-17dB, but no spike in the visual representation, so I'm kind of having to guess where it's occuring. Very annoying.
Thanks, I was doing a whole bunch of other stuff, like cutting the click and stretching the item next to it over the gap. I also tried muting the click and that sounded absolutely horrible. I think I need more ram or my hard drive is dying or my interface is crap. I get these clicks after I've recorded for a bit or use effects while tracking. I cleaned my cpu fan and computer today, I still got a click but not as early into recording as o would have. I'm stumped.
Is there any other way of removing clicks? I have dozens of clicks over multiple tracks so doing them one by one will send me to the asylum. I can't use ReaFir because the clicks only happen when the instrument is playing so there is no 'quiet bit' with just the clicks to sample. These clicks were possibly an issue with the guitar that played them, and re-recording isn't an option, so is there any other way to get rid of them?
maybe you have idea how to deal with clicks which are modulated? i often deal with voiceovers, where like one syllable is overdrive/clicky/... I used to use rx de-click, but often it makes voice unnatural (at settings, when it reduce this kind of click), and its very cpu-munchy. Thanks
I'm Arinaldo, I'm Brazilian, I really liked your talk as removing clicks, you're top in Reaper, I just did not understand when you finish Remove Clicks as it leaves the clicks removal screen, that is to leave the normal track to finish the recording,
Hi. Great video, but I'm having a lot of difficulty and can't find an answer to the following: after I've inserted a split, sometimes I want to go right (down the timeline) just a little and insert another, and I can't; the track just highlights up to that point instead of inserting another split. How can I change this? Thanks for any guidance.
Make sure the snap function (magnet icon) is turned off so it's not snapping your cursor to the lines. I know this comment is 3 years old, but for posterity I'm answering.
I zoom in, select it and lower the gain of the selection. Often it can be a lip smack from a T. I want to keep it but at a normal volume so I reduce the gain. I once had a software with a horizontal line and no amplitude would go over the line when processed. Haven't been able to locate that software again.

everytime I wanna use a beat from my laptop and use it on reaper when I wanna hear it or record it makes noises like glitches, it would start off playing good then through out the beat it starts to make glitches do you think you can help or have a tutorial to help me fix this problem
Joel Pena think i narrowed the problem down to a buggy plugin. save the project, start a new one, and import all your wav files in to the new project, but dont use any plugins. you may need to re record some of the tracks that recorded the glitch permanently

Wow! This works like magic! Thank you so much Kenny!
Thank you. This just saved my mix and gave me an extra 2db of headroom.
Great to hear Kenny's oddly reassuring voice again!
7 years ago and still helping me rescue my terrible guitar playing skills.
2023 and still learning .. thanks for this video!!!
Thank you so much for all yor great videos Kenny!!
Regards from Spain.
Dude! That worked! You're a genius!
i almost popped my p watching this

Thanks for the great tip. I fixed a bad crackle in the middle of a VO using this. It worked perfectly.

Dude! Bruhhhh! ur an absolute genius for making this video. You make it look so easy. And it is...lol You saved me a ton of xtra work right now!😎👍🏼
In 2020 based on some of your newer tutorials, would you still use the split to fix a click/pop or perhaps use the pre-fx volume envelope?
I still use split to reduce p-pops every day

It's easy to make these edits destructive by simply gluing. I would opt normally to use the take volume envelope.
Kenny, is there a way to edit audio in reaper with a pencil tool, like you would do it in pro tools? thanks for the tutorials, you are the man! :D
Kenny sei un grande. grazie mi hai salvato. ti voglio bene
Brilliant thanks Kenny!
Is it possible to have this settings as an action/button? I want 10 ms fades for common split and to change the value to 50 quickly for editing pops
Thank you. Kenny. For this. Amazing! Tutorial. :D
Thanks for this!!
What if you have already used reagate and reacomp?
You can also automate the gain before FX

Can we have an updated versio this is not in sync with the current interface ,por favor.
bloody amazing! I should buy a pop shield! but in the mean time this is LIFE!!
Brilliant trick!! 👍 👍

The problem I have is a CONSTANT click in the background. Doesn't matter if I've recorded or not.
Great tip, thanks!

Why did I just lose it when he said "in this specific example, I popped my P"
I don't know, guess I'm very easily entertained 😂

I know this is 3 years old but I'm dealing with the same issue haha. Did you figure if it was cause of your pc or something else?

you need declicker and/or decrackler plugins instead
Can you recommend a declicker plugin?

You probably can apply volume envelope to an item with that unwanted sound to lower it.

Nice.
This didn't help, nobody seems to have a tutorial on how to get rid of static :(
Check out Audacity. Highlight section (
