  • Every artist wants their work seen. But do online views help spread their message or does the attention corrupt their intentions?
In this episode of Capturing The Internet, we join celebrated photographer, Mel D. Cole and a staple of the street performance world, Matthew Silver to explore the impact of the Internet on their art.
Mel recognizes that his work being seen can feel self-affirming but Matthew, on the other hand, feels deeply conflicted about creating work on the internet.
Both Mel & Matthew want to change the world with their art but will the internet’s “sickness” change their art first?

Mr. Silver, You have inspired me since I saw that first viral video those years ago. But I do feel there's legitimacy in the underlying message of this video which suggests that the algorithm prays on people and exploits them in a way that's not ethical or moral. But with you, it got it right. With you and many like you, voices have been lifted up, because it's a tool and like any tool, it can be misused. I understand the difficult feelings of day-to-day life, but you inspire me.

    "Being counter-productive is being productive"
    Yes -
The same way that saying nothing is saying a whole hell of a lot.
