I prefer the old x lite - bit.ly/Frskyxlite also i have updated my radio a few times to the latest firmware and still get the antenna warning ???
@UAVfutures For a quick workaround you could substitute the audio file for a "blank" audio file that way you just don't hear it any more.. That is provided you can still edit the audio files on this model.

I own this radio, the warning you hear is just that the external antenna is enabled by default, turn it off. It's going to be a few weeks but they changed their mind and made it backwards compatible with d16, not d8 though. The gimbals are adjustable and do feel better, I get a little better range with the radio than the original x-lite, still can't really justify 200 bucks for something that half works as of now. Put opentx nightly on asap for external module support. In a month, this may be all sorted out with new firmware

I had the same antenna warning as I received my x-lite pro. You have two options to fix it. First: put an external antenna that comes with this radio. Second: Disable external antenna option in your model settings -> Internal RF -> Options.

Hey...so, I am looking for a transmitter for battle bots, 1 lb ANTs. I need limits and expo on all channels. I really want a transmitter that is more like an xbox and also would love to be able to set the left stick to "zero" to the middle like the right stick for tank-style driving. Would this one do that? Do you recommend something different that would meet those requirements?
All I want is the 18650s and recharge through usb on my original xlite which I do like and regularly use with my tiny whoops over my qx7 (which for me in my opinion is still one of the best bang for buck radios you can buy considering the amount of upgrades you can do to it)

I preordered ( and saved for it for forrever) this radio as my first radio for flying...😬 my previous one was 433 mhz.... and 20 + years old so this was supposed to be the new and better one for all frsky receivers.... should have waited some more.... hope they solve this in the software.... until then watching RUclips and dreaming of my first steps into fpv hopefully soon.... love the form, only now the function.... greetings from Holland
You had me laughing with that bit at the end, radio antenna defective on repeat, that was hilarious. Was looking at getting the earlier version, but I might have to get a jumper t 16 instead.
Pretty harsh title if you ask me. I went through the same pains (1.5 weeks to get to me after order, waited 4 more days to see a firmware update, 3 more days to receive now receivers and a couple more to rewire everything). In my time while I couldn't fly, I emailed FrSky and asked them what the deal was. Their response: "So all of our previous receivers (mainly X-Series, S Series, and R9) will have their firmware rolled out gradually. The first batch is already completed and the R-XSR (our most popular quad receiver) is the first of the second batch, which also includes the XM Plus. The original R9 stuff will also be updated to use ACCESS as well, I believe as the 3rd batch." If it were me, I'd just say it was released too soon. I had an antenna issue as well, I went into the model settings, down to options and then turned off external module. Probably not the same issue, but I get the frustration. They just released XM and I believe the XM+ will be next in a couple of days.
I'm actually *very* happy with the new and improved protocol (and features) - but the lack of support for the old protocols is just ridiculous... Thankfully I got a multi-module because I don't want to deal with *any* protocol issues!
Really wish id seen this before i bought one! Im new to the hobby, and its been an incredibly frustrating first week trying to get this thing to bind to my mobula7 hd
Releasing this before support for the XM+ was fully embedded, is a pretty crazy move. The XM+ is very popular, because of the nice range to price ratio, and with RSSI on OSD, you don't really need the telemetry of the R-XSR. I'm sure it will work out in the end, but just still feels this release was rushed.
I thought the X Lite Pro was supposed to flash receivers wirelessly, over the air ? FYI, once you update a receiver to ACCESS, you can never run another protocol. You can't flash it back to non ACCESS.
Why did you flash normal firmware to receiver. If you want to use the receiver with the xlite you should have flashed the access firmware which was in the tab above on downloads page
Completely agree Stew. I think FrSky have gone Apple on us! Can you get GT’s reaction to this? Given your frustration I think he would let the bleeps fly 👍😎🇦🇺
I'm flying my XM+ drones with my Pro using OpenTX 3.2 nightly builds and a Vantac MPM. Hardly ideal but hopefully temporary. Although I do like pissed off Stu it's a nice change lol.
All I can say is you did something wrong or have a defective radio. I used Futaba and Spectrum for years as a fixed wing pilot but getting into drones my first radio was a QX7 which I used for about 6 months till using a guy's X-lite at a Dallas Drone Racing event and literately ordered one the following day. ZERO ISSUES with internal rf unit connecting with D8 and D16. I have since added a CRSF module to use it on long range drones and planes. I then added a TBS MPM and moved all my old fixed wing to the X-lite and proceeded to wear the transmitter out in a two year span. Which was no big deal as I kept backups and just reloaded everything on a fresh x-lite transmitter. The old transmitter still functions fine but has been dropped so many times and in my hands for so long it looked terrible. I have since added an ELRS module to use the less expensive, long range, and low latency RX's. I have more than 60 RC models an every single one of them is setup and can be used without issues on my X-lite. Not to mention it is so lite and not to compact like some of the other game style transmitters out. I wouldn't trade it for any other transmitter.
The problem is the software has is not ready yet. In a few months when this radio can do all the new functionality and also do all the OLD functionality it will be worth it. They just should have waited until they have the firmware ready to support the D16 and D8 before they released it. The fact it only works with the really new receivers that very few people own was a poor idea. I am sure in a year or two everyone with an old radio will start to wish they had this radio.
what's going on the the taranis xlite s, it seems to be a far better buy (still with the new ACCESS protocol though) but I can't seem to find it anywhere
Damn, I'm glad you kept it real even though it was sent to you. Frsky if your watching, your really screwing up, pull it together be positive, lookout for people, lookout for the community, find new ways to be innovative without being pricks doing underhanded things. Your gonna sink yourselves... The short run gains ARE NOT worth it in the long run, you people should know better than this. At the same time it is the pro version, most people buying it are likely or expected to be using r9 it crossfire.
It's so sad, because I love my x9d, and the qx7 and xlite looked like excellent products. If frsky never changed anything I would have remained a fan forever. I definitely wouldn't have even glanced at the jumper. I can say this - I'm staying on what's compatible with my receivers. I'm not going to flash them, and if I need a radio, it will work out-of-the-box whatever it is. I definitely don't care about their new protocol and I even wonder if the encryption introduces latency.
People say if you use a Crossfire setup you're locked into their RX's, which is completely true, but they haven't just done like FrSky have and fragmented their user base by introducing another protocol into their ecosystem, locking out 3rd party transmitters and receivers including those built-in to flight controllers. I want to go the Crossfire route for RSSI reliability, but the cost....
It's not really true you're locked into Crossfire. I use my X7S for all my older quads with FrSky receivers in them, and the newer quads with Crossfire use the plug in module. I don't even have to push a button, I just select the model I want to fly, and the radio selects the internal FrSky Tx or the Crossfire Tx in the back bay. I can even fly some of my planes that use FlySky, by popping in my FlySky module. Literally a 10 second swap out. Even though the Crossfire receivers are more expensive, (about $20 more than an XSR) - I find it's a no brainer when building a new quad, it's that much better all around it's worth the 20bucks. Knowing I can go up to 2 watts all automatically if I fly into trouble is $20 peace of mind for me. If I can see, I can fly it.
Hmm, with the latest nightlies (or so I have read), it is possible to use crsf on the X9 Lite. The pinout for the add-on module is the same, just located differentnly. Which is remedied for now with some DIY 3D printed brackets. And ACCTS has been implemented in the latest nightlies as well. So I don't think it's as bad as most RUclips influencers tend to proclaim (I'm looking at you JB). I'll see in a couple of weeks, when my X9 Lite arrives together with an R-XSR. My luck is, is that I don't have any conversion issues. I'm starting from scratch so to say, in the FrSky world.
I’m a hybrid pincher so those radios have never interested me but I certainly wouldn’t buy one that can’t even bind o older FrSky protocols. What about receivers like the X4R in fixed wings with servos? I guess this radio is mostly aimed at quad pilots but it seems like a massive oversight.
good on you stu, frsky is not the type of company i want to be associated with , gonna get a jumper when they get the bugs out. shame i love my qx7, also switching to crossfire from the r9
Flash it using the rear module bay of the T12. There is 5 pins. starting from bottom it's the first three pins you need. Joshua Bardwell has a video for it. Google "flash using external module bay frsky receiver" Should be good to go.
What they as well missed besides pissing users off. The idea with the screws at the back to be able to change modes is not really great. Most of the time they don‘t go in straight, missing the inner part where they are supposed to push down. As the stick friction is not existant, the radio needs to be opened anyway to add some. It would have been great to adust the spring tensions seperately for all directions, instead of this silly feature. Besides that, I love my normal xlite and switched all my quads to it. It can do D8. The „Pro“ is currently in the basement, waiting for the future.
Ya'll gonna buy the new stuff anyway guys, dont act this tough :P I bought the pro as a first transmitter together with the r9mm receiver as my first receiver. Havent flown it yet, but I love it up till now. Why? It narrows down the choice for a beginner, and thats whats its all about for me, and what it should be about. This is not about ya'll long timers, you are settled, you understand hobby, you only have to flash some firmware and buy a few new reveicers, get over it. Its difficult enough to wrap my mind around this hobby, for every beginner, this makes it easier. Good for me. Peace.
XM+ is next receiver due for the access firmware update. And they have announced that an update is coming in just a few days to make the radio compatible with all old d16 protocol. It sucks that this stuff wasnt available already but the fact is this is not a "maybe". This isn't shady business practices. Its just a new product that was released with software that needs some updates.
This is all very helpful to Jumper! OK I love my XLite and they can remove my ACCST from my cold dead hands! Though I'd love to have wireless flashing of my R9 receivers, I have far too many D8 receivers to bother with ACCESS. BTW I now own a Jumper T16, and Frsky you better be scared.
They were a paperweight for the entire first year. Now, with ISRM 2.x, they've broken compatibility with SPI integrated receivers so popular on whoops these days. If only there were a new, amazing, affordable radio link from IRC that also has TBS in full fire-sale, new product release mode, people wouldn't have to put up with their shit. Oh wait...
BTW not really a fix if the whatever is defective but if you rename or delete the sound file on the SD card for the warning that’s bugging you it will shut it up lol.
Yep, had a feeling it was going to be bad. Someone needs to tell Frsky " Stop, just stop it." No idea why they got so scared by little jumper, I am happy with the trains and I was thinking of getting the little guy with the R9 setup but, now I am going to wait.
Wow the hate. Its not as bad as it seems. Frsky has committed to provide update for all their receivers and they had advertised this info on their website from at least last week. They haven't released the firmware for XM+ yet, but this transmitter was still on preorder earlier this week, (Now in stock at bangood apparently). The current ACCST protocol is 10 years old, an update is way overdue and if you look at what it can provide in the specs it is impressive. Gives us some features that TBS Crossfire guys have been crowing about for ages, like over the air firmware update for receivers, lower latency and lots of others, go have a look guys. It will not be everyone's answer but with the backward compatibility issue now being moot as they will support all Frsky receivers soon (but probably not spi receivers, goodbye tiny woops dammit) it may be worth waiting to see if it does live up to its hype, but the new features are way overdue, and If it Frsky can deliver as promised this will be a huge upgrade to the old and somewhat tired ACCST protocol. I am looking forward to the future and when the XM+ firmware upgrade does appear, I might just see then.
If the new protocol is much better than the old one why not have the option to choose in the transmitter and not need to change protocol in all of your receivers. I always get a little hesitant when companies try to force a product on you instead of making me want it.
Here is my problem. I originally bought a rtf with a flysky. It no longer is working witch means I can't fly any of my 3 quads. I bought the cable for the simulator. Downloaded drl sim and it says my radio is defective. I've reset it shows everything working on the display function of my radio. When I hook everything to beta flight nothing. Now frsky what I would have bought are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats and I can't see myself giving them a dime. Would definitely buy a t 16 but the whole multiprotocol thing scares me. I hate the computer bullshit in this hobby. Completely ok with the soldering now but beta flight SUCKS!!! 90%OF THE VIDEOS TO HELP YOU ARE FOR FRSKY? SHOULD I BUY THE JUMPER OR SELL MY QUADS. CAUSE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FRSKY DEAL TO PLAY OUT. if you guys don't start putting out how to jumper videos I think I'm just gonna cut my $2000 in losses and sell all this shit cause right now that's all it is is SHIT!
I have the first X-LITE, love it, also I have QX7, and I was going to sell it and buy X-LITE pro as back up. Then the Xlite mainboard died, the Frsky failed to figure it out and wanted me to send gimbal for inspection. So I took a bid and bought a new mainboard , and I was right. And now this with Xlite pro??? I am keeping what I have from FRsky, but no more. Next time I will think in a different direction.
Mitja Bort hey mate. I just switched from the x9d to the xlite. My rates were waaaaayyyy off for the xlites sensitivity. Any chance you could send me the rates you use so I've got an idea of what should at least be flyable? Please!
@@EmDubz Hi, I actually left the same rates I had on Qx7, I usually have 1.25-1.35 rc rates and adjust mid throttle. It is pretty much it. Hope I helped.

Disable external antenna in settings and updates coming soon to allow use of other receivers.
Also D16 with S6R will not bind even with firmware update to internal module.

The original R9 stuff will also be updated to use ACCESS as well, I believe as the 3rd batch."
If it were me, I'd just say it was released too soon. I had an antenna issue as well, I went into the model settings, down to options and then turned off external module. Probably not the same issue, but I get the frustration.
They just released XM and I believe the XM+ will be next in a couple of days.
I have crossfire and R9m working via nightly opentx releases.
@@zimzillakilla on the xlite pro? How did you get access firmware on the r9 (or non access firmware on the xlite pro?) Any videos or tutorials?
I'm actually *very* happy with the new and improved protocol (and features) - but the lack of support for the old protocols is just ridiculous...
Thankfully I got a multi-module because I don't want to deal with *any* protocol issues!
D16 is in the works for internal support.
I think they came up with the drivers needed, I've been considering purchasing this sucker. Have you tried to update it?
GettingHighw/ aRandomGuy I got an x lite s recently. Drone will be here in 3 weeks. Lemme know if I can help.
Can't flash over the air till you upgrade to access.
That's not quite true
there is an update for this rc to fix the radio antenna defective... available since few weeks.... :/
like I say in the vid... the update didnt fix mine : (
Why did you flash normal firmware to receiver. If you want to use the receiver with the xlite you should have flashed the access firmware which was in the tab above on downloads page
Well that’s that sorted then! So glad I went with the Nirvana with a Frsky module on the back!
Completely agree Stew. I think FrSky have gone Apple on us! Can you get GT’s reaction to this? Given your frustration I think he would let the bleeps fly 👍😎🇦🇺
$200 and it's not even work with some old receivers. No way. Let them keep it.
I'm flying my XM+ drones with my Pro using OpenTX 3.2 nightly builds and a Vantac MPM. Hardly ideal but hopefully temporary. Although I do like pissed off Stu it's a nice change lol.
Nice work! Love your videos ❤
You have to choose internal antenna and then it works.
On the plus side it is actually telling you your radio antenna is defective rather than finding that out in the field.
I have good news. They just released the XM firmware. Hopefully they will release the XM Plus next.
lol my 1 year old little brother was screaming in happiness while i was watching this LOL
what's going on the the taranis xlite s, it seems to be a far better buy (still with the new ACCESS protocol though) but I can't seem to find it anywhere
At the same time it is the pro version, most people buying it are likely or expected to be using r9 it crossfire.
thanks for editing the video to not sound like u were going to cuss the radio out
I was ganna buy this should I not?
Yeah, it is good that Frsky is getting some tough love. Hopefully they can change their policies.
Freezesky?
How do I update a R-xsr reciever without a frsky receiver, I have the jumper t12?
Flash it using the rear module bay of the T12. There is 5 pins. starting from bottom it's the first three pins you need. Joshua Bardwell has a video for it. Google "flash using external module bay frsky receiver" Should be good to go.
@@short-circuitz I'll check it out. Thanks
Question to anyone can see this message: updating it to open tx will I be able to solve this receiving problems with most of the drones?
Are those square graphene batteries any good?
Just a hunch, you may have a defective radio antenna
What they as well missed besides pissing users off. The idea with the screws at the back to be able to change modes is not really great. Most of the time they don‘t go in straight, missing the inner part where they are supposed to push down. As the stick friction is not existant, the radio needs to be opened anyway to add some. It would have been great to adust the spring tensions seperately for all directions, instead of this silly feature. Besides that, I love my normal xlite and switched all my quads to it. It can do D8. The „Pro“ is currently in the basement, waiting for the future.
I wonder why RUclips sent me here, did not understand most of what you said but I enjoyed your energy. I think you're antenna is defective.
Ya'll gonna buy the new stuff anyway guys, dont act this tough :P
I bought the pro as a first transmitter together with the r9mm receiver as my first receiver.
At best it's released with software that is at most one third finished/developed. Not beta but alpha status. I'll steer well clear :).
Well I was going to recommend this transmitter for my Son-in-law as a starting radio....but now, I’ll stick with the old version
So I can not flash the X lite S or pro to the old firmware ACCST? Maybe the better deal than flashing every RX to ACCESS
Is it still worth buying the regular X-lite at this point...or will you be getting left behind?
Oh wait...
BTW not really a fix if the whatever is defective but if you rename or delete the sound file on the SD card for the warning that’s bugging you it will shut it up lol.
any updates since your =( review ? (asking from an entry-level, no products in my inventory)
Yep, had a feeling it was going to be bad. Someone needs to tell Frsky " Stop, just stop it."
No idea why they got so scared by little jumper, I am happy with the trains and I was thinking of getting the little guy with the R9 setup but, now I am going to wait.
Half year later, studio shots STILL OUT OF FOCUS ! oh my God !!
Btw shouldn't that be on erskytx?
The X9 lite is the one with dual firmware support
If you changed your mind, can you reflash it back?
😂 At least you got the flying saucer to work with it..
Mitja Bort Cheers for the input - just realised I hadn't calibrated the x-lite. Silly me!
Hi everybody, just wanted to know some store I could purchase from, around Sydney Australia. Cheers
soon as both my x9ds die I will be looking into jumper.
You can lower the radio volume ;)
Do you ever sell drones with controllers and couples
