How's that for crazy
Leafs may make it past the first round they have no opponent.
So Leafs are in for Bedard….
If Seattle gets goal keeping like last night they’ll make the playoffs. They can score goals …
@@MixerMadness doubt it
That would be a fun playoffs.
Shannon!!! You've been wearing ALoT of the Winged Wheel this season. Keep that shit up Cat man.
Lgrw!
It's early; Injuries, fatigue and travel will start taking their toll sooner than later.
Unless your the canucks, good thing we cornered the market on bottom 6 dmen
I love how Dellendrea gets fined but Marchment takes a clear elbow to the jaw and doesn't even get a penalty.
East dominating the West except for the Leafs where 4 of their 5 losses have been to the west.
And the pens
Not doing so hot in western Canada
@@omfg322 that's why he said 4 out of 5
I feel like they kept the divisions just so they could claim winners and raise division champ banners.
Toronto was involved in a trade rumour… gee… that’s something i’ve never heard before…
a 5th was very cheap tho.
any update on oettinger?
The strength of conferences fluctuates over time.. There was a time where the West dominated and it will happen again. It happens, so what. Just like divisional strength changes over time.
I don't know about you guys, but I for one sleep alot better knowing that THG is tracking the east vs west record.
I said it after they won the cup, whether kadri stayed or not, Colorado’s current core started winning too late in the life cycle of the core, last season they seized the moment, but I really don’t see this core winning another cup, I’m not saying they aren’t a good team but last year was their year and they scratched and fought for it till the end, kadri was amazing but I don’t think he would replicate what he did in that run again, defensively they are set with byram and makar, but their forward group is getting up there in overall age…it’s crazy that mackinnon is closer to 30 than 20, landeskog isn’t getting any younger, I’m not ruling them out of future presidents trophy’s but I really can’t see this forward group putting in another hard run for a cup, they need that next young center to balance things out cause other wise they will be what they’ve been before kadri, a team with one really good line and not much else.
I recently found out that teams have their own dentists.
If I was a dentist, I think a hockey team would be a gold-tooth mine.
On the other hand, I don't know if I'd want to stay that busy.
As in, if I had to be a doctor, I'd be a dermatologist, because no one would call me in the middle of the night with a rash.
The Bear move would've been neat, but with wanting to keep the pick and with Liljegren and Jordie Benn set to return soon, I get it.
a 5th round draft pick usually never makes the NHL
East vs West goes in phases and doesn't really mean anything.
Eastern conference teams have won 5 of the last 7 Stanley Cups (1 by Washington and repeats by Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay), but the West won 7 of the 9 before that (including the years when Chicago and the LA Kings alternated championships, along with wins by the LA Ducks and the then-Western Detroit Red Wings). Before that you had three consecutive Eastern wins (interrupted by the lockout year), and before that the West won 5 out of 6 (a streak interrupted and bookended by New Jersey, mostly consisting of the Detroit-Colorado archrivalry). That was preceeded by five consecutive Eastern wins, and before that the West won 6 out of 7 (mostly Edmonton, with one from Calgary), and before that a really long Eastern streak (Philly, Boston, Montreal, and the NY Islanders), but by that point we are obviously in the age of great dynasties.
Parity makes it harder for one conference to dominate, because it doesn't allow one or two teams to be so dominant for so long. The bottom line is that conferences don't win Stanley Cups, teams do.
Isn’t a bit contradictory if they only have 3 picks how’d they get there by “valuing draft picks”
This is the best that I’ve seen the New Jersey Devils play in YEARS.-Right now they are the best team in the New York area-WORD!
I would love it if they would just eliminate the divisions in general and just have the top 8 teams in the two conferences. It's at the point when you don't even play against your division much more than non-division teams.
how soon till the Leafs make a shake it up trade?
The question is whether they can? Many teams are struggling with cap space. I think you are more likely to see Sheldon Keefe get fired before the core in Toronto gets shaken up. But I do agree that the core in Toronto needs a shake up.
Methinks Keefe will be the first change.
Tuesday
@@darthvader3742 Totally agree.
I think things will improve when Liljegren comes into play. Then around Christmas Holl and a prospect gets shipped to Arizona for Josh Brown. After they ask Seattle about Larsson.
Oh!
Man you fast!
re: East West. You don't win three playoff series and be a bad team, making for an interesting Cup, even if a harder series was fought in your own division.
Leafs are at 50 contracts, so cant trade for Bear for pick without at least sending contract the other way without being over.
Whoever makes the shorts for the official NHL channel should get fired.
East dominates West. Penguins have entered the conversation. (Pens fan here)

While I'm not concerned so much by the Bear trade itself from a Vancouver perspective generally, because a 5th is more than fair on paper for the player, I'm just concerned that despite Jim Rutherford's insistence that the Canucks are probably headed into a rebuild, this is just a sign they're trying to put 4 new to us tires on a beat up 1984 Honda Prelude that was formerly some teenager and Fast and the Furious fan's first car. There are some excellent pieces in Vancouver, but there are so many holes and with the cap situation what it is, maybe sticking with this core entirely leaves the team in a place where the core is over the hill by the time the team should be ready to compete again. It's been ownership and management's reluctance to rebuild the team that has led us to this place, so while I don't mind the trade itself as an isolated move, I'm just tired of everyone's reluctance to do the job correctly and not take giant shortcuts. For years, the team would give up picks and prospects who would pan out later for "NHL ready" players who had a much lower ceiling and who would end up walking for nothing. A 5th for Ethan Bear is more than fair, but if the team's not good enough to make the playoffs anyway, I'd rather finish in the bottom 3 in the NHL than end up just barely making it, like last year. Overrating the team has been a major downfall in past years. The tealeaves were read seriously wrong after the bubble playoffs, and Montreal made a similar mistake and despite compounding that with a 1st round PR blunder, they still have some good, young players and may be on their way to a turnaround soon if things pan out for them. The Canucks, by contrast, are still in cap hell.
shannon i gotta ask how on earth do u not of a career video of bobby orr like huh
It might have something to do with when he played. I thought Shannon has mentioned only doing career videos for players he watched play. Orr stopped playing in the mid-70's. I assume Shannon would have been a little kid at the time.
@@PeterDrake he did a video on Ted Lindsay(retired 1965) and I think he’s done a bunch of others
Leafs dominate themselves
NHL needs to expand to 42 teams and have a balanced schedule
Better yet 48
@@shawnschaitel838 48 would require 94 games per season for a balanced schedule, it's probably too much.
@@iliaponomarev1624 just end most out of confrence games with you only playing one out of cofrence division each season
@@shawnschaitel838 that won't be a balanced schedule
If they went to 1-16, the first two rounds would have to be 2-3-2.
The East has been better than the west at least the past 5 years, no?
The leafs were INTERESTED in a player. Alert the press.
i would rather take bear over holl
Dellandrea didn't care about playing toward the puck and a goalie backing into him*
Fixed that for ya.
Yeah, he didn't care about colliding with a goaltender who couldn't see him coming. You're right about that!
If you collide with a player who isn't part of the play when you didn't have to and could have avoided them it isn't an interference at all and you definitely would have the same tune if it happened to Otter :)
Too bad Vancouver didn’t save the 5th round pick
So?
Toronto save a pick and will get a valuable asset. Vancouver is getting a guy they could have picked up on waviers
@@Jackthgun Bear was never put on waivers. You're in no position to say definitively
He was likely going to go to AHL if Vancouver hadn’t done the trade . We are now down a valuable pick
@@Jackthgun No, somebody would have claimed Bear on waivers. Why do you think the Hurricanes didn't waive him already? They obviously wanted to get something for the asset
I seem to remember that not too long ago, the Western conference had its way with the East.... but that just could be the voices in my head starting to chirp again.....
Ethan Bear isn’t going to do much to bring this team around. He’s only an average/slightly above average D.
Nobody said he would be a needle mover
