    We miss walking and shopping in Huddersfield! As my Mum is from nearby Clayton West we used to fly from Malaysia to visit relatives at least once a year. Due to the pandemic we have not been back in 2 years. Thank you for this reminder of how beautiful Huddersfield is.

    Great video: Glad you opened with Harold Wilson who, after Clem Atlee, was the best peacetime Prime Minister we ever had.
    Huddersfield's Victorian masterpieces makes me think of my own Glasgow which is so familiar to me I can't see it clearly any more.
    I like RUclips video tours very much whether Europe or Canada or the USA, and of all the many I have watched, yours are easily the best.
    Huddersfield I only passed through decades ago, but I have deep affection for the North, its people and its writers.
    Keep on filming !

      It really means a lot to hear you enjoy watching these videos as we explore England's North, and even further afield in the coming months too!
      Thank you so much for watching!

    Full of memories... Graduated from there and stayed in Trinity house for a long time... Each and every corner is well known to me... Saw Malaika's at a glance where I worked for few days... Those blue stairs where I would wait for my love😢... That town centre pubs restaurants... All are crystal clear memories now... Visit storthes hall and greenhead park once😢. The most beautiful place I have ever visited is Stratford upon Avon ( William Shakespeare's birth place) and it was also from Huddersfield... Wish to be there once again... Miss you Huddersfield...😢😢😢❤️

    A home of industrial history, culture and arts, a thriving university campus, two former Prime Ministers and the sport of rugby league, there's so much to discover in Huddersfield - one of West Yorkshire's largest towns!
    I hope you enjoy this walk around Huddersfield :)

      I loved this video. I visited Huddersfield back in 2019, and was shown around by a cousin. It is so lovely to see Huddersfield again. I was amazed by the buildings and history. I have ancestors from this area (I'm an Aussie) and had no idea about the history and beauty of the city. Thank you for sharing it. I've been following your walks for a while; this is definitely my favourite. Keep up the good work!

    I remember Huddersfield. I didn't get any time to look around though. I was in Manchester at a friend's house, and he dropped me off at the train station. That's when I learned about limited Sunday service. The train took me to Huddersfield where I got off at that amazing station, and there were a couple of buses waiting for us just across the street. There's way more to this story, but I don't want to bore anyone.

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 года назад

      It's always lovely to hear you share memories! As you mention, the station is absolutely wonderful, and there's more to the town, just as I'm sure there is to your story too :)
      Thank you for watching and commenting as always - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!

      @@dominospizza4386 That bus took me to Leeds, where I was told I had to change for a bus to York. Being Sunday, there was nobody working there, so I just asked another passenger, and he told me which bay to wait at. Time passed, and the bus didn't show up. I got talking to a lady who was waiting for her boyfriend, and she told me I'd missed it. I had been directed to the wrong platform. There was another bus heading for Newcastle (I think) and she suggested I talk to the driver. He said he was going through York and could let me off there.
      It was quite a roundabout way of getting to York, but I saw a lot of nice countryside.

    Wow. I've never been to Huddersfield, so I didn't know what a handsome town it is. I'd love to visit when I can get to the north. However, I can't think that the rugby league team were known as the giants throughout most of their illustrious history. That sounds like some kind of a weird recent affectation. I think they were just Huddersfield when my dad used to watch them play on TV.

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 года назад

      Huddersfield certainly has quite the range of gorgeous buildings - and it's a fascinating place to visit too! Good eye on the rugby team name - you're absolutely right, as 'Giants' was added to the team name in 1996, but they were actually called Huddersfield Barracudas at one point before (again in the later 20th century)
      Thank you very much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video!
