I've had 2 "temporary" rubber plugs installed in 351W for 17 years now. Still no leaks.

Man, viewer mileage may vary but that is an awesome piece of information. Long as it works, why bother addressing it. At least you know they’ll pop out if they need to!

@@northlanderco196 If one leaks, I'll pull it and replace it with another rubber plug. $10 and 20 minutes of my time.....versus pulling the engine and "doing it properly". Then the "proper" plug leaks again! Just sayin'.

I'm replacing a plug on the passenger side behind the mount on a 302. I'm unsure of th best place to lift the engine a little so that I can have a little more space to fit in the plug. I saw that you used a log on your jack but where did u place it under th engine. I'm nervous about lifting from the oil pan and doing any damage. Thanks for posting this!

So it’s actually a big ratchet strap from a semi truck, coiled up. I didn’t want a hard surface making a singular point of contact lifting the oil pan. This very effectively and simply put pressure all over. I put it under the oil pan where I thought it had good purchase and just slowly lifted it up. Hope that helps!

@@northlanderco196 Thank you so much for the fast reply. Great idea, that makes total sense and now that i threw all my old straps that size out ikl have to get creative to do the same. Have a good night!

Is there any silicone or anything you have to put when installing these

A light amount of silicone would work, but permatex or excessive amounts has the potential to stop them popping when they should. This Bronco’s 351 block was cracked due to the freeze plugs failing to work properly - they were practically welded in place with sealant

so why is it that i have both motor mounts unbolted and the motor will still not rasie up

Assuming you have the same engine, those are the two main mounting points. You could give yourself some slack on the bolts holding the transmission to the crossmember. Just back it off a little. Otherwise, there really isn’t a ton of hardware fastening the block down. Best of luck!

What a bummer man, tragedy but definitely manageable to repair for even a shade tree mechanic like myself
