    One Thing we do here in the cold North is run the tube from the diesel heater around the batterys and water storage, before it goes to the tent. It creates enough heat to keep the batteries warm and water thawed. Lithium batteries do not like the cold.

    -9 for me on a mountaineering trip in the Pecos Wildeness of New Mexico when I was 17. I didn’t know at the time that you were supposed to put your boots in your sleeping bag cover and sleep with them. Boots were frozen solid. Took me forever to get them on. Now that I have a diesel heater I can deal with camping in cold weather. I enjoyed the 3 snowzark videos. Ozarks are awesome especially with snow.

    Winter wheeling is a blast!! We had a buddy that "parked" on a small pond, didn't realize what it was until the heat from the engine melted the ice enough for the front of his Tacoma to drop in. Made for a fun day. And as for the heaters... you get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once!!

    I never get tired of offroading in the snow! There were some pucker moments in that hill climb about 16 minutes in. I thought a few were going to tag that tree!

    What a nice trip! Thank you. Our favorite time of the year is winter camping. No bugs and only the people as crazy as us. 😂 East Coast camping in warm temps is just about impossible to find a spot not taken already.
    YAY, Bluetti to the rescue! Our go-to power station Co.#1
    I am interested to see how you feel about the Planar Diesel heater. For us, the Hcalory 5k all in one is a great value. When you figure you can buy about 9 of them for the same price as 1 Planar 4K. That money I'd rather spend some place else on my rig. Second season with Hcalory and it keeps growing on me each use. It's so much nicer than our Red Box vertical tower diesel heater, which was heavy and not a fan of the exhaust out of the bottom.
    Keep rockin the content! 😊

Kept warm in a battery powered heated sleeping bag. Hope to upgrade to a diesel or propped heater by next winter.

    Camping temp limit: Probably 30's. Usually around there or a bit lower I will run the car with the rear heat on for 10 minutes or so and make it nice and warm which will be good for at least getting to sleep. Small perk of sleeping in the car. Then in the morning I will do the same while I prepare to head back out on the trail.

    At one point you asked the question: when is it too cold to be out doing this? That's a different answer for everyone - I've primitive-camped in deep DEEP snow and I've Glamped in the Colorado San Juans in absolutely perfect weather and comfort, and everything in between. With so many variables I'd guess that the best answer to your question might be: When you're not having fun anymore. Just keep in mind that this activity is always hard on gear, and in extreme temps (hot or cold) things BREAK.

    I love the looks of the gladiator, and it's obvious offroad ability. I'm stuck between Colorado zr2, or a Gladiator rubicon. It'll be my dd, then weekend rig.... I won't be doing anything hardcore, just above average trail riding and hauling a small bunkhouse camper. Going diesel either option. My biggest concern is upon researching everyone seems to act like the gladiator is like driving a 60s model truck on the road.... Is this true, or just people being dramatic? Most of my vehicles have been solid axle.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  6 месяцев назад

      The gladiator is the best solid axle vehicle I've ever driven. Between the ZR2 and the JT Rubicon, if you're going to keep it stock, go ZR2. If you're going to modify it the Gladiator is the obvious choice.
