    You can collect the Zinnia seeds, it's easy. Just save the bottom row of seeds once the flower is dry on the top. Put in paper bag to finish drying. It will save you tons of dollars the following year. I sowed some the other day that I collected two years ago and they are up. I am going to direct sow some now I know they are viable seeds. Cosmos are lovely too. I am planting some this week. I bought a few poppy and dahlia seeds. I can't wait to see how they turn out. My first time of doing them by seed. I am excited about gardening this year. Thanks for the garden update, loved it. :)

      Hi Mary. We will double check or Zinnias more carefully as they begin to dry and see how many seeds we can actually harvest. Thanks for the info. Keep us posted on how well your dahlia seeds do this year. Thanks again for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard

      Amen Hope. The number of communities, families, individuals and animals that have suffered through hurricanes, flooding, forest fires and personal tragic events recently is appalling. No one wants to see anyone suffer. Perhaps this is just a wake-up call that all of us need to truly come together, help our neighbors, and respect one another. Thank again you for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard

      Hi Wesley. The images we see on the evening news are beyond imagination as to the horror and the mess communities are left with. So glad to hear you are alright and able to help others in need. We need more of this kind of love and eliminate division being played out elsewhere. Hopefully, we won't need an Alien invasion to bring and keep us all together. Stay dry, warm and safe. We send you our hugs and prayers. Thanks for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard

    I’ve got a hibiscus like your red one & it’s sterile. The bloom pods just drop off shortly after the flower petals fall out. They’re breeding/selling a lot more sterile varieties. Really enjoyed seeing how everything looks for the start of Fall! Such an enjoyable landscape you’ve both created. Thanks so much for sharing this w/us!

    Hi Lynn and Richard. The burgundy leafed plant I gave you is called Perilla, Shiso. It is an herb and edible. It is an annual that REALLY reseeds a lot. Sorry to say BUT I think you waited too long to cut the Perilla back. It's light color you are showing us means it has dried already and dropped most of its seeds. I warned you that it was a 'go crazy' annual. I, too, have waited too long to pull mine out. Soooooooooooo I will be pulling young plants in Spring. They really come out easy when they are young. In most of my 2018 videos you will see that I had a lot of plants this year. Love the color and fills large areas quickly. Take care. I enjoyed your tour.

    I wouldn't dare compare your garden with mine or anyone else's as yours outshines all I've seen. The, Senna I'm wondering if it's the one used for laxatives? I loved your elephant ears and that's the only thing in my yard bigger than yours. At 9 feet tall and 6 babies our biggest just beat it's old record. Thanks for the video, sure have missed you two and hope your feeling good. Much love and peace, blessings. ♡☆♡☆♡

      @WisconsinGarden  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Wilma. Every garden is a blessing where size really doesn't matter when you love what you have. Senna leaves can be used in tea we're told to relieve constipation. So I guess using the word laxative would be reasonable. Got to love gigantic Elephant Ear Leave - they are impressive, especially here in Wisconsin a non-tropical zone. We're happy were found some time to create more videos now that all of our major presentation are completed, although we still have a garden presentation to do in a couple of weeks. I have a question, is it better to move hosta's in the spring or fall?

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  6 лет назад

      Hi April. Early Spring and Early Fall are always a great time to move and plant Hostas. Hostas are very durable plants as long as they are listed as hardy for your growing zone. While Hostas prefer being planted in shaded area, depending upon the variety, many can also do well in partial shade. We even have some that seem to thrive in full morning/noon sun. If of concern, many new varieties are deer and rabbit resistant. They prefer well drained, rich organic soil as opposed to hard clay soils. Just remember to water, not over-water, frequently through fall to give the plant time to set roots. You can also add a couple of inches of bark mulch, shredded leaves or straw to help retain even moisture. We occasionally fertilize all of our berm plants with a local product called Milorganite but other plant food and fertilizers are available at your local garden center. Check the clumps you're about to move for slugs and grubs and cut back all the dead hosta leaves before the snow flies. Other essential oils can also repel unwanted pests. Have fun planting. Thanks again for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard

    • @WisconsinGarden
      @WisconsinGarden  4 года назад

      Hi Judy. That depends upon where you live. Here in Wisconsin that would be too late for the seed plants to grow and bloom. However, if you live in a warmer climate, depending upon your weather, it' possible they could grow year-round.
      While we'd love to send you our video links, there wouldn't be enough room to do so here. We think you'd enjoy having access to videos that would be of interest to you since you're a first-time gardeners.

      Hi Robina. Since our soil is mainly composed of leaf mulch and grass clippings, we do not fertilize anything. We often use Milorganite for our lawn. Thanks again for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard

      Hi Sandy. We will have to wait and see how the weather affects harvesting seeds. We will be sure to mention the offer in an upcoming video if and when seeds are available. Please stay tuned. Thanks again for watching, caring and sharing. Lynn & Richard
