My nail tech did none of this. She pushed cuticles back in seconds, put some sort of primer on and started painting them with the gel color. Between coats, she had me under the UV for about 20 seconds. They came out very uneven coats, and uneven shapes. I did nails 30 years ago and knew something wasn't right.
This is why I use CND Shellac gel polish instead of OPI. You don't have to buff your nail bed, and it only takes 5 minutes to soak off with their Offly Fast remover (which is also moisturizing). Yeah, OPI Gelcolors are amazeballs but aren't worth weakening my nails.
@@91frankthetank helps push . It can hurt pushing cuticles back if they are too dry . Alcohol doesn’t have oil and helps dry nail plate as well ( oil will be applied after set)

But why do we need to buff or file for gel polish but not regular? It really weakens the nail beds
To get rid of the oil to avoid any lifting.
To remove oil, any excess dry cuticle, and to give the polish something to sink into.
