Well Swince. You missed one Age of Imperialism Update about China but now you should really play the next one. In the next update Portugal, Australasia and Canada will get their unique focus tree. I highly reccomend playing as Portugal because... the ability to create New Lusitania, intergrate Spanish Generals and to core former Portuguese colonies in south America (Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay) is cool af.
I actually tried beginning to play as manchuria in Age of Imperialism sadly the frontlines bugged out and volunteers didn't move which made it unplayable for me ):
