    so we need a Canadian map version to generate 3D reliefs.

    The roughing pass seemed to leave a lot of material on the Z axis.

      That's probably because 1) There's a 1mm leave stock 2) The way that the roughing happens on that plane. You can reduce your stepdown if you need the Z axis to have more material removed before the relief pass.

    Have a MK2 on order, working on learning the software, this video was good orientation to CAMLab, did run in on my laptop, still lots to learn. Is there CAMlab step by step tutorial?
    And BTW only very little Canada terrain on that topological website. Any tips on how to get Canadian terrain maps to carve?

    Followed exactly, every time I try to export the finishing, CAMlab crashes, every time. and the project is no longer there because I have to reload the page and I have to start over. help?

      Hi Caleb, what's the size of the file you're trying to work with in CAMLab? If the file is especially large then CAMLab can start to struggle. You can save the workspace though so you don't lose your progress if the page refreshes. Feel free to email us if you'd like more help

    I’m in the market for a cnc and yours don’t look bad. Just not sure about screw driven for a 33x33 because of lead whip which I know nothing about. I’m trying to stay around $1500 to $2000 for machine . I will reach out to you to get more info.

    Have you guys released the open source files for us to build our own LongMill? If not, do you know when that might be? My father and I are looking to build one and would love to build a LongMill.

    So, you did the rough finish on a file and then the relief file, my confusion is, isn't the "finishing" option the one that was suppose to go over the rough pass...? so what is the difference between the finishing and relief option...?
    I have other questions as I'm trying to use this software with my Chinese 6040Z with a 1.5kw spindle and I can't find any instructions anywhere with details on how to use this software and what everything means but for now my first question will be enough.

      The difference is that the Finishing does a very similar type of cutting to the Roughing, only it won't try to remove the initial material that the Roughing has already taken out. The Relief is a certain type of finishing except it's specifically for cutting large curved surfaces which the Finishing is not made to do. There's another example of how this all works shown in our new video here: ruclips.net/video/Mpt84_SZsHw/видео.html

      If you click in the right mouse button and hold it while dragging the mouse toward you, it'll rotate the camera so you can see the top of the file 👍

    what is the suggested feed rate for cutting with the longmill? Like, if i want to cut out a circle for a sign.

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  4 года назад

      It will depend on your material, but you can find basic feeds and speeds on our website here: sienci.com/dmx-longmill/materials/

    Hi chris/andy, question about setting material size. For round shape cutting board i have, how do you specify the Material Size in cam lab?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  4 года назад

      You would just worry about the detail you're trying to cut. Or if you'd like you can make the round shape within your original 3D model

    What material did you use for this project? How well would MDF work?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  4 года назад +1

      We used pine. MDF would work as well but if you want your detail to be more crisp then you should use a harder species of wood
