I’m with David on this one. He got the job done in the safest way possible.
I am actually stunned I agree. The chance he would die anyway was almost certain, only David was standing between him and Darkseid. Heck, even Batman pulled the trigger once on a villian to prevent/end an Anti-equation Apocalypse...

@@Geralddd966 In _Final Crisis_ he was a threat because Grant Morrison treats the King with the proper reverence. In comics since then though, he's been dwarfed by things like Perpetua.
Some needed aclarations:
1) Darkseid is not an alien or a genetic experiment, he is a New God, he embodies the self-aware idea of tiranny that exists across all of creation and functions as the archetypal figure of evil in the nature of all beings, basically the cosmic version of Satan made by Jack Kirby that is part of a pantheon of deities that incarnates the ideal of technological progression instead of the classic symbols, a modern version of the Gods for a modern world (which Kirby got the idea after World War II)
2) Darkseid is not a being from the reality, The Dark Gods of the Fourth World exists in the extra-dimensional realm of Apokolips outside the multiverse, under the "True Reality of The Source" that exists beyond space and time, representing the promise of symbolic, platonic world, where evil won and controls all life, that can only be accessed via Boom-Tubes (dimensional portals that also re-adjust the physics of those who use it to survive in the Fourth World). Jack Kirby gave an example of how this worlds works as archetypal utopias, such as when we are in times of war and we think that everything is going to end crap in an apolicalyptic sense or is the end of the world, we are touching with our imagination an aspect of Apokolips as a negative pole in the future, but when we recall and there is still hope for things to get better and that humanity will improve, we are shaping and touching an aspect of New Genesis, the positive traits of our nature and future. In the same regard, Darkseid and The Anti-Life Equation works into the unconscious, when a human let angers to control him and has that he would like to control the behaviour of everyone with his will in his imagination, that is basically Darkseid playing his function into our minds searching Anti-Life.
3) Darkseid uses metaphysical avatars of himself called Godheads to enter reality instead of this true 4D body (which is a eldritch shadow that can put the entire multiverse into a singularity as in Final Crisis), the current Godhead of Darkseid in Infinite Frontier is the complete version and where he can use the totality of his power, and even so he has to use the Boom Tubes to appear on the multiverse in normal size, since the true celestial bodies of the New Gods are bigger than planets.
4) Outside of animated series or animated movies, Darkseid with his classic avatar always has been depicted enough powerful to walk past the entire Justice League, fight other cosmic forces and destroy universes, not to mention defeat Superman in multiple ocassions (even killing multiple versions of Superman across the multiverse in New 52). However, the common view of Darkseid is that he is some alien that resembles Thanos that Superman constantly beats, despite that in decades of comics, Superman has only officially beaten Darkseid in four ocassions, and all of those fights has an specific context that either amps Superman or Darkseid is weakened (and in fact two famous comic known victories of Superman against Darkseid were in fact Desaad impersonating Darkseid and other one Mr. Mxyzptlk playing games with Clark), but there are around thirteen instances where just like this, Darkseid beats Superman.
My thing is that Dark Seids plan feels unclear to me I dont understand why he doesnt just destroy the multiverse in its entirety if evil was truly his goal. Also why should we care about Darkseid if he's a nuisance that can keep coming back
@@Pellz The goal of Darkseid is to control all will and to be the dominant force, not to destroy the multiverse. Destroying the multiverse is against his agenda, as to why he intervined to stop The Anti-Monitor in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

For World’s Finest 22, it’s impressive and epic that the Earth-One/New Earth/Prime Earth Clark Kent Superman and Bruce Wayne Batman have to battle David Thunderman, Gog, and the entire Kingdom Come superheroes. Also, the Original Superman and Batman learning about Gog’s backstory via Kingdom Come Metron (meaning that this series is now set in the early 70s) and the Kingdom Come Superman and Batman teaming up with them to stop Gog.
For World’s Finest 23, The great things about this comic are the Original Earth-One/New Earth/Prime Earth Superman and Batman convincing Magog to reform with help from their Kingdom Come counterparts, Gog explaining his backstory and why he made Magog his disciple, Magog turning back on Gog after learning the truth and recruiting all the heroes of the Kingdom Come universe to aid him and help Superman and Batman, and the final page revealing Darkseid planning to use the Anti-Life Equation to take over the Kingdom Come universe. Let’s hope that the next issue will be a great one.
For World’s Finest 24, the great things about this comic are the Earth-One/New Earth/Prime Earth Superman and Batman (and other heroes) trying to defeat Darkseid before Darkseid left after witnessing David kill Gog and Batman telling Superman that every world needs a Superman. Even though the battle is over, I know that the Earth-One/New Earth/Prime Earth Superman and Batman and the Kingdom Come heroes tell David that the consequences are dire for it to happen and that he became a weapon instead of a hero. At least when the Kingdom Come Spectre shows up, he tells the Earth-One/New Earth/Prime Earth Superman and Batman what happened to David (i.e. Kingdom Come) before they told David decades in the future to try and be better, which results in David taking Superman’s advice to become a better person. Also, final page showing Magog’s future becoming a bright one.
What is this ? A description of the issues?

And again, it's basically like if Magog walked into Gog's house while he was sleeping, and then blasted him in the face. He had no way to defend himself. Do what you gotta do to save the world, sure. But don't ask people to then have them carry you on their shoulders through the streets for a job well done.

Replace 'normal guy in his house' with 'the big H man from WW II Germany in his house', and you would get a few parades no matter HOW you killed him.
Add saving the multiverse from Darkseid using the anti-life equation, and you would get a hundred more parades. (Not all at once of course)
David was born on an Earth where killing one evil person to save millions is heroic. An Earth not in the DC multiverse. Its not his fault DC heroes have morality so saintly warped to fit editor logic, because villains are profitable thus shouldn't be killed off.
John GL and WW have done things like this in the past, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Buddy, that's the most morally parade worthy assassination one can imagine, and what David did wasn't even DOING an assassination!! Gog was already about to die no matter what from Darkseid's extraction. He just killed him before Darkseid could touch him to save the entire multiverse.

And at the end of the day, I'm right. Because David's thinking leads to him eventually causing Captain Atom to be ripped in half and then nuking the Midwest of America in the future.

Except the ending, when we learn that Superman and Batman basically doomed a timeline to mass death by driving a man into isolation-induced insanity by making David, who saved the multiverse, feel like he was garbage and irredeemable then left without, creating Magog the antagonist AND the Kingdom come hero civil war.
Bruce never learns and now he got superman acting like that
So I watched your Full Story video on Kingdom Come since I've never read the original and I gotta say, I like this ending more. Magog gets to redeem himself and become a true hero.
David was already a hero for killing Gog.
Gog was going to die anyway at Darkseid's hands and Darkseid was invulnerable to even 2 Supermen. David saved the multiverse from Darkseid using the anti-life equation by killing Gog.
If John Green Lantern was there instead of Batman and a very out of character Superman, he would of made sure David was known as a hero who made a tough call in a no win scenarior, and David would of never went insane and become the hard to reason with antagonist Magog. John's done similar decisions in the past and didnt become a villain.
Batman and Superman roasted David over the coals and made him feel like trash until he went insane, and thus caused the Kingdom Come Hero Civil War.
The art in this comic is absolutely amazing. Some of the best I've seen recently, without a doubt 💯
He did the right thing, even if they're ungrateful. It's not about being good, it's about giving others the chance to be. That's the difference between right & good. Having that chance.

David made the right choice killing Gog. Wonder Woman and John GL would have and have done the same thing.
Instead Batman and Superman made David feel SO worthless, they made him go insane and become the antagonist Magog, thus Batman and Superman causing the Kingdom Come Hero Civil War.
It's so foolish that these writers make Batman throw a batarang and hit Etrigan the demon in the eye. Like how slow is this godly demon? Batman able to flip Supergirl over like a ragdoll. Come on writers. So freak'n dumb.

I have read Batman first knight and it’s great if you can start that series please do and what is taking so long for the last issue of Batman beyond Neo Gotham to come out I really want it to finish the story. No idea, bad writing I guess. If John Green Lantern did it nobody but Batman would of complained cause he's done similar things in the past.
Also, Parademons cant normally be turned back into normal mortals, so Batman usually writes them off as dead.

Nah them other heroes are tripping, definitely with David on this one everybody wanted to take the most risky way that didn't have any guarantees, and then also talk down to him for it. It's okay that YOU have a no-kill rule but imposing that rule on every other being is preachy and obnoxious. Now going along with the story of David there are times that he has gone too far in the moment but this one was not it in the slightest

Look, I'm one of those people who insist that an intrinsic part of a SUPER-hero is a no-killing rule.
But if there's ever an exception to that rule, it's in the face of an apocalyptic scenario.
And Magog averted a universal apocalypse by taking one life. The life of a really bad guy. A really, really bad guy. A bad guy who, if Magog hadn't killed him, would have died when Darkseid extracted the Anti-Life Equation out of him, dooming the universe to eternal slavery and so forth and so on.
Pretty much the same scenario that Batman and Superman were faced with in...Final Crisis? Was that it? When Batman went back in time and Supes went AAAAA and Darkseid's soul went "a'ight I'm out, Kal-El is yelling at me"?

KC Gog is a human meta and occultist named William, he just altered himself after accumulating a great deal of power similar to a god.
Earth 0 Gog is an Old god, no relation ro Mongul, and he isn't even in this story.

Though I don’t blame you for being confused, I was as well for a bit, that moment with KC Batman and Superman at that gravesite and then Superman’s back in his classic suit and whatnot threw me off until the end

David destroyed his body completely, meaning that knowledge was lost, so Darkseid, an extremely patient villain, simply moved on to scour the multiverse for a different source to find the anti-life equation.

Darkseid is only that strong in his own dimension. No unaltered version of Darkseid can fight two Supermen without getting knocked back a lot.
@@9751matt Actually, it is accurate writing, and most versions of Darkseid in comics has always beaten Superman instead of the other way around outside animated movies that resembles Darkseid wrongly. Is just that the multiple winnings of Darkseid are finally getting noticed, instead of the only three of four times that a Superman with context could get the upper hand over Darkseid in 50 years of comics.
@@LevTark Darkseid has always been stronger overall, but the idea of Darkseid being completely IMMUNE to 2 Supermen punching him is ludicrous. Able to take some punches and dish more back, certainly, but they made 2 Supermen look like gnats to base Darkseid. Unless both Supermen are significantly weakened, that's not going to happen.. Darkseid could possibly beat two Supermen, but they'd make him work for it.

I know Gog and Magog 'look' like Asgardian gods, they really do, but this isnt a DC/Marvel crossover.
I consider this comic non-canon because the original kingdom come story cant be topped, and also gog didn't exist in kingdom come it was magog DC can't even keep up with there own canon.

He didn't do it to save himself, he did it to save millions of other people. This guy was it just an innocent guy that he killed, I think this guy could be rightly referred to as a criminal. And the very fact that he opened the portal, it's only justice that he die. The more I think about it, the more pissed off I am at the stupid ass with that says nobody can ever die even if you're fucking guilty. That's what justice is. Justice is dying for what you do, not letting other people die for your own mistakes.

Their sanctamonius ฿$ about refusing to permanently take down murderers is why people keep dying to their enemies. It's the one thing I can't stand about Super-hero comics. Far prefer Blade, and those like him, because they understand that many villains just can't be redeemed.
This is an interesting read....I grew up reading Kingdom Come but I never thought I'd live long enough to witness the tie in with the story itself....
