  • To kick off the revamp of my channel I decided to do a little Dronecycling. I had a broken DJI Phantom 3 laying around and pulled off the motors to make a 9 inch flying Frankenquad. It still needs a lot of tuning but Im pretty happy with the results!

    You should swap all the components from the DJI fpv to a carbon fiber frame that would be something

      I'm about to build one...
      I'm thinking 5" props with steep pitch with 6s power.
      Might have to dial motors back to 85-90% but it should have torque for days.
      (This is intuition, not math skills. If a math guy can tell me otherwise I'll listen.)

    I'm currently trying to do the same thing, but with a Phantom 2 housing and motors, i also want to 3D print a fake gimbal as well, so it'll look authentic, but the "gimbal" will be housing an FPV camera. I'll also get a FlySky FS I6S rc, because it kinda looks like the one that comes with the Phantom

    What the bolt pattern on the motors? 19x19?

    I tried this and it flys longer than 1hour on 21700cells. And the prop explode mid air when I try acro moves

    Awesome! We all have broken and crashed drones sitting around for parts, might as well build something fun. I do have a couple beaters that have broken shells and misc issues thought about picking up a couple 4" or 5" frames and throw the guts on there just to make a backyard basher it'd be fun

    Cool... I also had one of these, same motors with 1055 propeller, awesome long range!

    How do you like it? Worth the effort? What about punch how does it feels? And flight time with dji p3 batteries?

      I don't know if it's really worth the effort. I can't really get it tuned to fly real well. With a 1500 4s lipo it has great punch and it's really quiet but with the P3 batteries it has alot of sag. I get about 15min flight with the P3 batteries.

    Could they work good on an fpv wing?

    • @kellywilliams5340
      @kellywilliams5340  3 года назад

      I think they would work great for a fixed wing! They seem to be super efficient! Unfortunately it would have to be a tractor prop and not a pusher style of fixed wing. A twin with these could be a super long range aircraft. Might be my next project with them.
