    As a Commanders fan, let me tell you...a lot of us think you stole him from us. He was worth more than those pick swaps. He got a raw deal having to play behind our wet paper bag of an offensive line.

    Washington fan here. You guys got a heck of deal on Howell. He is a tremendous competitor. Washington never gave this kid a realistic situation to grow and thrive in. Yeah, he had some growing pains in his 1st year, but the expectations he was required to meet were darn near impossible for anyone to overcome; especially with the horrific play-calling, the worst line in the league and no defense to stop people. Again, not saying he didn't make mistakes and needs some improvement in some areas of his game, but our new coaching and front office want to take the easy street and just draft their guy. Heaven forbid, we keep a 2nd talented youngster here. They just don't want real competition I guess, but I digress.
    Depending who each team gets with the picks traded will ultimately determine how much of win it was for either side. I hope you guys spend more time on player development than we did. Best of luck to Sam and his opportunity in Seattle. I think you guys got a good one.

    Hawks just got a young starting quality QB (who doesn't have to start right away) with 18 games of NFL experience for a 5th round pick. He's smart, tough, makes good decisions, has a strong arm, can make all of the throws, and isn't afraid to run if necessary. And he's cheaper than Drew Locke. So, what's not to like? Value, value, value.

    I love the move. If the draft doesn't fall your way to trade back into the second round to get a shot at a top 6 QB in the class and rebuild the one of the interior lines with your first pick, you at least have an insurance plan at QB. That was smart. Other teams apparently thought so too, as they also tried to nab him according to J S.

  • @trxe420
    @trxe420 4 месяца назад +1

    I like it, your analysis is pretty spot on imo except for the trade value. It's more that we got him for about a 5th round pick, not 7th. I agree though I think that John really wants to trade back into the end of the first to get another second, and maybe trade up into the 3rd). If we do that it is not likely that a QB they value would be there, maybe Penix slips, but I doubt it. So with that in mind someone like Howell would be a less risky, higher value investment than someone like Milton in the 5th. The only part I do not like is giving up the 3rd, but hopefully we can get that back.

    @user-nm4sz8xy1d 4 месяца назад +1

    Given the historical poor success rate of drafting QBs in the first 2 rounds, and the fact that Howell is cheaper, younger than most QBs in this draft, and you don’t have to spend limited draft capital on a back up player that may not even make the roster, this was a great signing. Good coaching will reduce INTs and I think fans will soon be crying for Howell to start over Geno, just like they did with Locke. It’s too early for me to go that far, but that’s what Seahawks fans do. Suddenly, this draft approach for the Seahawks is becoming pretty clear.

    I was thinking about the sam howell trade i can see Schneider copying what he did 2012 with the signing of matt flynn than in the draft grabbing russell wilson. So i did a mock. This was based off BPA but with intention of grabbing Spencer rattler but i went to plan B.
    I traded back with tampa.
    They got 16 for 26,57, 92
    Than traded to det
    29 and 2025 3rd for 26
    Than traded with tenn
    38, 182 for 29
    I selected
    38 Cooper beebe OG kansas st
    57 junior colson LB Michigan
    81 Jalen McMillan WR UW
    92 Jordan travis QB FSU
    102 Jordan Bullard S Georgia
    118 Maason Smith DL LSU
    179 Erick all TE iowa
    182 Hunter nourzad C penn st
    192 zion tupola-fetui DE UW
    235 prince pines OG tulane.
    I traded back because i wanted extra picks so seattle can get deeper. I feel grubb would want a strong, deep oline so seattle can run at will but also pass the ball also. So cooper beebe was one of 3 i felt would help seattle get better at the oline, junior colson is a linebacker i was gunning for. I took McMillian to replace lockett and thought that jalen knows the system grubb employs. Even though rattler was the qb i wanted i picked travis because if not for his injury he would be a second rounder. And if travis is better than originally thought geno or howell could give seattle some value in the next draft. With howell being there seattle can be patient with travis and let him heal. Have it his redshirt year. Bullard and smith is BPA plus with need. I took into account of free agency and yes seattle has decent players but depth is good and i want to get it to what happened in 2012.

    Seattle fans need to turn out bigtime to see your new future in spring practice! Sam Howell is a whole lot better than you might think! After watching him you will begin to see what John S. sees. Sam has all the tools, from a cannon for an arm, to better than average running skills!! He is smart and will give Seattle everything he's got! There is no Quit in him. He has seen the worse that football has to offer, having a terrible O-Line and a subpar O.C. to deal with. Day after day facing team defenses that had no fear of the run, being forced to throw into tight coverages because his receivers could not get open in two seconds or less and having to run for his life! He is a tough individual or he would not have finished the entire season ! E.B. did not Have the ability to enhance his players strengths, he actually took them away trying to force a flawed system to work. With all that working against him, Sam still threw three touchdowns in the game against Seattle last season. Hmm? Maybe we ought to give him a chance, don't you think?? I haven't heard anything about him replacing Geno, the only thing I ask is to give him a fair chance to compete for the job! Have you seen him throw a long ball? if Seattle's offense features that, the fans are in for a treat! No matter who starts for Seattle I hope they get to play behind a solid O-LINE. That is a must! Good luck Seattle! POMO ( east coast Sam Howell fan!)
