Reminds me in the original where Leon approaches him and says what do you plan on doing restoring umbrella? Then Krauser responds to bring order and balance into this insane world of ours! Leon isn’t convinced a psycho like you can’t bring order or balance. Krauser laughs it off you don’t think a conservative mind can charge a new course for the world. I always loved how that got me thinking Krauser really was done fighting for others and it showed who he really was.
CAPCOM did Krauser some justice here. not just his mutated form, but his dialogue tells a much more horrifying story than in the original RE4. he's not 100% insane, but blinded by the influence Los Illuminados has given him. even under this layer of blind fury, he still remembers Leon's potential, and the first things he taught him. I did find serenity in his last lines though as he accepts his defeat. he still takes pride in how well he trained Leon.
I absolutely love the new Krauser. He's no longer motivated by petty jealousy, rather; he was a hardass but honorable special ops soldier betrayed by his own government. Left to die against bio-weapons that nearly killed him. In his tent he has all the dog tags of his fallen unit on display, showing he genuinely cared for his people. His goal in attaining power is so that it could never happen to him again. It's tragic, he's the traumatized veteran with nothing to lose, so he says 'fuck it' and carves out a chunk of that power for himself. But in the end, Leon was trained by the man who fought for what was right. Krauser went back to his original self in his final moments, and indeed taught Leon a final, but harsh lesson. Sometimes you do what you have to, even when you don't want to. You can't save everyone, and you either pull the trigger, or you die. Krauser could have tried to kill Leon still; scream and writhe around while cursing him like the original. But no, he accepted his loss with honor, and conceded to one noble fragment of himself that he left in this world, Leon. I can't wait to play as this guy in Mercenaries mode. And IF that theory from the original is true about his mission results screen where he escaped the exploding island translates over? I'd love to see him return.
@@accbcell Yes it's in the remake but it's not really a scene, during gameplay you have to pass through the tent when you're making your way to Krauser to confront him for the second time. If you explore the interior of the tent (the one with all the gurneys aligned), you'll find a table with two metal boxes and some papers, just next to them are the dog tags. If you explore it as well there are many more details which highlight how he's a traumatised veteran.
