Janko, the 981 Spyder and 718 Spyder have the same torque at 310 ft/lb. Does that mean the pull or acceleration, will be the same between the two cars?
No, you have to look in to the gear ratio to compare the mathematics. The biggest differences between the 981 and 982 Spyder will be the handling. Great video!!. I have just subscribed to your channel!!. Which one you prefer, the 718 spyder vs 981 spyder?. Even though the weight increase and lack of noise?. Would like to know your thoughts.thanks
I made the choice for the 981 this year. The 981 Spyder sounds so much better and emotional which is more important to me in such a car than few seconds less on the racetrack. It is the ultimate fun tool to enjoy!
@@Dathumm im about to buy a 981 spyder but on the second hand market these are keeeping very good value, besides the 718 spyder after having the option of the pdk and not limited production im not so sure if it will keep its value as good as the old one. To me the noise of a car in a sports car is very important and having to fit an aftermarket one. Kind of ruins the experience. I guess its my personal choice
@@perdomus It is a personal choice indeed. I would have not been happy with the sound of the 718, sound means a lot to me when driving an car without roof. On the other hand I don't want to modify my car as it would not been legal after that anymore. Of course as an owner I hope that the value will hold well of the 981 as there have been much less produced but I think prices would have dropped already with the 718 being on the market since some time now and still nothing happened.
@@perdomus In the end I can only recommend the 981. Especially the sound is a pure joy that we will never get again. I have had so many people with me in the car already who just could not believe how awesome it sounds.
Thank you both for sharing in our community. I'm as expected pro the 718 Spyder, it wins over the 981 in every category except for mentioned sound wish is and easy fix with Cargrphic. Never the less there is a Porsche for everybody and you will always be in heaven regardless wish selection you make.
LOL, Janko, that was a good one ! Ok, i´m an old guy but not too old to enter my 912E. It was more to heat up ironicly again the discussion about the seats in the german spyder community. Go on with what you´re doing. We appreciate it !!
A 4-cyl engine will be closer to the Porsche History. You could buy a 911 with a flat 6. I do accept the falt 6 in the Spyder GT4 but on a regular Boxster and a Cayman its more like "I could not afford a 911 syndrome". A base 718 Cayman T with the modification I have done is a true drivers car and that car I would chose before the 981 Spyder.
@@JankoLind Disagree, the Spyder with its awesome flat 6 is so much more emotional than the 4 cylinder 718. Who cares about few seconds less on a racetrack where a Spyder is certainly not at home?
Hi CFI Marco, I understand what you mean If you use your car more in your daily life that more convenient. Thanks for watching and if you are not already please subscribe.
Great review. I just can’t seem to wrap my mind or ears around this engine. The car itself is brilliant. I just wish they stuck with a 6, instead of a t-4.
Recommend a 718 drive the torque piles on at 1900 and pull hard to 4K. After break in I am looking forward to pulling to 7k At 3k the push is hard into the seat. I did like the high reving 6, but it was flat under 4K
Are you seriously excited because you can manually close your soft top manually on a 100K$ car? LOL ! Congrats Porsche on making us totally blind and stupid!
As I’m sure you know, weight savings is a part of the design concept and 22 pounds is significant. It’s one of the few convertibles that look as good with the top up as they do with the top down.
This car is nearly completely useless as a convertible. That roof will stay on after you have gone the pain of operating it a couple of times and getting stuck in the rain, highway, strong wind, etc. The roof procedure is just laughable. It's a good idea on paper but a failure in practice. Hence, getting the GT4 is a better choice if you absolutely like this series.

really amazing review =)
Thank you neohimself, please continue to watch my channel.
Great video. Tell us about your watch please.
Not pushing you but perhaps follow me at twitter? ;-)
Is this currently in production?
No, it's not, but the 718 Spyder is under development if you believe all spy photos. Thanks for watching.
Want one bad. I'll have one sometime I'm sure.
It is a beautiful car 🚗
Thanks for watching and subscribing
Janko, i can agree to all of what you said, but with the seats, i disagree, or better said: Come to my age ! :-)
Hi Hermann Renz, I understand your point of view. I guess I will come one day to your age...
LOL, Janko, that was a good one ! Ok, i´m an old guy but not too old to enter my 912E. It was more to heat up ironicly again the discussion about the seats in the german spyder community.
Go on with what you´re doing. We appreciate it !!
The LWB seats are the highlight of the cars interior, a visual work of art! I find them comfortable as well.
Nice video👍🇦🇺
Thanks nice to get greetings from Australia 🇦🇺👋🇸🇪
Hey Janko, could you please tell us your opinion about the new Porsche 992.1 ? Maybe mention it in one of the next Videos :)
Hi Phillip, Thanks for your tip, I'm looking into your request. Thank you for watching my channel.
Is the color Guards Red?
skynetsworld 100% Guards Red 👍🏽.
@@chrislaracuente2175 thanks :)
Thanks Chris helping me answering the question. 👍
My pleasure gentlemen. #ForeverPorsche 💪🏽
Love it what a beauty!
yes it is.
This is basically a convertible GT4 (981) right?
+Danimal Planet No, the GT4 has the front axle from the 991.1 GT3. Also the steering is different iirc.
000GunterGabriel000 is right, I would say a more developed 981 Boxster, but what a development.
What!!! You mean you wouldn't rather a 6 cylinder gt3 engine???
How much Porsche payed for this infomercial
Nothing
Did u watch the video? Plenty of negatives and positives, all constructive.
How much did BMW pay you to post this?
I would think the guy in this video either dont get out much or was not hugged enough as a kid
I like better taking down the roof of my 981S within 10 seconds while driving at 50km/h
Hi CFI Marco, I understand what you mean If you use your car more in your daily life that more convenient. Thanks for watching and if you are not already please subscribe.
I like dropping my 718s top at a light.
Max Martz I like dropping my 981 Spyder at train crossings🤓
Great review. I just can’t seem to wrap my mind or ears around this engine. The car itself is brilliant. I just wish they stuck with a 6, instead of a t-4.
This is the 981 with the 3.8L 6.
This is the 981 Spyder not the 718 which will be released soon. It has a 6cyl 3.8L detuned GT4 motor from my understanding. 375hp
Sure, I am seriously excited, an auto top is boring!
Intro
I too like bl bl bl bl bl bl blubs.
Yes the engine gives pleasure not only when you push the throttle.
