Jack Black is one of the few actors who seems exactly the same off screen as he does on screen. Just an average guy who likes to have fun and make people smile. He seems like a cool buddy you could just casually chill with. If I saw him on the street, I probably wouldn't even ask him for his autograph.
I got to meet Jack a few years back and I was nervous to approach him, but he saw me coming, reached out his hand, said "come here bud" and pulled me in to let me take a selfie. At that same event he worked as a coat-checker for the venue for an hour, and charmed everyone's pants off. It was the polar opposite of dissapointment

I saw Jack Black at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
First of all, Conan is really playing so respect, second, he’s playing a slash edition les Paul which is awesome

What made it sound that way was Jack Black only playing chords. Playing single string, particularly Flamenco, would make for a fine match against an electric guitar.

Yea. Standard guitar showdown setup. Les Paul vs out of tune acoustic plugged in to nothing and maybe being picked up on overhead mics? I know it's part of the joke, but it would have been cool if Jack played for real and Conan played his first couple riffs like he did and they were pretty close. THEN you have Slash start in and run away with it, pull back the curtain, etc. Just not 100% sure why they gave JB such a goofy setup.

Guys, for anyone who wants to know, Conan actually played the first two solos, his guitar is plugged in wirelessly and you can see at 2:13 when he slides his hand on the fretboard the guitar makes a slide like sound, indicating the guitar is playing what you’re hearing, and for the last solo slash is playing since you can obviously hear the effect change it’s obvious that they just switched a setting turning conans amp off and slash’s on.
