I only wish you had showed what it sounded like when you tried to start it before replacing the starter. But my nephews ltz400 is doing the same thing and now I know what the fix is (have already bought and received the part) and no exactly how to fix it. So I (and my nephew) appreciate the vid brotha!
Love the video! I think the starter motor on my ltz 400 2005 might be broken but sometimes it works if i press the start button many times. I changed the starter relay (solenoid) on it yesterday but it still wont start, it only makes a ticking noise. Battery reads 13,84 volts so that should be fine too. I also cleaned all the ends of the cabels with sand paper thinking that it would help since they were all dirty. So the question is do you think its my starter motor? -Greetings from Norway
I just pulled mine out on a Ltz 250. The starter is good but it was stuck because the teeth on the flywheel inside are broken. How hard is it to change that gear (flywheel) ?

Not hard. You will need a special tool (flywheel puller) to take off the flywheel. then the gear is right there.
@@ScottMyers5189 thanks. So it’s not actual flywheel that the starter engages to. It’s another gear?

My ltz400 will only start if I have jumper cables ran to the starter do you know what could be wrong ?
