and then spends 15 cents to buy 2 keys with Mom's Key plus the added bonus of chests being better (the 2 wild chests you might encounter if you're lucky in a greed mode run)
Mystic not really, he would make the argument most would the first floor is a logical exception because the difficulty compared to power you can expect. Also You can easily find 4+ chests per run in Greed mode between secret rooms and them in the shop
"This proves that not buying keys is the right idea" Um no, this proves that if you don't get a key (naturally or from an item) you SHOULD buy one, so that way you can get an amazing item like Polythemus or Bloody Lust. Egg logic at its finest
Aaron Bennett he thinks he gets more value if he spends 15 cents on an item of his choice (but not really because there has to be a reroll machine) rather than spending 5 cents on a key for a guaranteed item for 10 cents less than a shop item
1 an exceptionally good room does not disprove the idea, by that logic going in a cursed room as the lost before Afterbirth right before fighting Mom is a great idea if you luck out and got Dead Cat... 2 the first floor is a logical exception because the difficulty compared to later floors if you lack items. Two okay items in the Basement is better than 1 okay item the entire floor until the boss fights.
There is no logic to it. You're getting an item for 5c instead of 15c. The items seem more weighted in the room as well. Not buying keys for cheap items is the dumbest shit he does lately.
But it's not completely an outlier. Between the treasure room items in this episode and past ones like the Lost run where he got Pyromaniac on the first floor, he should have figured out that it's a little more than just luck. The shop pool in Greed mode has a lot of utility, but does not compare to the DPS and run-busting items you can get out of the treasure pool.
Very First Question while I agree that its retarded, if you were in eggys place and had the same mindset and it worked out twice for you then you'd only be reassured that its the RIGHT decision!
And also the fact that he bought several keys. He just gets a meme in his head and it becomes dogma, even though his actions and the evidence point in the opposite direction. Not actually a thoughtful person. He's still entertaining.
Mod idea: Chest of secrets Space bar item. No charge. Description: What's inside? Basically a chest you can use it anywhere you like, but it cost keys.
Talks about how not buying keys is a good meta, buys a key and gets Polyphemus. Then he buys Mom's Key, which is basically just two more expensive keys in greed mode since chests rarely ever spawn. Fantastic logic all around.
Even if you argue that 15 cents for a choice is better than 5 cents for not being able to choose, WHY does this egg apply this logic to Apollyon? Even a shit item in Item Room will at least be essentially a stats upgrade thanks to his spacebar item. And he'd buy stat upgrades for 15 cents anyway ..
First floor there is reason to buy a key, like has been the case since the mode existed it is the most difficult floor due to starting underpowered. Buying a key makes sense because it is not an option to get an extra item from the shop beforehand.
kingknotts You seem to be really defending this "don't buy a key metta". The idea that buying items for 15 cents is superior is somewhat flawed, due to the idea that you could easily key splurge at the end of a floor instead of spending coins on re-rolls. Like what this roll says, the items can be very veritible, from anything like 20/20 and Magic Mush, to a pile of mostly useless trash. However, this is 5 cents you pay per floor to grasp an item that'd take 3 times the price. Money's stingy and you won't get too many items in the run. 25 cents gets you 5 items, which is likely to easily pay off in the long term because it's *5* items.
@@TheEeveeKing he literally would see the shop items, not want any of them for 15 cents and instead refuse to buy the 5 cent key to see the item room No key meta does not make any fucking sense whatsoever lmao
Dear God, how much longer do we have to hear this egg talk about his nonsensical idea that buying keys is a waste of money? And then he buys X-Ray Vision and doesn't even check the item rooms for secret rooms?
Thats not wasting money. There is no guarantee the next floor will have a reroll machine. Thus rerolling has benefits still because it changes the whole store.
*reads comments* And that's why this episode is titled "Ignore". As in "ignore every piece of advice I say in this video, because I love beating a joke into the ground".
Why didn't he buy D20 tho? He had more than a dozen pennies coming, Mom's Key and a handful of batteries in another room, could've created himself at least enough money to buy something awesome and a good trinket... #itsnevertoolate
I've not been playing that long (Under 150 hours total), but I know there's a couple of truths about Greedmode. 1. You're going to buy a key every floor. 5 cents for a item that would otherwise cost 15 cents (or rarely, 7 cents) is a no-brainer, regardless of what the item is. The pool of items that are usable or at least acceptable is far larger than the pool of items that actively kill you, unless you're playing as the Lost, Keeper, or Blue Baby. Even then, it's a safe gamble. 2. You want to try and avoid picking up money during the waves if possible, on the off-chance you find a Jera rune, Counterfeit penny, Contract from below, or the like. The possible payout of doubling your money for the floor pays for the hassle, unless you die of course. 3. Luck is basically worthless, unless you get something like Gimpy. Chests and other drops basically don't appear, or if they do it's only in rare circumstance. 4. The Curse room is for consumables, not items. Guppy or red chests will never appear in it. 5. If you have bombs, use it to try for the secret room. It can only appear in three different places (The far wall of both item rooms, or the far left wall in the shop). Whether it has money, chests, or even a single gold poo, it's way more worth your time than the two shopkeepers.
NL buying keys is worth more. Because you're essentially buying 1 random item for 15 cents (given the logic that shop items are still random) or 3 random items for 15 cents. So its worth more to buy keys than to buy items except in situations where an item in the shop would win you the run or otherwise be the more desireable than any 3 items that are likely to show up.
NL: Reconsider your total ignorance of Placebo (pill mimic) with Void. If you get 48 hour energy, it means that Void becomes an infinite-use spacebar item.
NL you need to understand that items in the silver item room are average or below. The ones are in the shop name slightly above average and below. THE ITEMS IN THE GOLD ITEM ROOM ARE GOOD
I was cleaning my house n listening to NL but I sorta zoned out and didn’t know what was going on bc I wasn’t watching t intently but somehow I knew it was a dub bc of the vocal masterpiece that is northernlion
'I can use Ace of Heart to hopefully stop greed from healing of a miniscule amount of dropped coins.' 'Or I can pick up the d20 and just win' Oh Egg, you wouldn't be yourself if you went with the latter.
I feel like the only one who likes his, don't buy keys strat. Assuming you can get one consumable granting item it can save you money in spades later on. that is to say don't ignore an item room and do buy a key if you haven't gotten to it by the end of the floor, but still.
NL you should have used void on the placebo from the womb shop!! With Appolyon I had high damage from ipacec and magic mush (and more I can't remember the buffs) then placebo in my void with a 48 hour energy pill and the double item charge battery (which let the pill charge the void charge instantly rather than just drop batteries). With rotten baby and cube of meat, the box of friends in my void along with guppies head was gamebreakinig. Just wanted to show the power of the void placebo + 24 hour energy!!
I think the real ace of hearts play would have been to intentionally get hit to drop all of your coins (you had over 20) then pop the card to litter the field with hearts. Could have put you in red heart range but serpents kiss and fake wafer would have mitigated it a lot.
13 tears and 60 damage. 13 tears is less than 1.5 times slower than base tears. 60 damage is like 12-15 times more than base damage (depending on character). Like 10 times base DPS. When you phrase it that way, it's not that amazing.
YO everyone, serious question. i may have thought of new meta. If NL succd the hp upgrade in the very beginning would't that mean every time he succs he would gain hp?
NL on not buying keys: "If we succeed here, it just goes to prove that our methodology is sound!" No it fucking doesn't, Ryan, this strat is actually terrible and it's probably responsible for most of your losses since you've started trying it, I honestly don't understand why you think this is a good idea I love you a lot but seriously You're overcomplicating this to the extreme #BuyFuckingKeysEgg
first three item rooms: polyphemus, magic mush and bloody lust... and the egg still believes buying keys is not a good idea :o he's lucky he's getting keys from other sources!
Continues talking about not buying keys.... smh fml lol The first two key rooms this run were POLYPHEMUS and MAGIC MUSH. That's why you buy / acquire keys at all costs. They won't always be winners. But three 5cent items are likely >>> one 15cent item of choosing + reroll costs. It seems an easy choice to me... But then again I haven't played AB+ since it screwed me on the Ultra Hard challenge 2 weeks ago.
Ok.... at the end of the floor stop re-rolling the items. It's a complete waste of money, go down to the next floor first, then see what the new shop has.
GODDAMMIT EGG YOU'RE GONNA DRIVE ME INSANE! You had Mom's key, 4 charges laying around and you DIDN'T PICK THE D20? YOU COULD'VE BROKE THE GAME JEEBUS CHRIST!
Buys a key and opens the item room to find Polyphemus. "Buying keys is a bad idea" Buys two more keys to make a good profit "Don't try that at home"
Ethan Ordorica And then he brags that his strat of not buying keys is genius -_-
and then spends 15 cents to buy 2 keys with Mom's Key plus the added bonus of chests being better (the 2 wild chests you might encounter if you're lucky in a greed mode run)
Ethan Ordorica and then gets magic mush next item room
ikr, he literally just proved his no buying keys method to be stupid within the first minute of a video
Mystic not really, he would make the argument most would the first floor is a logical exception because the difficulty compared to power you can expect.
Also You can easily find 4+ chests per run in Greed mode between secret rooms and them in the shop

philski217 and also dont reroll 3 cent keys.
Im protesting these greed mode videos until he stops that stupid key meta
Edward Calderon same
omg...He still THINKS not buying keys is a smart idea...
Very First Question yet he keeps buying keys anyways
Very First Question can you tell me why it isn't a good idea?
Aaron Bennett he thinks he gets more value if he spends 15 cents on an item of his choice (but not really because there has to be a reroll machine) rather than spending 5 cents on a key for a guaranteed item for 10 cents less than a shop item
It's 5 cents for an item. There's no reason not to pay 5 cents for an item.
The first minute of the video should answer that.
You get Polyphemus out of your first item room and you still think not buying keys is actually a good idea?
1 an exceptionally good room does not disprove the idea, by that logic going in a cursed room as the lost before Afterbirth right before fighting Mom is a great idea if you luck out and got Dead Cat... 2 the first floor is a logical exception because the difficulty compared to later floors if you lack items. There is no logic to it. You're getting an item for 5c instead of 15c. The items seem more weighted in the room as well.
Not buying keys for cheap items is the dumbest shit he does lately.
1 run where you get carried because you bought a key, and 1 run where you did fine despite not buying keys, doesnt prove the idea
Hating how he kept getting 1 million keys in every greed game he played after he decided not buying keys in greed mode =_=
I know it' leading him to believe not buying keys meta is okay WHICH IT IS NOT NL!
WHAT IS THE REAL EPISODE 43 MY LIFE IS A LIE
krandomk this one is technically 44
Mod idea: Chest of secrets
Space bar item. No charge.
Description: What's inside?
Basically a chest you can use it anywhere you like, but it cost keys.
Morty MCDonald's golden key? paper clip?
I would assume it would work like a key beggar: doesn't matter if you have golden key or paperclip
Morty MCDonald's I like it. Seems like a good pickup when you have too many keys at the end of the game but nothing to spend them on.
I like the idea but maybe instead of keys it should have a three or four room charge. What do you think?
AELGamer the difference between "golden chest of secrets" and regular "chest of secrets"?
He was carried by the item rooms and still thinks that he doesnt need to buy keys...
-3 winstreak in this one
-1 winstreak in the other one
...are neither of these episode 43? What a mindfuck.
He died twice i n the other one
oh
so, buying 2 keys for the chests is okay, but buying them for items is stupid? Egg, please stop it.
ah fuck he's still on about the not buying keys strat
"Not buying keys is really starting to prove itself" Got magic mush and poly from keys.
Thank the game for instantly de-incentivizing his brilliant no-item room strat with those first three items.
Ignore? Okay, like and leaving.
18:58 when you cant fly but dont take any damage on the cursed room.... egg magic
So we should ignore this video and watch the other one instead?
Yes.
Krin Szok save a key
"it proves our methodology is sound! don't buy keys, buy items that give keys!"
you bought a key though.
that was the key that gave you poly.
Talks about how not buying keys is a good meta, buys a key and gets Polyphemus. Then he buys Mom's Key, which is basically just two more expensive keys in greed mode since chests rarely ever spawn. Fantastic logic all around.

>Mfw he has 4 battery charges in the secret room and a D20 in the shop, buys two Aces of Hearts instead. WRYYYYYY

stop paying money for item re-rolls, just go to the next floor ffs. All this BS about no-key meta but you still waste money on shop re-rolls
Thats not wasting money. There is no guarantee the next floor will have a reroll machine. Thus rerolling has benefits still because it changes the whole store.
kingknotts Okay, but half of the time he could easily have used it on the machine and the thing he was blowing up.
Rerolling on first floors is a waste.
But that's not the point. Shop pool is mostly total garbage. Item rooms are far greater.
*reads comments*
And that's why this episode is titled "Ignore". As in "ignore every piece of advice I say in this video, because I love beating a joke into the ground".
"this proves our methodology is sound." YOU GOT POLYPHEMUS FROM AN ITEM ROOM.
wait did you just upload two episode 43s at the same time?
The other one doesn't have the proper icon either
who cares, it's more NL
"I want to suck up blank card, but I can't."
Uhh, you had 21 cents. You absolutely could have bought blank card.
He didn't have a charge on the Void.
Yeeeesss, but later on he says he didn't have the money, not the charges.

"Shows our methodology works" got carried by poliphemus that he found on a treasure room he paid a key for
Egg justifying the key strat on a run where buying a key got him polyphemus
I absolutely love greed and greedier mode. I'd love to see more content of these modes!
"Buying keys are bad" *literally gets polyphemus, magic mushroom, and bloody lust out of the fucking item rooms* wtf NL
Bro i love the consistency of the videos
I've not been playing that long (Under 150 hours total), but I know there's a couple of truths about Greedmode.

"We did really well by not buying Keys." Are you actually FUCKING kidding me.
When he didn't get placebo and his next pill was 48 hour energy...
Lol, that moment where you get the big P and a wave of excitement creeps up you.
Why are there two videos at the same time?
GoldenKingStudio was just thinking the same thing. they appear to be different as well
GoldenKingStudio the tittle is "ignore"
Yeah, but that doesn't mean this is not a real video. This one was a successful run and the other video was not a successful run.
This run would have been a lot different if you tried your no key meta
EGG STILL THINKS THIS KEY NONSENSE IS VIABLE
*_AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA_*
What does the I'm Excited pill do? Does it speed enemies up? Still haven't memorized AB+ stuff yet

*Polyphemus Apollyon:* Mine arn't working...

stupid question, is poly really a dps up?
Yes, yes, and yes.
Thomas Middleton Watch his first rooms and tell me
'I can use Ace of Heart to hopefully stop greed from healing of a miniscule amount of dropped coins.'
'Or I can pick up the d20 and just win'
Oh Egg, you wouldn't be yourself if you went with the latter.
I feel like the only one who likes his, don't buy keys strat. Assuming you can get one consumable granting item it can save you money in spades later on. that is to say don't ignore an item room and do buy a key if you haven't gotten to it by the end of the floor, but still.
I legitimately hate you sometimes for not picking up trinkets even when you don't even have one in your slot yet.
22:10 The fuck are you talking about? The only reason you got Polyphemus was exactly because you bought the key.
When you're fighting ultra greedier, hug the corners. Most of his attacks can't hit you there.
You said you wanted to break the run, the game provided the d20 and you proceeded to not break the run... solid.
ThePkerhide go fucka you self
I think the real ace of hearts play would have been to intentionally get hit to drop all of your coins (you had over 20) then pop the card to litter the field with hearts. Could have put you in red heart range but serpents kiss and fake wafer would have mitigated it a lot.
Yo why didn't he buy the d20 on the shop and break the game???
tigerhappy because he doesn't like breaking the game, since it's time consuming and turns every run into the same run.
What a song at the end!!!
13 tears and 60 damage. 13 tears is less than 1.5 times slower than base tears. 60 damage is like 12-15 times more than base damage (depending on character). Like 10 times base DPS. When you phrase it that way, it's not that amazing.
YOUR METHODOLOGY IS NOT SOUND! YOU JUST GOT VERY LUCKY GETTING KEYDROPS EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME
NL got 4 damage multipliers this run: poly, bloody list, magic mush, and skinny odd mush
What's the problem with not buying keys if he still aces those runs ?
YO everyone, serious question. i may have thought of new meta. If NL succd the hp upgrade in the very beginning would't that mean every time he succs he would gain hp?
I think the first Item Room being Polyphemus completely negates the "no key" policy.
NL, please reconsider key meta. Your first item room, which you bought a key for, gave you Polyphemus.
why did it say comments are disabled when I just watched this and why was episode 44 named 43
NL on not buying keys: "If we succeed here, it just goes to prove that our methodology is sound!"
No it fucking doesn't, Ryan, this strat is actually terrible and it's probably responsible for most of your losses since you've started trying it, I honestly don't understand why you think this is a good idea
I love you a lot but seriously
You're overcomplicating this to the extreme
#BuyFuckingKeysEgg
The Egg has been compromised. I repeat, the Egg has been compromised.
DAE HOLY WATER > POLYTHEMUS?
I love how he dodges the red heart on the shop floor on the last shop. Full hp is for scrubs.
first three item rooms: polyphemus, magic mush and bloody lust... and the egg still believes buying keys is not a good idea :o he's lucky he's getting keys from other sources!
The other 43 was before this.
0:40 in and I'm already upset he didn't wait to by that 3 cent key
Do pyromaniac and bloody lust synergize?
I like how you're using a run in which you went to every item room as a good argument NOT to go to the item rooms...
2 episodes numbered 43?
NL Please. For a discount 7 cent you'll buy almost any bad item from the shop. So why wouldn't buying a 5 cent key for an item be a damn good deal?
Scumegg says not buying keys worked.... I mean it's not like he bought a key for polyphemus or another 2 during the run
Two episode 43's?
I think egg uploaded two videos at the same time because he wants us to "ignore" this one.
wasnt apollyon able to fly?
"I don't even know if you can get curses on greedier" had curse of the unknown last run....
if you ever have peagent boy with The Void , press the space bar and don t take peagent boy
Continues talking about not buying keys.... smh fml lol
The first two key rooms this run were POLYPHEMUS and MAGIC MUSH.
It's a complete waste of money, go down to the next floor first, then see what the new shop has.
...Has void and just takes papa fly. But the STATS man! xD
NL you did it again, x-ray vision doesn't work with polyphemus
L Lawliet
What? X ray vision kept giving him secret rooms
MemerOfTheBorealValley nah, you'r clrearly wrong. Even a fool could understand that this combination doesn't work
did he not check the free item room on the first floor?
GODDAMMIT EGG YOU'RE GONNA DRIVE ME INSANE! You had Mom's key, 4 charges laying around and you DIDN'T PICK THE D20? YOU COULD'VE BROKE THE GAME JEEBUS CHRIST!
Greedier Mode Apollyon sounds interesting.
Hoping for some zaniness.
IT'S YA BOI GUZMA You'll be disappointed
Egg's giving me an existential crisis right now....
Polyphemus, Magic Mush and Bloody Lust in the item room. ARE YOU LISTENING?
No shiny rock? Not a great item, but worth picking up
