- Running on the Rocks was the second single released from Shriekback's Big Night Music album - released in 1986. The song appeared in the Miami Vice episode "Baseballs of Death".
I have owned this album since 87, and it is still one of the all time greats, absolutely incredible.
Absolutely ingenious song. This was one of the songs I would listen to before track meets as a kid. No lyrics better encapsulate the pain of competition than "we're gonna steel up the flesh to the fire, we're gonna find out what the rules are then." In general, this entire album is a masterpiece.

YES. The music, the clothes, the attitude. This was a massive tune for a totally bad ass Miami Vice show.

of “All Lined Up” to the point where the vinyl was too scratched to play it. And Big Night Music remains a favorite album to play while driving at night.

this song was also played during the legendary boat chase, that Sonny Crockett had on Miami Vice. The episode was called Baseballs of Death, great track long live the 80s.
