    These are super helpful! I’m a first year theater teacher and I’m teaching Intro to Theater. I would LOOOVE an overview of what you’ve taught in your Intro class.

      Congrats on your teaching job, Sarah! I’ve actually got a video talking about my lesson plans on my theatre teaching series playlist! Let me know if you have trouble finding it. Are you teaching virtually currently?

    Thank you so much Kala! I’m a first time high school drama teacher and your videos are super helpful. Thanks for putting this up on yt for reference. I’m realizing the first week in a lot of the problems with school budgets and I don’t want to see the arts die. Imagine a future full of only STEM people 🙀

      @@KalasStage I’m subscribed so I’ll be running back to your channel when I see a new one posted! 😊 I do have a question if you don’t mind- do you find balancing work and family life difficult? Being a teacher is already so time and emotionally intensive but I can imagine for music and theater teachers, even more so.. I have two little ones, so that’s the only thing that’s got me a bit nervous. 😵‍💫

    • @KalasStage
      @KalasStage  Год назад +1

      I absolutely find work and life balance difficult. I mostly work 10 hour days when doing a show and 12-15 hour days during tech and show week. I have a 19 month old. When I look back on his pictures from last year, I cry because I missed out on so much with him because I was always working with other people’s children. This year, with my musical, I am balancing it more. If they have vocal rehearsal with our vocal coach, I now go home when I’d usually stay. Same with our choreographer. I am wanting to get an assistant or 2nd theatre teacher in the future to help lighten the load.

      @@KalasStage Wow, thank you so much for sharing your insight. ♥️ I’m glad to hear you’re taking initiative to find balance for you and your baby, it’s so hard. Mine are almost 4 and 6, and still the thought of going back to work full-time makes me feel emotional. Sounds like you are a wonderful mama. Break a leg with your musical!

      Thank you! Also, don’t feel like you have to work for time (if it’s financially feasible for you not to). You could always teach theatre in the mornings as a part time somewhere and have your afternoon & evening for your kids. OR something I’m playing around with is directing a play with my advanced acting class during school day and having that be my fall show next year so it’s not such a huge commitment after school.

      ruclips.net/video/u5lFvv6aIMo/видео.html
      I’ve got a whole teacher playlist with some videos you’re welcome to use with your students. I always start with an ensemble building unit (theatre games) and go into a characterization unit. That’s a short version lol Watch the video I sent, but I’m happy to make more specific ones too! Let me know!
