By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow rest.
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee

venti furiosi scuotono le tenere gemme di maggio
e il corso dell'estate ha vita troppo breve:
talvolta troppo cocente splende l'occhio del cielo
e spesso il suo volto d'oro si rabbuia
e ogni bello talvolta da beltà si stacca,
spoglio dal caso o dal mutevol corso di natura.

né perdere possesso del bello che tu hai;
