    Hey, thanks very much for the new cast for the beginners. I really like a combination of grammar and an opportunity to practice listening simplified Mandarin speech of the second teacher.

    我真的很喜欢Julie和Kitty的性格。太好了!我有个问题:How many times can you use 太 in a sentence? Like at 5:38, Kitty says "冬天太短太热了". Could you theoretically use 太 a bunch of times before the 了?Or is 1-2 times the limit?

    Regarding the phrase 暖化 and 美化, are the two 化 mean the same? Is there any similar word with 化?

    • @christiefromchinesepod5493
      @christiefromchinesepod5493 3 месяца назад

      Yes. Words with the character 化 have the denotation of ‘to become ...’. Other examples are 恶化 to become even worse, 变化 change, 全球化 globalization/to become global.

    Can I say 登上月亮 instead of 登上月球?

    • @christiefromchinesepod5493
      @christiefromchinesepod5493 Месяц назад

      No. 月亮 is used when we talk about the moon we see in the sky, and 月球 is the celestial term. We would say 到月球上 but not 到月亮上.

    • @Betty_ChinesePod
      @Betty_ChinesePod 4 месяца назад

      Yes. Just like 暖化 means ‘to become warm’, 全球化 means ‘to become global’. For example 贸易全球化 trade globalization (the scale of trades are going global).

    • @ChinesePodTV

      Thanks for the compliment C Knight. You're right, 文法 meaning grammar, is more commonly used in Taiwan. In mainland China you will probably hear 语法 more commonly.

    Pre-intermediate? Maybe the expressions being taught are pre-intermediate, but the explanations (98% of the video) are in Mandarin. And that makes the video post-intermediate. I tried for 2 minutes and gave up. I understood almost nothing Kitty said.

    • @tedc9682
      @tedc9682 4 года назад

      @Carly Wen (Chinesepod) My comments were about the first minute or so, which was 95% Mandarin. Julie did not translate Kitty's comments. Julie just replied in English. I watched a little more now: Kitty is explaining things in Mandarin, using words that no lesson has ever taught me. For example at 1:50 Kitty explains something using 33 words. Then Julie says something in English. Then Kitty says 57 words. Is there any place I can learn the vocabulary Kitty is using? Wait, at 1:35 Julie says "tai guo fen le" can mean a big sale. That's news.
      For me, the problem is that Kitty uses so many words I don't know. There are Mandarin sub-titles but no transcript to copy, so looking up each word is a slow process. The video will be very useful once I can understand grammar explanations in Mandarin. The video and teaches are quite good.

    Julie and Kitty are very cute. However, Kitty speak a bit too much Chinese in the video, which can be difficult for pre-intermediate students to understand what she said, as there are no English subtitles for reference while she is speaking Chinese.

    • @ChinesePodTV
      @ChinesePodTV  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Grace, we follow a consistent rubric that illustrates how much Chinese and English should be spoken for lessons of each level. Kitty speaks more Chinese than Julie because she is the teacher, while Julie is the learner. If you find this a little difficult may we suggest that you try an elementary level video? Thanks for watching!
