I love Minsc. He has the best lines. I also like Khalid. During the game I fired a fireball to kill enemies and the radius fell into a black area (not discovered), accidentally killing a bunch of townsfolk that I did not see. Khalid immediately after that said his typical random line: "Gorion would be proud of your actions!" I laughed so hard!
Khalid, man.... kitted him out to the nines with the sword coast gear then loaded up BG2 and cried. He was certainly more useful than Jaheira, who was kind of irritating.
Minsc is the best, in my opinion. Not only brings a lot of flavor to the game and has the best lines, specially when interacting with his miniature giant space hamster ("Go for the eyes, Boo!"), as a character he was very helpful in the game. I was only was able to defeat a Demilich in BG2 because of his Berserk ability.
As a UK miserabilist, I _loathe_ the Hanna Barbera cartoonishness of all the voices, and their lame scripts. For me, the voices are the big weakness of this great game. Disclaimer - my opinions about everything are completely disregardable. All best from Over Here.
@@notreallydavid Yeah agreed with one very important exception of course, David Warner as Jon Irenicus. Might be the best voiceover of any antagonist in any game for me.
@@leonardodosvinci4130 David Warner? Croly hap! Haven't played BG2 - must rectify this. Am not a proper gameist, so I can't make informed comparisons... still, the screenshots and clips I've seen look terrific and wholly undimmed by the passage of centuries since the game's release.
The nostalgia of this series is unreal. I am loving every single one. The tea lights converted into streetlights are amazing. I love how modular everything here is. Being able to build and rebuild a cityscape is awesome.
Honestly, I love Minsc because if you're going to have a one-dimensional personality defined by (and only by) your alignment, you might as well go full ham with it. Also miniature giant space hamsters.
Great to have you back! "Skyrim doesn't hold a candle to Baldur's Gate." How can you be so controversial yet so brave? I have had some of those little lights in my bits box for a while, thanks for the hotwiring inspiration. I liked Viconia. Such a prickly pear.
Great work as always. When it comes to Baldur's Gate Companions I like Viconia. She's a heretic Drow priestess who's still evil and ruthless, but keeps trying not to be. I love this non-default love intrest, cynical, mean lady.
Minsc is one of the greatest because of how funny he is, but I also really like Aerie. She starts off so sweet and innocent, but gradually throughout BG2 and its expansion she grows as a person without losing any of her Goodness.
It's a really hard call on favorite companions but my top picks are probably Minsc, for obvious reasons, but also Sarevok, his possible alignment change at the tail end of Throne of Bhaal just feels like such a good way to book end a good aligned campaign.
That marble effect is so simple and stunning at the same time. Never thought of doing it that way, thanks man. Awesome video. (edit) If you rub a sweater on a balloon and then hover that balloon over the static grass it works in a similar way as an applicator ;-)
Viconia DeVir was my favorite because she was Drow and her portrait was based on a Czech model named Zdenka who I was in love with as a kid, haha also she was the best cleric, loved her disdain for humanity, haha
My FAVORITE. I love Baldurs Gate TOO! I'm 53, I used to call in sick to work so I could play all day LOL. That window on the roof is called a Dormer at least here in Texas. You're capturing the game well.
Honestly this is so beautiful. That shot where you just move through the town, it wasn't even a rush of nostalgia, it was like something I haven't felt in a long time. I felt like a kid again for a second, running down to my grandparents to play baldurs gate after school. Its honestly done so well, the colours are perfect, I dont even know if I could get that feeling from playing the game again because I just cant be in the mind of a kid running through the streets of a fantasy city looking for adventure, but that terrain just did it. Thank you, I deeply enjoy your builds based on classics from DNDs history.
Regarding resistors in LED tea lights, typically there isn't one! If you've ever come across LED "throwies", they work because those lithium coin cells can't supply enough current to actually harm the LED. Typically, you'll get a couple of days to a week of continuous runtime!
I love Tiax, he is so cartoonishly evil, crazy as hell, and hilarious. He is evil, but his confidence in enevitably ruling the word with nothing to back it up, as well as his general adatude, make him my favorite NPC companion.
So happy to see another one of these! As for favourite companion, I have to say Coran. Not the most popular pick, but he’s a fun character and with a good bow in hand he’s as powerful an archer as you can hope to find.
Minsc is my favorite BG companion. He is great in a fight: a superb archer, good melee damage due to his strength, and funny as hell with his comments. He also comes with Dynehir who is an Evoker mage. Lots of fiery death to your enemies.
I've always been a fan of the classic Wyloch music but I felt really sophisticated listening to smooth jazz. Great series always happy to see a new video.
That walk through at the start with the darker room lights and the lit leds looked very nice. Great job man you nailed it. Character wise that's rough, cause a lot of characters were pretty rough in BG1 then became pretty great in BG2. Like Imoen for example. .... For me I think I have to go for Jaheira, she had a lot of growth over the two games and always mage great sense as a party member.
I am not sure exactly WHY you are building Balder's Gate, but you are doing a great job of it, it's all eerily convincing and familiar. Love those street lights too!
I got a new job and moved recently, it's been nearly 6 months since I did any crafting. I'd been missing it, but starting back up can be hard, as you mentioned with that wagon. Your videos are what I use to get pumped up and back into it. I've been going through the backlog here, and I know you've been keeping it up, but keep up the good work man, I love your style.
This is such an AMAZING project. It's been such a pleasure to follow all your big themed builds. Hope you get a lot of play out of these Baldur's Gate pieces! I know I would. :)
Yet ANOTHER fantastic video in this series! I absolutely love how inspiring it is. Your passion/love for the games is very evident and just adds to everything. Can't wait to start trying out the street light builds for myself!
This looks gorgeous. Love the lights and the poor man's shrink wrap. I've been playing baldur's gate 2 and so far I gotta say that Neera is kinda the only companion I can actually stand/enjoy the dialogue of. Oh, and Wilson the bear, of course.
It's got to be Boo the hamster. Love this series, here off the back of the complete dungeons. Used to play my Dad's copy of Baldur's gate when I was really young, like 8. So I'd never get much further than Nashkell! Did manage to find that ankheg armour in the field though...
This brings back so many memories. While the houses are a bit different, this reminds me a lot of sneaking through Athkatla at night. :) My facourite companion is Minsc, I'd say. It helps that Jim Cummings is so much fun when he's hamming it up.
I was just watching something about how modern high fidelity graphics seem to lack soul especially when they're Remasters of classics. Older graphics and TVs let your imagination fill in the blanks and fuzzy edges. It's a little bit nostalgia and a little no one can make something as evocative as what you've got rolling around in your head. Love this series
I absolutely love this build series. The aesthetic feel is just a perfect mix of fantasy and realism. If I ever get into terrain building, this will be the vibe.
Hey man! Love the "fast turf / static grass" method. I've avoided fooling with all that mess, but your simple approach makes me reconsider adding some terrain to some of my pieces. Nice job!
Minsc is my favorite. Great lines, charming personality, I liked his quest in the first one, he came along with Boo, and is solid in combat so will always have your back. My least favorite was Jaheira. She was forced on you, was arrogant and condescending, and was also the first to attack fellow party members over their alignment despite supposedly being neutral .
For favorite character, honestly torn between Aerie and Nalia. Aerie is almost always my first stop the moment I get out of the dungeon and there is just something about her that I find refreshing especially in comparison to early game Jaheira. Nalia on the other hand is pretty much always my second stop and once I do I'm almost immediately off to complete her companion quest and retake her home. Honestly I think it may just be because I usually play at least a partial fighter and her quest is the one I know the best.
My word, Bill, that pencil hack for cobblestone is awesome! I don't know if that's your genius, but if so - well done! I only ever finished the first Baldur's Gate (although I also own 2), but Minsc, Imoen, Jaheira and Khalid were always mainstays in my party. I usually picked up Xan, and kept him as well.
Lovely work on those lights? Here I am busy printing custom cr2032 bases and you shortcut everything and just reuse the tea light base! Brilliant! Cr2032’s have a high impedance output - no need for a current limiting resistor.
Was eagerly awaiting the next one of these, and you didn't let me down! Really great stuff here, and really accessible too. I know the pain of work enforced hiatus from hobby stuff - been stuck in a rut with that since last summer. Hope to get some time to do some crafting inspired by this project soon!
Minsc! I just love his dialogue. Great build :) Agreed about Skyrim. I still play Skyrim occasionally (disengage brain, wander around, yell at things) but the storyline and characters in BG are way better. It's only topped by Planescape: Torment in my opinion.
Was fun having Khalid, Jaheira with Xzar. Xan was interesting too. Jan Jansen and Keldorn Firecam from BG 2 were interesting. Have you thought of using foam flock and not static grass for ground coverage ?
@WylochsArmory Good to know. I keep seeing at the store and been wanting to use it, but never pulled the trigger. Might save buying for when I want to diorama.
5:12 -- If you don't have a compass, you can achieve the same with a protractor. Draw your circle with a tack and string or whatever circle-making tool you have. Then divide the number of sides you want into 360. That'll give you degree intervals to mark on your circle. Use your protractor and a ruler to make your marks, and then connect the marks for your sides. e.g. 12 sides would be 30 degree intervals on your compass: 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, and 330.
My favourite companion is probably Minsc because he’s just so silly. Having a 2e Ranger with exceptional strength is pretty fun too, he gibs enemies a LOT.
The styles from the game and the diorama are identical! The characters from the game are probably the strenght of It... I realy like Minsc and Boo of course, Also Viconia, Edwin and Tiax (Tiax Rules! Quote)
Do you know the flicker light trick with LEDs? Take the flickering LED from a tea lite and hook it in series to other LEDs and the entire line of LEDs will flicker.
Camaraderie, adventure, and steel on steel. The stuff of legend! Right, Boo?
I love Minsc. He has the best lines. I also like Khalid. First Black Magic Craft then Wyloch. What a good day
Edwin ftw. Goofiest evil character with the best dialogue lines ever.

This channel is such a treasure, I'm so happy it's growing. Absolutely love the Baldur's Gate content!

Dude, I love this series. Very inspiring. Maybe do the Naskel Mines next?
'I'm soooo tired...'
This Baldur’s Gate City project is amazing! Favorite NPCs are Ajantis for BG1 and Viconia and Minsc for BG2
How these Baldurs gate videos are 100% my favorite thing on your channel. So so good. Nailed the style and what a style it was.
man i think this deliberate low poly look works really great for terrain, its low effort and really pops on the table!
Bingo!

I love your Baldur's gate craft vids
Those opening shots are amazing! The lighting was so spot on, it made me wonder if it wasn't straight from the game i/o your craft.
Minsc and Boo ftw. I love this series. The pencil cobblestones .... gold.

Bo is the best character in baldur's gate accept no substitute
Damn! Those clear bases on the minis look awesome.
I dig these cozy builds totally gives the feels. Reminds me of when my bestie and I would make worlds for our action figures to battle in.

My favorite build so far for Baldur's Gate. Great job!
I had a crappy day at work and this video felt like early Christmas, thanks a lot 🙏
Good stuff, Wyloch. Welcome back! I love the simplicity of this build, man.
Such an amazing project and diaroma. If I ever finish my space hulk, I may start on this

"before we go on, look at this wagon" caught ne off guard
Absolutely superb video! I really love the aesthetic of this!!
Was fun having Khalid, Jaheira with Xzar. Xan was interesting too. Jan Jansen and Keldorn Firecam from BG 2 were interesting.
Have you thought of using foam flock and not static grass for ground coverage ?
Yes, however it is too uneven for miniatures placement.

I liked Imoen and Minsc. I can’t really decide between them.
Minsc is my favorite there from the PC games.
I loved playing as Vahn in the first Dark Alliance game though, Vhaidra in the second
Welcome back. You were missed.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
My favorite companion was Boo, because you got a free Minsc with him!
"You, and Boo, and me: BUTT-KICKING FOR GOODNESS!"
it's amazing, i really enjoy your project !
So glad you're back! Did anyone say "gables" yet?
Beautiful...
Haer'Dalis and Yoshimo were interesting companions...

Really cool!
that was a very pleasant video! thank you! I love baldur's gate. What's her name? the wild magic wizard was my favorite companion. or jaheira perhaps.
