- Starting in Norman Wells I hiked and ran over 350 km in just over five days, completing the entire Canol Heritage Trail on July 29, 2021. Here is a short video I made along the way.

I have flown over alot of the trail, it was good to see the scenery from the ground
Absolutely Epic!
So proud of my amazing, awesome nephew! Bravo! 💖
Wow. The bugs, the swamps, the scenery, your hardcoreness. Just wow.
You are incredible! This is an amazing and impressive achievement. Simply completing the Canol Trail is a feat, let alone doing it this quickly and filming it!
Wow, great job! Thanks for taking the time to film. So interesting to see images of the trail and landscape.
Looks like a couple of power wagons there😮
I, have come back to this VID, once again, to not only to T.Y. once again, for your Journey & sharing it, but also, because it brings me Home to a Land that Never leaves One's Soul !! ~ ~~ NO MATTER WHERE ONE MAY BE !! :))) BLESS YOU, YOUR BRAVERY & YOUR FAMILY !!
Wow, thank you!
Amazing.
Nice work Tony, tanks for the video for all of us to see your adventure.
Nice view
Bravo !!! with Appreciation to You for this Journey !!!
Wow. Absolutely the best style possible. Amazing.
I cycled the dempster. You HIKED the Canol Trail. You are an incredibly brave man.
It was scary being out on the dempster at certain points, but at least every couple of hours there were people. The Canol Trail? That is some intense isolation. That is a whole new level of difficulty. But your video is also very informative. Looks unfathomably majestic out there.
Wow, what an amazing effort! Its really inspiring to watch someone pushing the limits of what’s possible. Well done!
You really crushed that route! The weather in that area is all over it seems, when I was up there (by truck before overloading was trendy) it was below freezing most nights late July. Nice work.
Thanks! My previous time on the trail we had a crushing heat wave and the time before that was freezing temps and even some snow in Devils Pass. So it really is all over the place.
Wow! Thanks for taking us with you, what a cool trip.
good job you are inspiring i will think of your hike when i start whining about my aches and paines on my 2 hour walkabout
Hi Tony, Great watch and thumbs up. This trip remains on my bucket list
Thanks Dave! It's such an amazing trail hope you make it up here one day.
OMG Tony this is just bonkers... well done, congrats etc.! Massive bonus points for somehow putting the great vid together so quickly too. That UL packraft looks pretty sweet... had no idea those existed.
Thanks Matt! I actually made the packraft myself from a kit. Total weight with hand paddles less than 2 lbs.
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo If you had to buy a packraft, which one would you have bought?
For the Canol? If I was buying a packraft it would definitely be an Alpacka Scout. One of the lightest options out there but still a real boat.
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo Thanks!
Matt you thinking of doing this solo or looking for a partner?
Great vid Tony.
That is extremely impressive, great job! Interesting to see it tackled in five days with minimal gear, thats really amazing. How many shelters are out there now? Are they building more? At some point i might have to reach out for a GPS track if you have one available!
Thanks! They have built four new shelters so far but plans to add a bunch more. They didn't get any done in 2021 but hopefully this summer. If you are interested in the trail I put together a site canoltrail.wordpress.com and you can find GPS data there. Reach out anytime if you need info.
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo thank you, thats good to know! Logistics are difficult for this, I'll be sure to contact.
DO IT, Simon! I would love to see your video of this trail. Just looks so amazing. Too much for me, though.
Impressive. I've dreamed of this hike. Been up there a couple of times by motorcycle. Hope to take a through trip before I check out. Thanks for sharing. ~ GrizzLee
Thanks! I hope you get a chance it's just such an amazing place. Within the next few years they should have more shelters in which will also add a lot to the trip as they are really nice.
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo I noticed the huts. Is there a map that shows them? Thanks again. ~GrizzLee
@@RubiKonAdventures I have an accurate GPS track and waypoints on Gaia GPS, you should be able to download in any format you like. So far they have six and the Carcajou (MP 100) is the farthest they have gone, the two planned for this summer did not get put in so they may try to do four in 2022. www.gaiagps.com/public/rybKHuhXYewVgvtOCAWybwWn/
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo You da man. Thanks so very much!! ~Grizz
great job. question for you, are these cabins the ones that gnwt built? never seen them before, and could only find limited info on plans to build.
Yes! There were four built when I did my trip. They are up to six now, with more planned from what I know. If you want the waypoints I have them here: www.gaiagps.com/public/rybKHuhXYewVgvtOCAWybwWn/
Great job, amazing trip. Just curious about your king ropes hat? Are you from Sheridan, Wyoming or do you just like King Ropes?
Just like the hat! It has been on many trips now.
This has been a bucket list of mine for years. Finally was in a position to make it happen and covid hit - How difficult is the actual navigation? is the trail fairly easy to follow? much opportunity to really loose the trail, or with some common sense and experience, is the average person good?
Hi Mike! Hope you get to make this trip happen. It would be hard to get really lost but you can definitely spend a lot of time trying to find the trail in sections. Having a good GPS track to follow really helps. Check out canoltrail.wordpress.com if you haven't seen it yet I have posted a lot of info there. Feel free to get in touch as well happy to answer questions.

Hello. What was the deepest and the farthest river you crossed? Could u use a truck innrr tube for crossing?😮
Hi Martin! Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see a notification for your comment. Those rivers are no joke, especially the Twitya. There have been near misses and at least one person drowned. People have done all kinds of things to cross including swimming a tube across with packs tied on to it, you just need to be confident in fast moving water that is really f'in cold. Me, I'm gonna take a boat every time.
Ill officially invite you to try the West Coast Train on Vancouver Island
Impressive work and fun video! Do you have a gear list by any chance? Sounded like you dealt with quite the variety of conditions out there :)
Thanks! You can find my gear list here: lighterpack.com/r/5argfx
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo Awesome thanks!
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo That is awesome, yes thanks for sharing Tony
Thanks for sharing! What kind of pack raft is that?
Thanks! It's a DIY Packraft Ultralight that I made from one of his kits. Only 700 grams for a full sized boat.
@@AnthonyDeLorenzo cool!
