I could get a optimizer for 5k here in germany. But I think when I need a new engine I will rebuild mine since the 6.5 had different numbers on the block. I believe there were 506, 599, 141 and 929 engine blocks. Blocks with the the numbers 506 had the most problems from what I heard with cracks and failures. Since mine is a 599 block I rather rebuild mine than getting a optimizer or other 6.5 engine
Gidday mate Just wondering do you use the factory td42 temp gauge or an aftermarket one ? Reason I ask is a mate has just brought same setup ( also in wa ) and it seems to run very hot on factory temp gauge ? And spikes quite a lot under load on sand Any info be greatly appreciated
G'day. The factory temp guage is far from accurate. It will sit at the 1/2 way point from from as low as 79°c to 105°c. When it starts to move is usually above that. Which of course is not good. I do run a pod guage on top of my dash. But that sender unit records the temps from the opposite bank to the factory guage. But also what I ended up doing was buying a guage unit that plugs into the OBD II plug under the steering wheel so I now know exactly what the hot and cold guage is actually reading. Also I have replaced the viscus fan hub for a solid drive hub. And that has made a huge difference. Hope this helps
I'm suspicious that I'm running the rotating mass nissan clutch set up. But I'm not 100% on that. Brunswick Diesel did a drive in drive out conversation for me.
I've swapped out the viscus fan hub for a solid drive unit ( I tow a lot ). Just recently replaced the airbox and filter to give me 4" from turbo to snorkel ( see my most recent video titled 'fatz Fabrication airbox' ). And due to a cheap inline fuel filter. I will be replacing my lift pump with an Airtex pump in a day or so, rated at 10 to 14psi. Nothing too drastic. I've since done roughly 57,000kms now and had no real issues. Hope this helps.
@@flysoutbackadventures so you’d say it’s for sure suited mostly towards someone who tows a lot? There’s a relatively cheap one near me hj75 that needs to get over pits with some love but i still donno 9k is a fair bit for a car I can’t take on the road yet I just want a firewood getter and something to putt around the block in, maybe get a tinny in the future Maybe just a regular 75 would do idk
@@FJaypewpew. If you're just looking for a "firewood haller" (sounds like a farm ute to me ). And that's all u want out of a ute. Why buy an unregistered ute. ( Unless it's just for the farm and not on public roads ) and go thru all the headache of going over the pits to register it. Sounds like u just want a cheap ute for some menial tasks. I'd just by a cheap ute that is already registered so I could take it on public roads if need be. Who care what brand it is, or what engine it has.
@@flysoutbackadventures yeah that’s it, it’s just when you start looking at info you get hyped up especially when I’m trying to upgrade from the commodore we have had since I was year 3 in primary school It was local and within my price range, and I just looked at a bomb of a troopy during the week and was disappointed so, yknow immediate satisfaction started becoming a factor
I See It Puts Everything In Reverse Too; Does That Mean 5 Reverse And The Overdrive; One Ahead?! Don't Reverse Over The Bloody Jindalee Radar; They Might Start Shooting At You!!!
The engine is bullet proof. Only issue I had was viscous fan hub (Duramax fan and hub) would not kick in early enough when towing (GCM 6.2 TON) on 42° days for my liking. So I got a solid drive replacement hub.( provided under warranty). So the fan now pulls air thru like a locked Kenworth fan hub does. And my water temps, under the same conditions, are 88° all day long.
To the point no BS thanks for the review awesome.
Great reviews no bs straight to the guts of it

Appreciate the reply , I will pass on the info to hopefully get things sorted
Thanks again mate 👍
Do You a part number for the solid drive hub
Hi
Do you know the details of what clutch you are running?

Mate have you done anything after you bought it upgrade pump or billet crank or anything?

Hi there, I've read about the engine issues the 6.5 ltr has, do you have any leaks??
