Happily Never After: Disney Princess Video Essay (2021)

(mini passion project from 2021)
Representation means more than creating a single Black princess, but it is about accurately and thoughtfully telling a story about a complex, three-dimensional character. Hollywood continues to prove that they value money more than crafting stories that beautifully capture the experiences of women of color that can inspire young girls. I put in hours of research and editing on Premiere Pro to emphasize the importance of the meaningful messages I want to share. I want to work in the Hollywood of innovation and Ava DuVernay, not the Hollywood of old money and whiteness.
