Tassos Manolas. Dear Matt.I bought a second hand Ocean trident 15 one month ago after having for two years a Hobie Sport. The filling is that this kayak have spaces to play .stability and i hope enjoy it .Thank You for your nice video. Manny greetings from Athens Greece.
You forgot to discuss the difference in seats and comfortability. Maybe in another vid you can talk about how your back or butt feels after several hours on the water in the different kayaks. Also, any plans to make a vid on baits/lures to use offshore? I wanna go offshore but all I got is inshore gear.
I fish a trident 13 and the seat is fine for me fishing all day, at 46 years old I worry about that too! But seriously I am amazed how comfy that seat is.
I don't have a viking anymore because I love the trident 15 storage but I can give you a quick review in the comments. Viking is lighter and faster easier to paddle. Has less storage and rides waves better. Also it has a lot of pre rigged setup already so your good to go when bought. It has a middle hatch that's is a dry box can fit cameras and essentials. Trident 15 has similar features has 2 middle compartments for dry storage. Hatches come out and you have full kayak storage as well. Trident is heavier so harder to paddle but in time your body will adjust and it won't be a big deal. Its longer and had more weight in the front end so the bow design of the trident cuts rather than hull splashes like the viking in choppy conditions. The trident is not prerigged so it's a kayak rigging and DIY project for many folks. Many ways to set it up. Overall both kayaks preform like a champ in open and bay waters but I prefer the trident only because I love the 15ft internal storage and that itself can save you lots of money in gear. If your someone who fishes in calm waters or your a open water person but fishes when its lake conditions then I'd say either kayak is great. Viking you'll have it easier on your body in calm conditions, and its already good to go less hassle of having to rig it up. That's my take on these kayaks.
@@MattsFishingAdventures thanks dude, that pretty much sums up what you said in your video to! How up to date are you with the kayak scene i cant find much on open water kayak options! I loved the Prowler Ultra 4.7 but have noticed they discontinued the Prowlers above like 13ft. The vikings have not changed much in years which says something for them. Have you thought about adding a pacific action sail? Im still leaning towards a viking mainly because i dont need to surf launch anywhere. Interested to see how it lasts for you! Thanks for the reply!
I paddle a Trident Ultra 4.3 which is 14 feet long. People put a lot of emphasis on weight when how much you weigh and how much gear you take make just as big a difference. The Trident 15 is longer and narrower than the Viking so i'm not sure i'm buying how much faster you say the Viking is. Do a 1 mile time trial on flat water ha ha. Interesting vid none the less. O and by way. Spend the coin on a full carbon Wernher paddle. I have a Camano. You will never regret it.
The viking is faster by far but remember your not racing cars so its it's nothing to worry about. Its comes down to endurance. In a viking you can paddle longer faster. The trident is more weight so it's like being in a gym. You try and take 150lbs and bench press it 20 time your not going to take 175lbs and bench press it 20 times and feel the same. The heavier weight is gonna wear you out faster. That's how the trident compares to the viking
I have the OK Trident Ultra 4.7, original. It is about 16’long. Love this Kayak. I am able to go pretty fast in this thing. It moves right through the water and waves. The rudder is a HUGE feature on this thing. I have since added the OK Trident 11 for the days I want to go smaller, and they had a great deal on it I just couldn’t pass it up. I have been rigging it out and haven’t gotten it out on the water yet, but can’t wait. I am also looking at the Old Town PDL which will probably be my next Yak. Great Vid, Good opinions. I haven’t been in a Viking so can’t really comment on that, but will say I am a big fan of OK.
Great info Matt I went with the Viking Profish 400 wanted a yak with lest amount of hatches ,water in the hull freaks me out being that I`ve almost sunk 2 of them .
Like your channel. Have you tried the Stealth Kayaks? They are light, narrow and fast with internal storage for rods, gear and fish. Looks like they would be easy to flip.
The monterey melt with grilled jalapenos is my crack! Can't go there without getting one. Couple of questions- on the Viking were you able to get your rods in the front hatch? On the Trident 15 how do you or will you keep fish from spoiling in the heat if you're putting them in the hull?
They won't spoil if they are in the hull. The hull doesn't heat up so much because the water temp cools the bottom of the yak. I just slide them in the hull. Fish go to the back of the kayak and when I get home I rinse it out good and let it air out. Usually my fishing trips last about 5ish hour or so. The viking my rods had to be laid off to the side of the kayak on the paddle slot or in the front bungies you can't make them fit in the front hatch Its short and isn't designed for rod storage. I'll have to try that whataburger Monterey melt one day. If I'm gonna die fishing its gonna be from over working the heart from all those whataburger stops 🙈 #livingthegoodlife
Damn your a big dude. You probably could pull it off on the trident but you'll need glass conditions. Viking is a slight bit more stable Because the rear end shape. This is gonna come down to your overall fishing needs. What you could do is get a trident or something like that and focus on learning to fish out of it. When I switched from a peddle system kayak to my viking I made a complete new approach to fishing but I got accustomed to it so it was a great switch. You'll learn to fish out of any kayak it just takes trial and error out on the water to see what the kayak offers.
No clue bro. Never used a hobie. Only thing I know about them is that they are fast and stable but lack storage like a trident and in rough conditions offshore if you aren't seasoned with experience in one you can have a very costly trip in one.
Hi mate! I'm in South Africa, and we have a local Trident made by Legend kayaks up the road from me. Have a look at it on RUclips it's an amazing kayak that ticks all the boxes you talk about in your video, the biggest factor this kayak has speed. Check it out it would be so cheap for you guy's to import in the states. I would highly recommend as its the best I've ever had beats my carbon. When you talk to legend mention my name.
Don't even have a xbox dude. I thought about the second hustle but I'm liking the fishing industry. Gaming is cool but I spent to much time raging on that thing. I need to focus and make change for the future so I'm gonna stick to my plan. In maybe when I got this moving on it's own I may get that madden grind back in full effect and just take over for shits and giggles I'll think about it. For now it's the fishing. This stuff is fun. Making moves ain't stopping.

I would but you can’t get them in the UK anymore.
I have it and is one of the best offshore kayaks
Yeah it is impressive

No I haven't tried the stealth kayaks yet. A new video will be dropping this week..thanks for watching

@@MattsFishingAdventures gotcha. I'm looking at a better kayak for fishing the flats then what I have but want one I can one day take offshore too.
How much tall are you and what you weight? I'm 5 7 and was up to 186 and I can stand up fine in this kayak. It's long enough for stability
@@MattsFishingAdventures 6' tall 205 lbs or 210 after Whataburger..

Good video. I have the trident 15. Love it
Looks like a really good kayak, love that hull storage
It is nice, see all those Jack's nice to have the storage for the good days.
Hobie revolution, thoughts?
