    This process was fairly easy when I did it with RT29 radios I purchased last year but I don't have access to the workstation I downloaded the software to before and when I tried it on several workstations to program the 10 additional radios we recently purchased I can't get it to work. I purchased them for a couple of Hilton brand hotels and had Hilton tech support try to do it and it didn't work for them either. Quite frustrating to have brand new radios and not be able to use them.

    IMPORTANT! Many people complain about problems when trying to communicate with the Walkie through the "RT29 RadioSoft" software... One way to avoid communication errors with the Retevis RT29 is to remove the antenna before connecting it ... Without the antenna the upload/dowload runs smoothly.

      I’m sorry I missed your question, these radios while they may be good are kind of a pain and that sense because there is no keypad on it. What you can do is all 16 channels make them the GRS FRS, radio channels and you can just use it there, and a way you go. Out of the box. They have privacy tones on them and stuff that you don’t really need for every day communications so you will have to reprogram it just to make it a bit easier for everybody.

That is the only way to figure out the real match on your band. The stock antenna is what I run with pretty good success. Distance is based on 2 things. One is the radio antenna match. Secondary and most importantly is terrain. I do know this the “tactical” foldable antennas are NOT tuned to 462-467 mhz and stay away from them. Diamond, Larsen and comet make good antennas. The other thing that you may have an issue with is please double check the cable that you have to program between the computer and the radio itself. I have many people who have purchased the incorrect cable for it. There are two cables and one will program the radio and the other one will not. They both look exactly the same. The cable that you want is for the HD1 radio just double check to make sure that that’s correct cable. If you have any other issues just emailed me back and we’ll figure it out. Hello, I have just received my two rt29 radios, the software is installed, port 4 is used, but when I program nothing remains recorded. My radios now beep continuously when I turn them on, regardless of channel. The channel identification language is now in Chinese. The USB connection cables were ordered in the same package, so they must have been the correct ones. What to do after a month of waiting, returned them to China?
    Please help me out :)

    • @n3qdz
      @n3qdz  2 года назад

      I’m sorry I’ve never had that issue before. What I would do is go back in and read the codeplug off of the radio. If you have anything that is read from the radio put that in a saved file and then rewrite a new codeplug for the radio. Language is something easy to change in the software itself but so far is the continuous beeping you may have a button in one of the programmable buttons just below the push to talk that may be pushed in or stuck somehow. I’m sorry I’ve never had the radio beep continuously but what I might suggest is to turn the radio on while it is on beeping remove the battery and see if that’s an issue put the battery back on and see if it still continues to beep at you. If it does I would turn the radio off put the program and cable on the radio and plug it into the computer bring up the software turn on the radio and see if you can read codeplug and see what happens from there.

      @@n3qdz Thank you for your prompt response. The software that comes with the rt29 really doesn't work properly. Unlike you, I enter the frequencies in the large table (Unicode with right button), once finished I transfer directly to the radio which records the frequencies. I take a screenshot to remind me of the recorded frequencies. However, CTCSS codes are unfortunately not available. Only DCS codes work. I can't save .rdat files, they stay empty. As for the beep, I think it was due to the fact that no frequency was in the radio. I can't read the codeplug. I do not know if it is because of the Windows system which is in French Canada. I just wrote to the retevis support service. I'll come back to you with the rest of the saga. I have less problem with my Midland and Motorola radios but you have to have fun! :)

    As far as GMRS That’s what I need as frequencies. Thing is I want the full 10 watts. Also this won’t be used for average GMRS. They will be for SHTF type of situation. Well I see that your ham radio license has expired and yet you have seem to have forgotten the rules here in the United States. The Retevis RT29 cannot be used on any radio service in the USA except for ham radio. This radio isn't certified by the FCC for Part 90, Part 95, Part 87, or even Part 85. FRS and GMRS is under Part 95. So you really should tell the truth and its probably a good thing your ham license is expired with the bad advice you are giving out.

      Glad someone else is thinking the same thing. It's even stated on their website as follows: Just keep in mind, though, that you will need to procure yourself a license to operate this kind of radio. Since these radios are not FRS, GMRS, or MURS radios, you will need a tech class ham license or a commercial license to operate these two-way radios. For more information regarding this, you can click here.
