That one was good too. For me it was 1:13:30. His need to confess his darkest fear to someone who he knew would not voice any judgement was just so profound.
Tariq had enough self respect to refuse to continue being in a relationship that required him to hide who he was & put up w/ abuse & allowing kaldrick to be in control 24/7.

As a masculine black gay nigga, I really appreciate tv series like this--there's not too many black gay masculine males' representation of us in the media----they make a good couple.
You should watch P Valley on Starz if you're looking for a show with good black gay masculine male representation if you haven't seen it already. I won't spoil the show in case you haven't seen it, but if you choose to watch I think you'll love the character of Lil Murda.
I totally agree with you!! But when you experience love, real love like that is a beautiful feeling. But, love hurts and I have experienced this type of relationship several times in my life. When does the story continue without a sad ending?
I just hate that when a black man is gay and masculine, he always has to be on the DL instead of just being a regular non-stereotypical gay man...Its hard to find black and black gay love because they black community is so messed up
Yeah bro, as a black man, who is gay, its hard to find and experience true gay love because we supposed to be hardcore- If you're a black man, you have to a thug/Gangstaz, a rapper, athlete or a lowlife--if you're not deemed as one of those I just mentioned, then you're not black enough.
This storyline was incredibly intriguing. I don’t believe I’ve seen anything like it in a while. I never watched the series, only this collection of scenes involving these two. Also, the actor playing Kaldrick Kane, never got into any of his other acting gigs outside. He played the hell outta this role though.
They really messed the show up when they broke these two guys up. They moved to quick and there was sooooo much more they could've done with their characters. I was done when they broke them up. Its like the fuel that propelled the show was snatched right from under it. Man I hope someone revisits these characters and really, really expound on them..🤷
Watching these scenes again made me relise that Kal loved Tariq in his weird and messed up way. Internalized homophobia is very real, because of it people do stupid shit to hurt the people they love. Benjamin Charles Watson is my guy, I'll watch anything with him.

Right. They could have tossed the rest of the of storylines into the garbage can, & no one would have missed them. The Tariq/Kal storyline is the only thing that made the show worth watching.
This story is so many young black men and women stories. It literally had me in tears through out. Bringing back memories of me not telling my father before he passed away. Thank you for telling our story.
This was one of my favorites shows. It was on point. Great acting and storyline. I thought I heard about a reboot years back. I wish they would bring it back.
This was such a great love story! My heart hurt for Tyriq! All he wanted was love from Kal and I recognize that Kal was broken but if only he would've stepped outta his own way....
This was like maybe my first BL drama and it was amazing! Andra Fuller (Kaldrick King) was so hot, so bad (in a good and bad way), and played the part expertly. Haven't seen this in a long time, so looking forward to revisiting this moving series.
Thanks for posting this show. Finally gave me closure on what happened. Although I feel towards the end it was rushed it was a very good story. I'm happy he finally stepped into his truth.
Just came across this, watched all of it. Funny thing is I had no idea this was a series about a bunch of people. This edit could have been a show by itself. Way more interesting than the real series.
Watching this show my heart jumped for the romantic love story, I cried deeply, my heart aches because I have loved someone so deeply that certain situations occurred similar to this story. I have never loved anyone again since then. Watching this story made me relive my life from a particular season and I'm finally starting to heal from 8 years ago.
1:00:55 When Tariq said that all he wanted was a plane ticket home. Oh! I cried. There was so much pain embodied in that single line. And when they started talking alone at 1:01:30 and Kal said that he does love him, got me so emotional, because most guys project their internalized homophobic insecurities to us, instead of trying to find a voice. I will always say this, "Even the most beautiful love stories can have painful beginnings." And Kal and Tariq's love story shouldn't have ended that way, but at least Kal got the closure he needed. I also hate how they just threw Tariq off the picture after. needed to show his journey of recovery amd how he got to move on emotionally and romance wise. I repeat, this may just be the best thing I have ever watched. It is so rare to see a production about black masculine gay men, and homophobia can ruin their relationships. With this, I felt like we were heard just for once.
Kal with Christopher is a grown up man, more aware of Who he is and what he wants. A Better man then his past. And Christopher Is a wise and confident person, Who makes Kal feeling safe. I think they are a wonderful couple ❤
The Tariq and Kal storyline was one of the best parts of The L.A. Complex series. I felt the first season was more geared towards Tariq and the second more on Kal. Season 1- Tariq learned a lesson that most gay men of color don't want to talk about publicly when dating Down Low men. Their unpacking becomes your trauma. And why Tariq ended up dating outside his race. Every time he looks at another Black man, he will see Kal. Season 2- Through addressing family and personal trauma, Kal began to evolve. Christopher was a good balance to help him through this phase in life. But the short-term damage caused for this awaken will become demons in the long run.
I'm in my mid 40s, and this was the first and one of the few gay love stories I could actually relate to... The characters here are realistic and relatable.. The vast majority of Black gay men that I deal with and come in contact with, are like Kal or Tariq or the lawyer or Kal's bodyguard homie...Now if we can see more Black male gay stories involving characters like this, that would be a great thing!!
