Very informative. This is what I'd like to show people that are looking to start hunting in Cali. Explaining the zones sometimes confuses them. Especially since deer tags are zone specific compared to the statewide bear/pig tag.

Hell yeah! On point and clearly explained. Why the hell don't they tell us this during the course? Your videos are appreciated. So anyone with a license can basically grab any OTC tag and head to the zones and start scouting or harvesting then? Sounds too simple after all this haha.
Awesome video dude. Coming from Michigan out here and it's like WTF is this complicated mess? Even their website is confusing when you're trying to find information about Rifle hunting. They say Muzzleloader Rifle and Archery, not firearms like it should be because there's a big difference between muzzleloader and modern sporting rifles.
That’s a good question, I think once archery starts you have to wait till general opens again since it’s still a season, unless the archery and general dates over lap
Interesting… from the complaining I see that California regulations are working. A successful hunt always starts with preparations. I guess most people are too lazy to do the work.

What about archery only tags? Can you hunt multiple zones with a AO tag with archery equipment?
Archery would be the same concept, applied by zones you just get a head start.
@TriedandTrue916 wrong!! An AO tag lets you hunt A,B and D zones. Just can't hunt the draw zones.
I want to start hunting, hope I can do it right the first time. probably going to look for a guide for zone D

Can you archery hunt A zone July 10- sept 26 or once archery is over you have to wait til general opens up?

It’s funny I have been extremely lucky and for about 6 years my group including myself would always draw a X zone tag and would go to X1

U can use crossbow in archery season if you show that you're disabled.

Can deer be taken with shotgun in d zone?
Yes you can. Follow all non lead and ammo capacity rules.
