Great Vid. I was using 15 grams of coffee and got a weak brew. I used 8 oz of water. Thanks to you I’ll increase my Coffee and water to your dose. Thanks Brother.

There is some online that says: Mr. Clever , and some that says: Clever
    Which one is the original?

Awesome video! What would be a reason why I can't get the grinds to line the walls of the filter like in the video?

+faslax159 We should say right off that it's not totally necessary to get them to line the filter like that, everybody's got their own brewing preferences after all! Often, we find the grinds will settle in evenly in the bottom of the Clever if we've stirred or agitated the slurry during brewing, or if we're using denser light-roasted coffees. Sometimes older coffees will also sink to the bottom early. The beauty of the Clever is that these situations aren't really problematic, as you're still getting further extraction during the drawdown, and you should end up with a well-balanced brew whether the grounds adhere to the filter or not.

+Prima Coffee Equipment i'll keep that in mind and see if there's a difference with my next bag of beans, thanks!

hi i want to ask similarly to the gentlemen above is blooming the coffee in immersion brewing necessary? Given that with all the water in there it would de-gass anyways and maybe faster. if you have info contradicting my assumption would be great to know thank you.

    Can you recommend a grinder?

When I Brew a cup of coffee with my clever dripper it seems weak. Using the same ratio of water to coffee in my BonMac Dripper and Hario V60 it’s not weak at all. Seams real strange.

Try a finer grind or letting it sit longer. The total time including draw down should be around 4 minutes. There's no reason why it should be weak.

Clever Dripper is an immersion type brewer (like French press) which needs a higher amount of coffee ground per liter of water than a percolation type (like V60)

I just used it with very few grounds and it took about 4 HOURS for the water to draw down. What's up with that? without the filter, no problem. With the Melitta filter hours!

You shouldn't be trying to get all the water out. If you have 350g of water added you should get about 280g-300g of coffee when you place the CD on your cup. Discard the rest.

Try changing the grind size, it it too fine?

      First water then the coffee?

That would be wonderful if the grounds deposited themselves nicely along the sloped walls of the dripper but, in mine, they all clump up at the bottom and make it drain like shit. Oh well.

    • @skullsroad3642
      @skullsroad3642 7 лет назад +6

That's actually how you're supposed to do it. When all the grounds are at the bottom, the water draws through all the grinds and you get an even extraction. If they hug the walls, all the coffee along the perimeter has no contact with water towards the end of the draw down.
I get clogging either way. I think it has to do with how many fines I have in my grind.

Christopher McGlaughlin I agree but, what about the total time for drain down the entire water? In my case is (sometimes) more than 4 and even 5 min!! :@

@@rockalvaro Late response but if your still thinking about it, a more coarse grind works to increase drawdown.

Would have been better without the rain barrel effect and the garage band playing.

Swirl the brewer before you extract to get all that stuff off the walls.
